thanks for the quick reply...I guess we will figure out a blanket thingy since our chairs won't be allowed and I can deal with bringing a sealed water bottle, I'll just avoid bringing the camel bak to Centeroo just so there won't be a hassle etc. thanks again
I did a search on the sight and didn't find the answer.
Are there shade trees in the camping only area? I'm broke and won't be able to afford a shade canopy, so I am wondering where are my best chances of finding shade trees to camp near?

The only way you will get shade trees is if you are lucky enough to end up along the tree line in BFE - and then I would say that you will have to deal with insects - ticks and mosquitos
I just found this board today and am SO relieved to find such useful info, as it seems a little shady on some other sites. I've been browsing the FAQ's for first timers and haven't seen anything related to this, so please pardon me if this has been addressed before. I'm coming into town early Wednesday and plan on doing the Jack Daniels tour thing during the day. How far is the drive from there to Manchester? Can anyone make a recommendation for a hotel that's near Bonnaroo for Wed night? I wanted to do the WalMart party thing that night, but do people just sleep in their cars and get on the highway early in the morning from there? Any advice is appreciated. I can hardly wait to get there!
Under normal driving conditions, expect a 45 minute drive from Lynchburg(Jack Daniels Distillery) to Manchester - between 25-30 miles of state/county highway; hope that helps. I will let others shed some light on the Wally World vs hotel topic as I am considered a local and have no experience with that.

I've been to the Walmart the past two years and have met some cool people. We get there at around 11pm and walk around. Have a look at the wooks and the random people. A few drum circles and music all around. It gets packed though, so I'd get there as early as possible. Leave before 9am because you'll be in line for a while (3 hours?). Most people just sleep in their cars that night, although some set up their tents in the parking lot. It's definitely cheaper than a hotel, considering all the money you'll be spending throughout the trip.
Great information. I especially appreciate the info regarding estimated times for traveling & waiting in lines. Now, just to clarify, Guitarheroo, when you say most people sleep in their cars that night, do they do that in the Walmart parking lot or at Bonnaroo parking lot? Either would definitely be cheaper than a hotel.

He means in the Walmart parking lot I'm sure. The gates to Bonnaroo do open on Wednesday night at some point, and you CAN go in early, but they will put you way out in BFE unless you are camping in Access. That's ok for some people. I prefer not to be parked a mile and a half from the entrance to Centeroo, but that's just me.
Question: Im coming down with 3 friends and another friend is flying down to meet us. We plan on camping by our car. Will we have enough space for 2 large or 3 small tents by the car?
That's pretty much entirely up to you, if you are quick enough to hop out of the car and throw down tarps or tents to mark out your area. However, you are theoretically limited by the width of your vehicle and so forth, so if you start laying out a sprawling tent city your neighbors might have a problem with that. But yeah, you should have enough room probably, just depends.

Your set up doesn't sound unreasonable. We had a compound last year for like 12 people and we thought we might have some problems with the neighbors. Like wolfaroo said, stake your spot first. However, communication with your neighbors can be your best asset. Just keep in mind that some people may have just driven 14 hours only to sit in traffic for 3 (as was the case with our neighbors), so tact, patience, and respect are key.
We ended up having to move some stuff around to keep them happy, but a few beers and a little corn broke the ice and eased some perceived tension. We got along great all weekend.
im really wanting to bring a small kiddie pool, would i have to bring my own water?.... in MN concert event drive around semi;s with water tankers to fill pools. Bonnarooo pool???

You would have to fill it yourself. The festival provides water in the campgrounds, but you would have to figure out how to transport the water\pool to and from the water stations.
i live in manchester and bought a ticket. it's my first time going and i'm a little skeptic on how to get a wristband. my friend told me to visit the tent in front of home depot wednesday to get my wristband and for me to bring my license? however, my dad bought the ticket under his name, so will that matter? and should i go to the tent in front of home depot or should i just bring my ticket threw the entrance and get my wristband like everyone else?
This is my first Bonnaroo experience, and I really want to do tent only. it sounds awesome. We're driving up Wednesday arriving around 3am Thursday morning and I had some questions...
Should we sleep in the car campsite until tent-only opens up?
When does the tent-only area open up?
If we drive up wednesday night, around where will we be parked?
Many thanks to whoever replies to this. I realize its a lot of questions, but I don't really know anything about Bonnaroo...

thanks bunny... do i still need my license and is there anything else i need?
Nope you don't need anything other than your ticket to get your wristband. Drive through the toll booths like everyone else and swap your ticket for a wristband.

Actually you'll need your driver's license, an alternate form of valid picture ID, a birth certificate, 2 membership cards (excluding grocery store shopper's card), a blood sample, and a picture of you in a zebra costume.
