What about the baldies? I shaved my dome a few months back... looks like I'll be sporting a hat or a mullet wig, gotta keep the sun off it and keep from blinding those around me.
I'm with you Drew - where is the love for us baldies? ;D As for you long hairs - count yourselves among the lucky or at least genetically superior to me in the hair gene department, I wish I could still grow it out!
I had been losing my hair since my early/mid 20s and back several years ago I decided to beat mother nature to the punch - I shave what is left. It's definitely a good way to keep cooler, but when it burns oh man does it *suck*. I'll be rockin' a wide brimmed hat and tons of suncreen to keep my dome from turning into a red badge of unpreparedness (is that even a word?)
I have two words for my long hair as well Rubber Band
owww. buy some hair ties, their not that expensive and they don' hurt at all. taking rubber bands out is excruciating
Exactly. I tried pulling my hair back ponytail style once and used a rubber band and ouch!! I dont like the feeling of hair being ripped from my head. I guess I'll just stick with my bandannas.

I didnt literally mean a rubber band.
I use those Goody's elastic ties with the little bumps on them. It looks like a french tickler for your hair... ;D
i just one gaurded mine the other day. i havent shaved it in a few years but i got the urge. its def easier and lets me lay in bed a little longer in the mornin. plus, im hot natured and have thick hair so its like an oven on my head with much hair. i used to have trouble in sports over heating when i kept my hair at "shaggy" length.
i think after my head gets tan im going to no gaurd it. it will def be gone for roo.

I've got about 30 inches of hair. As a metalhead and guitarrist, there is no way I would dream of cutting my hair solely for a festival. TOUGH IT OUT!! This is the place to let it flow free!!!
I've got LONG, THICK, DARK hair. In the middle of Bonnaroo on Saturday afternoon is about the only time i hate it. The sun just beats down on my head. It gets hot to the touch.
There's absolutely NO WAY I'd cut it though.
So here's what I do, wear a light colored hat and dunk it in water, it'll keep you cool for a good while. Otherwise... braids, doubled over ponytails, or a bun.
If I can handle it then you big strong men can do it

October will mark my 10 year anniversary of shaving my head. Thanks to my grandfather, I inherited male pattern baldness and it started showing at the brutal age of 25. So to beat it to the punch, I shave my head weekly. IMO, hair is overrated. But I guess that's only because I don't have any...heh. Hair length makes a big difference for expelling body heat and can really really suck in the winter.
nice going there. I couldnt imagine getting my hair cut right now, I think just not having it long would be a little to weird for me plus it isnt long enough to get cut for a good cause. karma for the good deed!
It is certainly strange. My head feels really light. And ya know, my hair has been such a part of my identity for so long, its like losing a body part.
I am really a bit depressed about, I think I will be fine though. I can look at it this way. It has already got two days worth grown back!!

my hair is a little above my shoulders, but still too short to put in a ponytail or pigtails...i do the t-shirt sleeve instead of a bandanna when i go to the gym and such, it works much better imo....
some guy friends of mine lived beside me my sophomore year. one of them always did that, and i tried it out bc my hair was short. it works great, doesnt slide off your head or anything.

I don't really like the way I look with longer hair. Two years ago I completely shaved it all at once and didn't like it very much, despite the fact that everyone told me it looked better. It only took about 4 months to grow back. I don't plan on doing that ever again.
its pretty goofy looking, for sure, in between stages
at roo 05 i had just had my hair cut really short, like.... clean cut, businessman hair (parents doing... busted me chiefing) at roo 06 i hadn't had it cut since ^^^ (actually i had a trim in may; rocked the shaggy, over the ears, beatles look) at roo 07 i plan on it being un cut from where it is now (6 inch ponytail)
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
I know this is an old thread, but it popped up when I did a search. My hair is the longest it's ever been right now- down to my elbows. It's also very thick and damn near black. I won't cut it, so I need some tips on keeping it out of my way at roo. Is there anything I can use to keep it off my back, but not in the way of my hat? If I put it in a low messy bun, it makes my neck itch. Am I just screwed?
Can you just braid it? Start the braid low so it doesn't mess with your hat and just let it hang.
I have super thick curly long hair and it's a nightmare dealing with it there. I don't wear hats because I can't stand anything on my head (makes me hotter too!) so I just wear it in a pony or just piled on my head. I wish I could straighten it for Roo because it would be easier to manage but it wouldn't make it 5 min in that humidity before frizzing and curling back up.
Roo is the one time when I'm actually jealous of gals with super short hair!
Last year my hair was about six inches long. I used headbands to keep the front off my face.
Haven't cut it since and I have about a six inch long ponytail. I'm thinking hair ties, bandanas, and shirt sleeves. Unless a pretty Roo lady wants to braid it for me...
my hair is about 3 feet long as i have never cut it before. def gonna be going the open ponytail route, unless some cutie wants to braid my hair (and possibly beard), there will be beer and other treats in it for you.

i have longish hair this year. i went on year and it was in between. i had to use two pigtails which made me sort of self conscious. im too old to wear pigtails anywhere besides roo. however, the two pigtails kept it off my neck. this year my hair is longer. i will likely bun it or try to high pigtails. pigtails and buns are not the sexiest but its so dang hot....my hair wont look good for long anyhow so ....tails it shall be
tip.....if you want beach hair for night...spray on some water with a bit of salt in it and then twist your hair into a bun....let it down at night and you will hve sexy beachy waves
<-----dreads here dont have to concerning myself with washing or styling
Personally, I think everyone still has to wash, regardless of hair style. I've had really long hair, and a shaved head. If I had to choose between the two extremes, shaved head no doubt about it. Me and my friend are probably shaving our heads right before leaving as part of the ritual, and for ease of keeping clean. Only caveat I'd offer to someone doing similar: put sunscreen on your head frequently. It's not used to seeing the sun.

lol I came here and saw the haircut pics from Chris....didn't realize that was from 2007 and thought he just had superior hair growing skills and had built that baby up since I met him at Roo last year. I was impressed. I think i'll just keep believing that.
