i also need hat advice. i look terrible in hats. all hats. i've never had luck finding something that looks good on me because of my big head (it's obviously all the knowledge in there).... anyone have any suggestions of stores that have a good hat selection?
also, i went to target today to get some rain boots and they said that they're "out of season"... out of season? really? i'm looking for some that are low cut boot type instead of knee high or calf high. i have big calves so most boots and things don't fit me.
I have the same giant head, so I can't help you there. But try Amazon for rain boots. Many will have the boot circumference, so you'll know if they will fit your calves. Plus, lots of options.
If you want super real looking fake Ray Bans, try ioffer.com. They come from China and take about a month to get to your house, but you seriously can't tell the difference between the fakes and the real ones...and they're only, like $15.00 each. I've bought real Ray Bans and they are worth buying for everyday, but I would be bummed out if I lost them or ruined them at Roo. I order 2 or 3 pairs from ioffer.com before ROo every year in a bunch of styles. If I lose them, so what?
Is there a big quality difference between those and the real ray bans you have? In terms of clarity and how good they block out sunlight
I'm not an expert on the subject, but I think that they're pretty decent. I think that the frames are Ray Ban quality. The lenses are probably Target quality...which ain't bad

ugh. shopping is so difficult!
I got rain boots at Tractor Supply Co. They had a ton of different styles.

i didn't even think to look there. are they patterned or like basic black and other solid colors?
Try looking on zappos for hats. They have a really large selection and if you know your hat size you can search by that, if not, at least they have a S/M/L option instead of everything being a "universal" fit.

They had a little bit of everything. Mine have a little daisy-like pattern on them, but they had polka dots and other patterns as well as solid colors.

OMG this makes me happy, because I need to go to Tractor Supply and had no idea they had rain boots!

I just double checked their website, because I got mine last year, and they still have 'em. There's a pair of Western Chief's for $20. They always have a better selection in the store though.
I had never heard of it, but there's a Tractor Supply not far away from me! I might go check it out! I love my rain boots, but I'm always apprehensive to wear them on the farm because I think I'll get too sweaty (though I do bring them every year). Shorties might be a good alternative...
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Rain boots are hot but they are great for when the sinks and portas get ridiculously muddy. I just walked right up there no problem while people lose their flip flops in the swamp.
I'm having a tough time deciding on shoes. I looove my Sanuks but they just weren't enough last year. Pod 1 had a path of rocks to walk on and my feet hurt sooo bad. Crocs were better, but still not great. I think I'm finally going to get some real shoes. What kind of shoe do I want? Don't tell me to read the best shoe thread

Read it!! My vote is always for Keens. I have multiple pairs in different styles and colors and usually bring two with me. I have the Venice H2, the Newport H2, and the Mackenzie. I've never found a more comfortable shoe for Bonnaroo. I use my crocs for showers and if it's a little muddy, but don't usually use them for walking too far.

My go to back up is always chucks with a low ankle sock. They're perfect. Unless it's wet. Thus my search for comfy, short, rain boots.
I feel ya on the sanuks tho. They did great, but that one stretch of rocks was pretty terrible on my poor feet. Luckily I wasn't camped there myself, but I visited a friend who was camped there several times and it was rough.
I looked into those, but I think I want my feet covered. I discovered I feel so much better if my feet stay somewhat clean.
...just kidding they don't just make sandals
I even have Keen's boots and leather sandals Check out the Keen Mackenzie - it's like a hiking shoe, all covered but super lightweight. I have not worn them to Roo, because I like my feet to be open, but I've worn them hiking with socks and they are awesome. www.amazon.com/Keen-Womens-Mckenzie-Water-Raven/dp/B008J4G7T2
This will be my first time at Bonnaroo and I've been loving reading everyone's advice I am just wondering...is it crazy to wear my Minnetonka moccasin ankle boots? I've had them forever and walked a ton in them and I've never had a problem. They won't work if it rains, then I'll switch to something else but just for a typical day?

