Any of you that use tarps or sheets as shade walls, do you attach them at the bottom also or do you just let them blow in the breeze? Could the wind potentially create a giant parachute of you your EZ-up if the sheets are attached at the bottom? I'm definitely bringing some sheets this year, and I am honestly curious.
Don't use a tarp for more than one wall unless you want to build an oven.
Sheets go at the top, use big clips to clamp it to the top of your EZ-Up. To keep it from blowing too much, use rope + stakes at the bottom. You want a gap at the bottom / sides for air to blow through. As far as the sail thing... make sure you use the giant coleman tent stakes and / or some kind of weight (cement blocks, sandbags, the cooler, your passed out drunk friend) to keep your EZ-Up down.
Most of the "flying through the air" EZ-Ups I've seen are where people don't stake them properly.
You want those. They're strong enough that you can literally take a rope, tie it to the clamp, tie a stake to the other end of the rope, and lock down anything. Bottom of the sheets, parts of your campsite, etc... They are exactly the right size to clamp things to the metal framework of EZ-Ups.
Much thanks for the clamp secrets! I just ordered some and had them shipped to my Wed evening Nashville hotel. Let's do this!
Thank goodness for this thread in reassuring me that my camp set-up won't be too large. Since last 'Roo, we bought a new six-person tent (there are three of us coming) and I was so worried that our tent would be too large. So yeah, thanks for easing my pre-roo anxiety a bit. Now I'm just anxious to be on the farm!
Is there a thread for camper/RV setups? Mine and my husband's first year going, but we are going with friends that normally tent camp when they go, but we all decided to bring a camper.
I couldn't do a dry run this year, because SOMEONE (cough Grumpy cough) forgot my shit..... But this is what my site should, tentatively, look like. I'm just in pre-planning mode and getting excited and wanted to give this thread a bump to try and raise some excitement in others too! Woo!
This is from 2014. and instead of in front of my tent, the pink canopy will be over my tent. I don't have 2 canopies anymore, but I'll be in groop, so it won't matter anyways.
