My training is going really well - although I also have my wedding 2 weeks before Roo to motivate me!
I have lost 12 lbs ( I am now 124!!) and am doing Tae Bo or walking 2 miles a few times a week. So I think I will be in good shape plus I am going to fit into that wedding dress and look good in it! ;D

^^What kind of tour will you be on for the first two weeks? Two cities, same hotel for two weeks or several locations? That makes a difference in the answer.
I have a hotel workout kit that goes with me when I travel. Jump rope, resistance bands, ankle weights, hand wraps. When I don't feel like working out in the hotel closet/workout room I stay in my room and do a combination of exercises - cardio and resistance band. I either use the jump rope for cardio or punch and kick combos.
The phone book makes a good weight as well. And you can always do enough squats, mountain climbers, body builders, pushups, leg drops, etc. to get in a good balanced workout. Use your body against yourself.
I'll be in Shanghai, Beijing, and X'ian for the first two weeks. I'm really hoping the gyms at the hotels are reasonable. But thanks for the in-hotel room tips, I'll see what kind of gear I can get in with my luggage, and I guess if it comes down to after that is motivation more than anything. Probably try to write myself up a minimum reps schedule for each day.
I do no trainig at all for Roo, You will get very tired no matter how much you train. Latenights I feel like a zombie walking around Roo im so tired and I get killer backpain from standing all day. I also found that due to all the walking and sweating in the heat and water I have to drink a lot of beer to feel good its like you walk it off.
In addition to varying the machines you use and exercises you do, also vary your intensity. When you're doing cardio, don't just race yourself up to a high heart rate and stay there. Spend time at lower heart rates, do interval workouts and never underestimate the power of a nice long walk.
My exact reaction. You have probably entered a catabolic state where your extreme calorie deficiency will now only make you put on weight. Up your calories, and i personally prefer a high protein low carb moderate fat macro breakdown. Also as someone else said, don't be afraid to lift weights, it will help boost your gh and test, helping burn fat. Also keep your heart rate in the fat burning zone instead of the cardio, i believe around 120-130.
First and foremost--thank you all for your advice. I've been hitting different machines at the gym this past week and I've been sorer and more worn out because of it-- and I love that feeling.
I do, however, have a question about the intensity factor. Today, I started out doing 35 on an elliptical, and then moved on to a stationary bike. I wanted to see how long it would take me to burn the amount of calories I had burnt on the elliptical on the bike while working in the recommended "fat burning" zone. It took twice as long. I won't complain, since it gives me an opportunity to watch the Cubs' game, but is working out in this zone for longer better that working at my peek HR for 30mins? Or is it switching up the activity that matters? ???
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...

^^It's varying your intensity. One day you want to do aerobic base - warm up, work up to near your max, stay there for 30-40 minutes and then cool back down. Another day you want to do intervals - warm up, then spend two minutes at max, two minutes 15 bpm lower for two minutes, varying for 40 minutes then cool down. Another day should be active recovery - low zones the whole time.

Actually, the more you train for endurance, the less quickly you will tire. Drinking lots of central nervous system depressants will make you tire faster. If you don't want to train for roo, it's your prerogative, of course. Don't come all up ins and tell us it's not worth it, because it is.
I work hard @ work, nice manual labor, come home, take care of boys, put boys to bed, take dog for long walk, come home pop open a fat tire, turn on Radio Bonnaroo, read inforoo, and scan internet for pics and vids of Bonnaroo, that my friends, is how i train for Bonnaroo. Hasn't failed me yet.

Setting up training regiments is always good. I try to get out and run a few times a week, and do the push/sit/pull up sets on the other days. I rarely use free weights, but if you are trying to bulk up a little bit, find a friend who is into weight lifting and have them train you. They'd love it lol.
As far as training for 'Roo goes, getting enough sleep is key. However, that is not usually the case, so maybe try varying your sleep schedule the week or so prior to 'Roo. Get a massive night's sleep one night, then attempt to stay up until about 5 am for a day or two. Remember there's no sleeping in baked out tents at 830 am : ).
Also try building up the immune system. This comes hand in hand with working out anyway, but take your vitamins, drink looots of heady green and black teas, and eat right.
Yesterday I started a phase of physical training.... I'm a cyclist so cardio, etc. is not a problem. I cleaned out the garage yesterday and got baked.... I mean fried..... I mean.... burnt? Yeah, Yeah, that's it, I got a pretty good sunburn! I forgot all about that crispy feeling.

I have let myself gain a lot of weight the past few years. So I need to get my a** in gear. I bought a Nordic Trac Skier through Craigslist for $30!! It takes a while to get the motion (kind of like an eliptical but the foot pads don't move up and down). I read some user reviews that said it is a total body workout and it really is. I can feel my abs, back, arms, shoulders and legs all getting a workout. A typical hour on the machine burns 600 calories.
Good luck to all of you!! For now I just need to stay away from the junk food.

WAY TO GO IDIOTEQUE!!! I'm down about 30 lbs and 4 inches in the waist (down from a 42 to a 38) since January. I'll probably drop another 10 and 2 before Roo.

Nice job guys I also have lost a bunch since January - 16 lbs (which is a lot considering I am pretty small). I am now 122lbs with 2 more to go till my goal.
27 days before I have to get into that wedding dress, and 39 before Roo ;D

thank you thank you
im now down 20 lbs.. with 4 weeks to go, we shall see if i can pull 30. im pretty excited either way.
getting into a 38. wow, that'd be like high school! i never did, and regret not doing physical measurements. but shirts that never fit me, fit. pants are way baggier.
I've cut down about 15 lbs so far since early Feb... I'm hovering around 245, but haven't lost much more since the musk-les are getting bigger. lol
Couldn't believe that I was around 260 when I first started back in the club on a hardcore basis. Didn't really look like it, but then again, I'm 6'4. I think that I'd still like to cut down a little bit before Roo. My ridiculous cardio regimen's been working well for cutting down...
On a random note... I had a short convo with Bernard Hopkins in the gym earlier today. He's part owner of the athletic club where I go.

I'm down 16 since February and up in muscle mass. Also, my RMR is up 600 calories since Feb. Quite a testament to the metabolic power of muscle.
I still want to change my body quite a bit, but I have no idea how much I want to lose b/c I keep gaining muscle so the scale isn't a good measure. It's so fun to set a goals and achieve them.
Yeah... I'm pretty much forgetting the scale for the most part by now. I was interested on my weight loss at the beginning, but I've definitely plateaued weight wise, and may be going up a bit with the gain in muscle mass.
Speaking of which, it's my day off, and I'm about to hit the club for a nice 3 hour session with a bit of dinner at the cafe there. Veggie burger with tomato, lettuce, BBQ sauce, caramelized onions and mushrooms... Mmmm...

Just a suggestion....if you are working out at a gym or fitness center with a sauna, USE IT! After doing some cardio and lifting weights, your heart rate is up (simulating walking around/interacting at Roo). If you get used to sitting in a 180 degree sauna , TN heat shouldn't be a problem.
