Wait, baby wipes for showers? What about my complimentary fructis at the $7 well-maintained facilities? What about my rub-a-dub-dub pleasure? I'm a first timer and I'm not afraid to get a little smelly but I NEED to at least have the option of not developing a crust.

we had a first timer go with us this year. this is the best advice i could give her:
"just remember, it's ALWAYS going to be hot + that there is no way out of here until we leave. you come to terms with that, you're good."
by the way, hello everybody. i'm from miami, florida. this is my first post. 2nd year bonnaroo attendee + i'm hooked for life.....or at least as long as these gods continue to put the gig on. i LOVE the people, i LOVE the comfort we're given from the get go.....i just love every single thing about the festival. hope to meet some of you in the future.

This was our first Roo, OMG, man you just can't know until you go what that scene is like!!! I brought a hand held GPS because I wanted to see how many miles we would end up walking during Bonnaroo, and discovered that this little thing was a fantiastic multi-purpose tool for Roo. I highly recommend bringing one or two.
Our two main uses were: 1. marking where our campsite was located so that we could always find our way back.
And 2. When watching a show, if someone had to use the porto we could mark where we were standing and hand them the GPS. This way they could find us again, even standing in the middle of tens of thousands of people (ala Stevie Wonder). Without it we would have either had to say goodbye to that person for the rest of the show, or everyone would have to go to the portos.

I was wondering just how much I had wandered around during Roo as well. No GPS. I just presumed it was like a mile from where I was stationed to the Centeroo gate. So going back and forth a couple times a day... quite a lot of walking. Six miles a day?

No public transportation available? There are still hotels available in Murfreesboro & Monteagle. (both about 30 minutes by car).

Honestly I do not know that you will be able to get cabs reasonably, though I do not know your budget. Murfreesboro has limited cab service, and monteagle/manchester is not going to have any. Same for public transportation it is in a very rural area. What is your whole plan here for your trip? You might do well to leave some stuff at the airport and just come down and camp in tent only. You are more than welcome to join the group camp the board puts together that will take some pressure off you for stuff you would have to bring.

I just wanted to say THANKS for all the helpful info! This year will be my first time. I don't know if I'm more nervous about surviving or excited! I will probably be coming alone....so hopefully I can meet up with some of you! Thanks again!

theres a campsite of solo roo ers every year, if your coming alone look into that... theyre a great group and do an amazing job looking out for one another every year
When do they usually announce the line up and put tickets on sale? Where is the campsite for solo people? In tent only? Cause I use a tent that goes on the back of my truck & hadn't planned on doing tent only. If you could give one piece of advice to a new comer......what would it be?
Just curious... how do you keep your cell phone charged or camera charged?? is there any charging staions outlets??
best advice for this: turn your phone off when the bands are playing. You'll save a huge amount of battery by doing this, and you won't hear it go off during a loud show. I easily made my flip phone last all four days by doing that
there are enough landmarks that you can always just say "meet up by the fountain after lil wayne" or whatever
they also have charging lockers, but those generally have a huge line

Hey guys, I haven't been able to fiind a thread for suggestions/help to people who are flying in. We are flying into Nashville on thursday and plan on taking the shuttle to the farm. Obviously what we can bring, especially coming from Canada, is drastically altered by having to fly. For example I see so many people saying "you have to have an e-z up" but we can't bring one. We will be bringing small tents and locks for the tents. Are locks going to provide security for our tents? Has anyone had their tent broken into with locks on it? Is there a place close to the airport where we could grab some beer and tobacco before we head to the venue? What is the respect level between campers? I've been to one festival where camping was such a gong show. People were voiding/Leno-ing all over other peoples tents/campsites and full tents were literally stolen. From everything I have read on here the Bonnaroo crowd isn't like that but I have to ask for the piece of mind of my GF. What did it cost last year (2010) in Centeroo for a beer?
Thanks so much for any help you guys can provide. I just want to be as prepared as possible for our first Bonnaroo experience.

I was just thinking about the cicadas this year...blech. Also, I was wondering if anyone has worn a pair of Keens to roo? They're like sneaker sandals, like reefs...can be worn underwater, even worn with socks...I love them but I'm not sure how they'll be at the farm, since it's my first year.
