This is a dry run at the house. Gonna add 5 more feet and I have adaptations to allow the sides to come up, to help with lateral wind flow, if need be.
This is with the tent at Wanee.
Do you have any problems handling the wind with this tent? I like this set up....
And yeah, I'd practice settin' up your tent at least once before the festival. But also your neighbors will probably be happy to help out if they think you're strugglin'.
@sugar, when secured correctly, this structure will out last the pop-ups. It has been to the dessert twice and many other festivals. The only problem with wind, is lack of. You can make it where, with a few simple adjustments, one can lift the sides up, like this,
when there is lack of wind, and then lower the sides when wind is around.
and always pre-set up your camp before you go. you do not want any surprises, like, "Where are the poles?" "What poles?" "The fucking poles for the tent we are setting up!" "there were some rods, but they were broken into pieces, so I left them at home." "were the pieces the same size and all attached by a string?" "why yes they were. weird, how did you know?"

But also make sure you pack everything back up whenever you take down your pre-set up tent. I camped one time without the little rod that keep the rain fly arched over the door because I had left it on the ground when I took my tent down when airing it out.
Every year I am worried about space... I know that at least I can fit my tent, and I find it hard to believe we won't be able to find use for an ezup... It's coming so soon! 6 more days of work for me! Bonnnnarooooooooo!!!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.

Jeff and I are there right behind your super sweet set up Andrea. Looking this over I want another easy up and think we need to ditch the rain fly so we can get a breeze (if there is one.) We obvously need disco lights & fun fabric. Rugs have been purchased and I am excited!!!

Hey what do you guys use on the ground under your EZ Up (its hard to tell from these pics....)? I was thinking of getting some extra tarps, but it occurs to me that those might get blazing hot underfoot. Sheets seem thin, since I hear the grass can be really "poke-y" (for lack of a better term!). Those bamboo mats I see in a few pics look promising... hmmmmm...

I used a tarp last year under the EZ Up with a sheet over it. Worked out well and I could go barefoot! I also have a cheap little rug for in front of the tent leading to the EZ UP so again I can go barefoot. Clearly set up is all about my comfort.

I was wondering about that too mizvalentine. I think we may swing by a thrift store and pick up a comforter/blanket and wash it real quick before we leave

I'm telling ya, it's great to be able to kick off your shoes at your campsite and be comfortable!
I always put a tarp down under my campsite. Then I put some cloth like material like a sheet, right now it is some cheap old rugs, on top of the tarp. I love being able to take off the shoes and barefoot it around camp and being able to relax, lay down on the ground and not worry about itching form the grass is priceless!
Dude, it was AWFUL! Last year, I brought my trusty 12x12 screen house that worked perfectly out in GA in '08... I'd been uber-OCD and laid out all the poles, checked then re-checked. Then I checked a fourth time just to be sure.
The morning we got ready to leave, my "guest" (another long story - remind me to tell you later!) says "oh, those poles are for your old tent; since you bought a brand-new tent, you don't need 'em." WHY??? WHY DID I LISTEN TO HIM?!? WHY THE HOLY QUACK DIDN'T I TRUST MY QUACKIN' INSTINCT?!?
We got ready to set up the screen house and yep...you guessed it.
Not even Mr. Eagle Scout MikeD could save me with the 4 dozen *EXTRA* tent poles in various sizes (I mean, srsly, dude is wicked prepared for EVERYTHING!) - so the screen house stayed in the trunk.
I am now the proud owner of one 6-person tent, a shower tent, a 4' folding table, 2 EZ-ups, 3 chairs, 6 tarps, beaucoup bungee cords & carabiners, and - as of tonite - a 6'x9' super-soft outdoor rug that I snagged for $19 at Costco!!! I am a one-woman army of camping gear. Oh, and 2 disco balls. And enough gourmet beer, booze & snacks to start my own damn Whole Foods store. It's how I roll, baby! ;D

Im super excited about next week but have a small question/concern. I have my canopy and tent tarps etc ready to go, but im worried about theft. Do I need to put everything in my car except my tent and canopy everytime we leave camp? I will of course leave my cooler valuables etc in the car but im talking about like my cheap foldout chair pillows in the tent things like that. Any words of wisdom will help.

We have never had a problem and have left coolers, luggage etc. out. Make friends with your neighbors, watch their stuff, they'll watch yours. It's the neighborooowatch program.

absolutely, just get to know your neighbors. if you're in a high traffic area you may want to camouflage your cooler or put it in a tent but otherwise you should be ok

^^I think most theft is for big $$, small things, like things that fit in your pocket or a backpack. A thieving Wook has no use for a cooler or a chair, it brings them very little money for the risk.
I do hook my Coleman 5 day cooler to my EZ Up with a bike lock. You can take what's in it, but it's a damn good cooler and I paid way too much money for it to get taken. That being said, nothing has ever disappeared. Like Scrog said, it's small things. Lock it in your car or keep in on your person.

P.S. - and yes, I am 'Rooing solo this year.
SO happy to read this! I thought I was crazy for now being the owner of a 5-person tent, 2 EZ-Ups, an XL cot, four tarps, half a dozen tapestries/shower curtains/random fabric pieces, a big container of bungees and a few small rugs for inside the tent. And that's just what I bought last year. I already owned the reclining camp chair, camp end table, 2 fans and cooler.
I also saved the rug scraps from when I pulled up one from my house to bring with for the common area.

Last year someone stole a couple of our chairs and the beer that was in our cooler. It was a real bummer. If you have nice chairs you might want to at least stash them in your tent. And put your cooler away if you're going to be gone a long time. Damn wooks!
As far as tent poles go. I have thankfully never forgotten them, but my darling husband did snap one last year while we were setting up. 12 years of festivals and that tent never so much as had a drop of water leak and the poles are the originals and have been in all kinds of weather. But let my husband help with the set up and snap!
But I always have a roll of duct tape in my car thanks to my father and something he said to me when I was younger.
He said "Karen, the whole damn world is held together by duct tape. If a roll of this stuff can't fix something then nothing can."
