I have a pair of Sidewalk Surfers, which i like a lot, but I recently got a pair of Vibram Fivefingers Komodo which are amazing. They are a pain to get on but I absolutely LOVE them. I really dislike wearing shoes in general and these give me the barefoot feeling while providing protection for the soles of my feet.

I will definitely be rocking my new VFF's this year. I would love to walk barefoot outside like I would as a kid, but let's face it, that is a scary thought for all the shit you'd be dealing with on the farm. This is the closest I can get and the most comfortable shoes I've had.
They also get much easier to slip on as you wear them. I looked like a toddler trying to put on my first pair of gloves the first few times. Now it's just a matter of sliding them on like a pair of socks and lining up the seam.

I usually stick with Toms...I add gel insoles because I have terrible feet and then they are perfect. I wore my Hunter rainboots for all 5 days of Glastonbury a few years ago and ended up with blisters and plantar fasciitis so bad I couldn't walk for like 3 days...so now I am very careful about only wearing boots for a few hours and always having gel insoles and heel pads.
Just a warning to anyone trying to buy Sanuks-- I've been screwed out of a pair on two distributers websites cause they are going out of stock so fast that its letting you order them when they actually dont exist. I tried explaining to customer service that I just want a pair of sidewalk surfers period--color doesnt matter--but they won't reply to my emails.
I wear (I think) a size 8 womens so I'm sure its a popular size. They are backordered until the end of May which doesn't really help. But I am stuck in the middle of nowhere for work at the moment and can't go anywhere within 4+ hours to find a place with these shoes.
Is there anything else cost-relative to sidewalk surfers? Chacos are way overpriced. Perhaps when I go home for the few days before Roo I'll try to find a pair of shoes, but I'd really like to get things shipped to me ahead of time so I'm not scrambling to find things -_-

Which websites have you used? I got mine from 6pm.com for half price but they only have really large sizes left now. I always get shoes from Zappos with no problems but I am not sure where you have tried so far...

I won't release the names because today must have been my lucky day--they both responded, one with a refund & apology and the other simply asked what my second preference for a color was. Hooray!

Yay!! You're gonna like them; they are quite the comfy sandal.

Do these have any kind of support or is it really like being barefoot?
My girlfriend is wondering if her Sanuks or Tom's would work? I wore both last year and my ankles ended up super swollen. I won't be wearing those this year but of course I'm not the one trying to look cute. Any advice? I noticed you guys mentioned putting in a gel insert, maybe that would work. I'm really just trying to keep complaining to a minimum and it will definitely start with her feet lol

The VFF's are really like being barefoot. I thought my feet would be sore on the balls or heels after a full day of wearing them and walking around. Surprisingly, I was in no hurry to slide them off when I got home. It was nice to just wiggle my toes during the day and not have my feet clammy.
thanks to this thread I got two pairs of sanuk's, one pick pocket and the other carpe DM's. I love them. I have had support issues as with other shoesl, normally stuck with wearing New Balance shoes for support. I wear the sanuk's all day at work and they are awesome.
I wore a pair of keens to all points west a few years ago, they were great except for getting rocks and sand in them. That weekend was pretty rainy so the shoes were good for the mud, but i kept having to rinse them off. A friend had some crocs and ended up taking them off as they would just pry off in the mudd.
I dont know how well the sanuks will stand up to the mudd, but we shall find out!

I'm not sure if it was wearing my Sanuks for a week straight but my right foot is seriously quacked up now. Its been sore for days, and the shoes are the only reason I could imagine being the cause.
I just got a pair of the Vibram Fivefingers Bikila LS. They are the best! They do have some arch support, not a lot though. Super comfy. They're made to be awesome running shoes, but the sole is perfect for all kinds of surfaces. You can hose em down if they get muddy and machine wash em when you get home. They have a lace-up style that makes them fit snugly. The toe pockets are cool, and they aren't hard to get on. As long as you're not an idiot.
I'd only not recommend them to people with missing or webbed toes.
If you have high arches and/or usually wear very supportive footwear, Sanuks may not be for you. A gel insole or something may help but I can't say for sure. Personally all I wear since I got my first pair is Sanuks. I have 2 pair and there is a buy 1 get 50% off sale at a store that's closing and my GF needs a pair so I'll probably grab a third this weekend. I love them but they're not going to be for everybody. I would suggest looking at the footwear you normally wear and get something that is a more comfortable version.
Does anyone know if the straps on these sandals rub uncomfortably? Nothing worse than blisters/rub burns on the tootsies at a fest. I'm debating picking up a new pair of shoes for 'Roo and these are the least fugly durable-looking sandals I've seen. I have short Hunter wellies, but I'm afraid they'll be too hot to wear all day, esp. if I need to wear socks with them. I also debated wearing my Toms, but I think they're too small to add a gel insole, and I don't think they're padded enough without adding one. Anyone ever have any luck with Sperry Topsiders at 'Roo? They're pretty comfy and meant to get wet...

I've worn my Hunter wellies to many festivals...they were fine heat-wise at Glastonbury (though after 5 days in them my feet were near death) where it wasn't exceptionally hot, but at Lollapalooza (90+ degrees Chicago heat) I was dieing, and had to go back to the hotel to change back into my Toms despite the mud. High, super absorbant socks actually help keep them cooler if the mud is just unavoidable...I use Nike soccer socks or my old equestrian socks.
I just got a pair of New Balance Minimus Lifes. They are hands down the most comfortable and lightest shoes that I have ever had. They seriously feel like socks with a little tread at the bottom. No laces and they just slip on. I will probably get some type of inserts to see if that helps as well. Every year at night at Roo, my feet are always the thing holding me back from enjoying it more.

I LOVE my Carpe DM's from Sanuk and tried to order my BFF a pair cause she liked mine. Could not FIND a pair of Carpe DMs in womens in less than a size 9 online or in the stores. Luckily she's like and 8.5 so I ordered her THE LAST size 9 pair that Zappos had knowing she could return them for free if they didn't fit. I LOVE mine! Am so surprised that the Carpe DMs are not around anyomore.....Mens are easier to find than womens!
I dont feel like buying new shoes and trying to break them in at Bonnaroo. My plan is to buy like those Dr. Scholl gel shoe inserts and trying those out. Are you Gel'in? ;D
My vote is in for the Sanuk's, too. The tivas leave horrible tan lines. and tend to give me blisters ... PLUS .... they leave your toes at risk for mangling.
You may find them IN STORE at Summit Huts and some Finish Lines (though, men's selections tend to be more plentiful) or if there's a specialty flip flop shop in your area (I'm in Arizona ... a lot of sandal stores!).
I Bought these at Target. They are Target's own brand Mossimo supply Co". I paid $18 on sale although they are normally $22. I have been wearing them for two weeks now & they are extremely comfortable. No problems with blisters. The soles are thick & they actually feel like walking around on sneakers. At $18 I wont even be upset if they get ruined in the Bonnaroo mud.
