There's the general idea about how much space you get, but you never know exactly until you get there. Last year, the people to my right went to set up with their friends on the back side of our row, so there was a pretty good size space left that got split between the people next to the space. It's always a good idea to talk to your neighbors. You may be able to share shade and/or space.

This is a good way to get off on the right foot with your neighbors! You're gonna be next to each other fer a few days, at least start off bein' polite.

This is very good advice. Talk to your neighbors. See if you can combine your lots so you can make better use of the space. That will give everyone more room to set up tents and shade more effectively.
For example, lets say you can get the neighbors on both sides of you in on the idea. You could park two cars in one space and park the third one, making an L shape against the rising sun. Then you combine resources to create a nice shaded area for all of your tents.

It might not look like much, but I had the inside of my XB flat with a bed made-up inside.
Outside we had a shower tent to keep fresh and an Easy-up to keep everything shaded. The small tent stored my containers and coolers full of supplies.
We were way out on the NE end of the farm in Camp King Jaffe something. You can see the edge of the property in the picture. This made for a quick escape after DMB Sunday night.
Out of picture is our neighbors Easy-up which became our little community chill spot, hence no seating in this picture:
This year I'm not going to bother sleeping inside the car. I'm going to add some tarp-walls to the Easy-up with a gap at the bottom for breeze, and I'll buy two camp-cots for me and my gf. Hopefully this will be a little less stuffy than the inside of my car after four days at Roo.

It's funny you added that. The first thing I thought when you said you slept in the car was "That must have smelled great Sunday."
my lady and I went alone in 2009 this was early friday morning I think and we could kinda see centeroo in the back of Ed Rooney someone cut the fence and it made getting to the portas and food vendors way easier
I have more camp photos from different years but have to find 'em
we had that same shade tent for 2007 plus three dome tents 2 small 1 med size it was better than my first year no shade tent but felt like it held heat a little ez up is the way to go if possible

apparently i dont have pics of my camp... but here is everyone elses.
last year we had 4 cars, but we got split up at the ticket booths, so only two got to camp next to eachother and share space...
this year were taking 2 cars again and hopefully we will have enough room for our two tents and ez-up, along with all the sheets and things i plan on trying to make shade with this year.
last year we died in our 8 man tent because we didnt have shade or anything to block the sun............just dont do it! this year we are bringing the shade!
Shade is the most important thing to bring to 'Roo aside from your ticket! 'Twas a valuable lesson I learned my first year. This is all we had to help us hide from the ever-present sun in 2007.
Two tarps (of slightly different sizes) stretched across our two cars that year. We had no pole of any kind to elevate the tarps and create much needed airflow, so we crushed a bunch of beers upon arrival and duck taped the beers cans together.

This made me laugh! Very creative of you though!!!

last year we had absolutely no shade. we had to say down in the shadows of our tents, and that only lasted a few hours. then it was off to the cinema or to fight for tree shade.
This is a dry run at the house. Gonna add 5 more feet and I have adaptations to allow the sides to come up, to help with lateral wind flow, if need be.
i'm going on my own and to be honest have never set up a tent in my life, much less an ez up. Are neighbours usually good with helping out?
I've never had any problems with neighbors helping out. You'll be fine. I would however at least try and set your stuff up before hand just to get an idea of things work.