I've seen people wearing shoes like these and even full boots at Bonnaroo, but I cannot imagine how hot your feet would get. It's unthinkably hot at Bonnaroo and the last thing I want is for my feet to be hotter and sweatier than they need to be. Also, the ground is pretty rough, and you will walk miles each day. It's totally about what you are comfortable with, but I can't imagine they would be ideal for the weather.
Oh and welcome to the girly fashion thread... Sorry I tend to forget formalities most of the time

I bought these on Amazon last year specifically for Bonnaroo and they are still going strong. I wore them all summer long and even last night when I went to the pool. They're a bit pricey, but super, and I mean super lightweight. The insert is kind of like a thin wet suit bootie/water shoe with a puncture resistant sole. The outer material is similar to Crocs. You can wear them with or without the inserts. If worn without you will feel the rocks (not a problem where I was camped), but you'll get a cool pattern of Bonnadirt on your feet. I did both ways last year and was very comfortable. I don't think I even wore the Teva's I brought.

theclymb.com is a good site for shoes, as well as dresses and such. Deeply discounted items (they have vivobarefoots for as low as $40 right now). Also great deals on adventure trips, and all kinds of stuff (camping stuff too). New deals daily! I've bought a few things from the site, and I've been happy with all my purchases so far!
If you see something you'd like, I'd appreciate if you'd go through my "invite friends" option (just discovered this as I was typing this post, so why not?)!

Thanks for the welcome! The heat is definitely a valid point I guess I've never really felt like I had over-heated feet haha. I have been to TN in the summer it is definitely HOT and humid. I'll just have to bring a bunch of options and see what works
Rain boots are kind of hot. Someone mentioned that they cut a slit in theirs so they can fold them down. Seems kind of genius.
This was me! I'm happy your brought it up. It does wonders as they don't lose any of their effectiveness. It also helps with large calves. I have tree trunk calves and I feel your pain sister.
I have my packing pretty much down to a science but am always on the look out for perfect Roo clothes. I bring a lot of clothes and pick tops that comfortably and not hideously pair with a variety of bottoms. Mostly it's dress, comfy ( I need underwire) bras, and wicking bike shorts.
That being said, I change at least twice a day. Bring a variety cause when it's wicked hot out, you'll just want to feel comfortable.
Still haven't attempted any tie dying. I work fewer doubles next week so maybe then!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
I second what Monie said about Chucks. They are THE shoe to wear if you want your feet covered without too much bulk.
Have you ever tried waterproofing Chucks? I've seen some methods for doing that online. Or is it not worth it to bother?
If you can find sticks or blocks of beeswax it's really easy. you just rub the wax all over the canvas part then use a blow dryer to melt it and rub it in evenly as you go. It does, of course, make the shoes less breathable though so take that into consideration. Also, if you need a lot of arch support chucks are not the shoe to go with for all four days unless you use inserts.

Could you possibly post a picture of your cut rain boots (if you have one)? I was wondering how far down you cut them, how you fold them, etc.
Love neon nancy. If you've got the body to walk around in a bra all weekend they're worth checking out. They also have really awesome light up tutus and spirit hoods.
I've always kind of wondered about this. I've never gone the bike shorts route because I worry I'll lose that breeze factor and will just have an extra layer of sweaty material clinging to me. Do y'all use wicking bike shorts? Can you tell a difference with different kinds?
^^Yes, definitely the wicking kind! Target has sales on them fairly often, or you could try Marshalls/TJ Max. I have tried cotton bike shorts and men's boxer briefs, but the wicking bike shorts are by FAR the most comfortable/breathable. Just make sure the legs are long enough to cover your thighs.
I second this! I actually splurged on a nice pair of under armour brand, but other brands work too as long as they are the wicking material.
Saw this video yesterday. Think I may try this one soon. DIY tie-dye leggings.
Would leggings get too hot though?
As a ginger I often have to cover up more so than the average human. I try to keep thing loose, and breezy though. After my first year at roo I had the worst sunburn ever. I learned very fast.
