I did my first fest of the year this weekend which confirmed how much I FREAKING LOVE my festie wear.. but leaves me torn.. Since I have three fests within a month period I kind of want MORE DRESSES to avoid such near repeats..
Just a reminder: everyone should bring something to cover up with in case they get burned. I bring a lightweight cotton cardigan and last year, it was a life-saver since my shoulders got burned on Friday. I draped it over my shoulders, under my backpack straps.
I do something very similar. I keep a big (but light) cotton scarf thing in my camelbak. It has been used to cover suburnt shoulders during the day, extra warmth at night and as a cooleroffer when doused in water.. Win/Win/Win.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

You can never have too many dresses!
I have accumulated about 15 "Roo" dresses and usually bring at least 6 with me each year. I don't always wear them all but I like to have choices depending on my mood and the weather. I somehow acquire at least one new one every year......
I have accumulate clothes like crazy as well. I have 20-25 festival dresses, but at least 10 are a little big.. some are getting old... and others.. well.. sometimes you just don't like them as much as you used to! I think I could 10ish that I would consider wearing with only a few that I jump up and down in excitement for.
PS Dreamingtree. We thanked you out loud for booking that condo many times over the weekend It was really nice, really close and Jeff was staying with friends in their condo so we actually hung out with him a bunch. He was fabulous. Offered a bottle of wine to us (which he previously asked us not to touch) and made jokes about my scabbed up knees that I arrived with. Such a good time!

Seeing that I'm new-ish to Nashville and still learning the cool places to shop, any way you can throw some names my way???

Linz, I would hit up TJ Maxx in Brentwood (Franklin Road by the Kroger) because they get all of the good designer stuff that the other TJ's don't get. I would go to Forever 21 at Cool Springs Mall, Ross in Franklin (by the Old Navy) has had some pretty great finds lately....but you have to dig through some pretty ugly crap to get to it. Let's see... If you're "ballin'" go to Green Hills Mall and the Hill Center on Hillsboro Road. If you're not "ballin'" don't bother...they have great stuff but it gets expensive down there. If you're broke like moi, try the suggestions above. And hey, the offer is open to you too... Message me and we'll meet up somewhere and do some shopping!
I know it's been stated in this thread, but I feel like the festival utility belt I bought will end up being my most prized roo purchase. Thanks so much to Clarity for posting the link as I didn't even know these things existed. There are tons of cute, reasonably priced ones on etsy. Many of you will agree that loose skirts are the way to go, but the main drawback is the lack of pockets. The ability to remain hands free and also not have flip a backpack/camelbak around is awesome. Not to mention, most of them look pretty sweet!

I sort of creeped the board last year (it was my first Roo! my first music festival! I needed help but was too shy!) and this year, I finally joined. You ladies are all so inspirational. I barely have money to get to Roo this year, although I'm making it work, so needless to say I haven't been able to spend anything on clothes. I bought Sanuks and new sunglasses (practically blind so they had to be prescription), and that's it! I'm so sad. Looks like I'll be Rooing it up in jean shorts and tanks again. Next year I'm determined to rock some dresses and/or skirts, a la all you fabulous women.
Question, and I know I read some about this last year when I read all 200+ pages (yeah), but I can't find it again. Is anyone plus sized (18+) and what have you found is the most comfortable way to dress for the heat and comfort and everything? Is it still skirts and tanks? I was determined to be smaller by this Roo but it didn't happen, so I probably won't be below plus by next time, and I'm going to start strategizing early!

I always preferred dresses with bike shorts underneath. Multiple pieces meant that I was constantly readjusting myself so I stopped with the skirts early on. But I have come to really like wearing a pair of cargo capris with a tank or tee at night. I find I'm moving more at night and having to constantly stop to get my phone/camera/money/other out of my backpack is annoying. So I sacrifice flowy-ness for practicality. Daytime practical isn't always the same as nighttime practical.
But for me, the most important thing was to be happy with what I was wearing. I'm much happier wearing a flowy dress with sleeves and a bright scarf on my head than a pair of shorts, a tank & a bandana, even if the latter is less material & more breathable. I feel cuter and have less to adjust and thus can just focus on the music instead of worrying that not only am I fat but I'm also not looking too cute. So sort through what you have and what you're bringing. Add a few more colors and some accessories so you can feel as beautiful as you are. Even in 50 million degree heat and 500% humidity.

Welcome!! As for what is most comfortable, I think that really depends on the person. For me, I couldn't imagine wearing anything that was not cotton. But someone earlier in this thread mentioned that they like rayon! (I personally find synthetic fabrics make me sweat more)
And, as a girl, I always overpack for Roo and bring anything/everything I think I might want to wear. That way, it keeps my options open if something isn't working out.

Thank you so much! It was so dry last year at Roo and so I'm hoping that being from Southern Ohio where it is so humid will prepare me for what looks to be shaping up to be a waaaaaay more humid experience. I like the advice about things that you have to adjust less-- that hadn't even occurred to me, even after last year!

Thank you for the welcome! I'm a cotton girl too-- "fake" fabrics definitely make me feel hotter, and whether it is a mental thing or not, it's still what my body feels and that is what is gonna matter when I'm wondering why it feels like I can't stop sweating.
Hey Echo!!! Welcome to the GFT! Im with the other ladies here - be comfy/happy in what you're wearing. I've been known to wear something a little impractical, but it makes me feel SPECTACULAR so I rock it (i.e. Rootus?!). And dcbee has a great point too - if you're saving cash, then take what you have and just flair it up a bit. Go through your closet and pull out all that stuff you have stashed away - remember that Roo is "Roo Life" not "real life". you may have a lovely hat/scarf that you bought ages ago, got it home and thought 'what was I thinking, i could NEVER wear this out in public!' but it would be PERFECT for Bonnaroo. I mean, some people at Roo who would NEVER show off their cleavage at home or even at a club, Go full on painted topless for the weekend. So don't hesitate to really dig in there. Bonnaroo is a "be happy and confident with yourself, very little inhibition" type of place

JHOinTN-- I'm gutted! Not at all for Bonnaroo shopping, but man, I love some of the accessories and shoes and stuff at J.Crew and I hate to pass up on a code/sale like that. Too bad. Looking forward to no longer being a broke college student in the next couple of years, that's for sure.

Heya, Mayo! Thanks for the welcome hello! It really is a be happy and confident kinda place, and while it is definitely Roo Life and not Real Life, I totally carried some of that back into Real Life with me last year, which I totally wasn't expecting. So stoked to be getting ready to do it all again. And shopping my own (or my mom's, since I give her the stuff I won't wear) closet is such a great suggestion!
Looking forward to no longer being a broke college student in the next couple of years, that's for sure.
We've all been there I don't buy clothes unless there's a sale/code like that.
But I'm getting really picky with my swimsuits as I get older. I'm not a cute, skinny teenager anymore! It's hard to find good, supportive swimsuits that cover what needs to be covered. I'm hoping these J Crew ones will end up being a good bet.

Are Croc jellies more comfortable than the old jellies? I remember jellies gave me the worst blisters back in the day. . . .
I'm going on an Old Navy run this weekend, and I may even try to make something for myself (either a hip bag or a pair or shorts/pants). . . .can't believe it's coming so soon! I pretty much just have this weekend, because I'm checking out Nashville and Memphis for a few days before Bonnaroo.
