I got in the gates at 7:30am but it doesn't matter because I was in access.
I did watch them fill up the campground tho. I wandered while it happened so I got a good look at it. They do indeed fill up BFE first. After that they filled it up from centeroo back up to Bushy Branch, Then started with Camp Lando and worked back again. Shifted over one and filled the next column and so on. I think the last sites to get parked were the ones on the other side of Bushy Branch.
I could be wrong but that's how I saw it. i hope we can put the clues together and figure out for next year.

SUPER GOOD info, anyone else with anything like this?

After 3 roos and being in BFE twice it was something that was kind of important. Plus it was one of the major concerns on this board for months pre-roo.
Plus, I had a nice happy buzz and my camp was all set-up, there was no music, so in my Bonnawoorld that means it's time to wander and soak things in. ;D
we came from the nashville area. got there around 1? like everyone else said exit 111 was closed all the way to 127? or something. so we ended up going the 15 miles out of the way and turning around. i think we waited 3 hours? in line. ended up being in chewbacca camp around 3:30?
I don't think the last sites they filled up were the ones out in Austin Powers. We got there at around 11:30 AM Thursday morning and wound up in Camp Prince Akeem, way out on the other side of Bushy Branch on the treeline. They put most of the cars that came in when we did on Bushy Branch out there.
Next year we're taking something other than Bushy Branch. In 06 we wound up in Ed Rooney coming in about the same time, but I don't want to be in BFE again...

This info combined with what i saw makes it so that they fill up BFE and Austin Powers at the same time. THEN, they fill up the rest in columns like I said above.
I think the very last spots to fill are to the left of the house on Bushy Branch. Venkman, Spicolli, John Bender, etc...
we drove straight through from connecticut and arrived (after waiting for our companion vehicle after they got pulled over and searched) at about 3pm on thursday.
we were in luke skywalker, right on the edge of 8th ave. our neighbors were very quiet.
Left to Bonnaroo coming from Georgia around 5 AM, and took a nap in Dalton around 6. Got to Manchester around 8:30 AM and drove down the highway until I found an opening near exit 114, and only had to wait for about 30 mins in line. I got a nice spot on the corner of Shakedown St.
we left clarksburg, wv around 3 a.m....stopped in knoxville wal mart around 12 30(tried sams, but screw that place, we went to checkout with a whole cart full of beer and they wldnt sell it to us bc i didnt have id. everyone i was with was 25-30 yr olds)made it into manchester around 2 30 / 3, but after isttin through about 4 hours of traffic we finally made it into teh farm at about 7. camped out in bfe, camp dr. evil. prob 45 mins to get to centeroo. but we made it in on thurs in time for clutch
drove halfway from Norfolk, VA to the VA/TN border on wednesday night.... Drove another 6-7 hours to the farm Thursday morning... arrived to a 7 mile line about about 3pm, about 4 hours later, we rolled onto the farm to the sweet sounds of Ryan Shaw Band playing...
oh yea we started overheating in that bigass line of traffic and had to drive most of the way with the heat on full blast. my brother and I were taking turns driving and walking along side the highway. what fun
got in line at 8-9 am thursday, waited a few hours... got off at exit 112, ended up in camp dr. rumack, near pod 6. it was an awesome spot, highly recommended.

We got off at 112 or something Wednesday evening around 7 or so. We were able to get a nice spot in the line just before they opened the gates. They started letting us in at like 8:30 or something. We waited probably 35 minutes in line at the gate, then about another 20 getting to the site. We were in camp James Bod initially, but then moved to tent only early on Thursday morning.
we got into the 112 gates around 1 or so and we were at the corner of 3rd & East 3rd, about a 10 minute walk. i still cant figure out what our camp site was named
Some friends of mine showed up around 11 Thurs night. They barely waited in line and ended up in Camp Ed Rooney (I think-that area at least). Missed alot of Thurs fun though

My group parked around 10pm on thursday night and we were in camp Axel Foley, a nice spot since that is right next to the exit and not a long walk to the festival entrance.

BFE means butt f%$*ing Egypt, just means way out in the sticks, far away, etc.
Me and my crew came from Indiana, I don't know the exact exits, but we arrived around 10AM and were waved past the first 2 exits and had to go all the way to Veterans Memorial Drive, and then backtrack on Route 41, got on I-24 N at the exit near the hotels and Wal Mart, and then entered from there, we had handicapped access parking last year but no one of authority on the roads knew where to direct us to until we neared the gates. Found out afterwards we should have been able to enter at a much closer exit and skip all the lines. Set up camp around 3 or so, it was a pretty long and frustrating day, longest I've ever had to wait. Previous years we have arrived in line off of Bushy Branch around 6AM and had camp set up by 8M out in BFE. Trying to avoid bieng out so far this year but we'll see, any hints would be greatly appreciated. We are again coming from the north.

So how viable is the getting off of I24 @ 105, and taking 41 to the 114 exit and getting back on I24 west.
^^this is exactly what i am wondering. I'm coming down from Louisville...any suggestions? Can't you exit at 105 and hit 41 right to 55 or is is better to exit at 105 (even exit 97...would that work?) and then get back on I-24 going west to pick up the makeshift exit 112? Help please....
I'm trying really hard to make sense of this....But really, it seems like it doesn't necessarily depend on when you come in as much as where. Last year, we took some shortcut (trying to remember that one desperately) and arrived AFTER some people we knew, but got through the gates first...Anyway, we were much closer, right at the arch really. We arrived, I think, between 9 and...well 11.
So...after all this talk, no one really seems to know what is the best time or place or why?
