Has anyone ever tried out Simple Gumshoes? They look similar to Sanuks but supposedly ventilate better which is good because my feet sweat like... damn, I had something there. Anyway, I just wanted to know how they compare. Otherwise, Sanuks here I come!
I'm hoping to pick up a pair of these, I went in the 'Sprints' last year and some in '09 but these should hold up better in the long-term. There's no slipping, no chaffing, no bulky tennis shoe material to get all soaked and nasty in the rain water and mud puddles.

does anyone have any experience with these? so far the best show i have worn to Roo are my crocs, but even then i had a blister on my toe the size of a grape by saturday.
im looking into these, but i wonder if it would be too hazardous to wear around roo, or if they would just be stupid and cause crazy blisters.

I have the Fila Skele-Toes and I love them! Perfect Roo shoes!
I actually posted that near exact shoe here just last night, strangely enough. I wore them the past two years though not as my only shoe. They're great, durable, and if you get the ones with a strap they are in no danger of coming off in mud.
Well worth the money, I'll certainly be picking some up.
I would suggest finding a place that sells them and trying them on. I tried some one last weekend, and they fit great on the foot, but my toes are too long for them.
Page 28 i posted the Vibram Five Finger shoes and they are amazing i wear them when ever i can.. boss requires real shoes ... gurr. but once i am off the clock i wear them all the time.. they are great.. also have a pair of Sanuck side walk surfers that are amazing but make my feet sweat... i will be sporting the Five Fingers at ROO this year...

Chacos, man. I had them last year and couldn't have been happier. The straps are basically seat belt material, so no way you could cut it without a knife. The rest of the sandal is rubber, and pretty comfortable. The most comfortable? No, but they've got Vibram soles on them as well. Very durable, and if they get mud or whatever on them? Hose 'em off, good as new. You just get some goofy looking tan lines. The women's version doesn't have as thick of straps, and they're three mini straps instead. I honestly can't think of better footwear for the festival.

eddiebauer.com has 20% off until tomorrow and they have Keene and Sanuk (and some other Roo worthy shoes). I bought some new Keenes so I can have some time to break them in before June

Picked up Vibram Fivefinger Treksports yesterday. Super comfy, and doesn't feel like anything is even on my feet. For roo I like to wear as little as possible so these are perfect.

I've got some Sanuk's and I love them. Very comfortable and I'm definitely bringing them. But I know they aren't going to be very good mud shoes. They are pretty loose shoes and I think they would just stick to the mud. So I'm planning on bringing something else for the mud. Maybe some ugly crocs. They are at least rubber and fairly cheap.
got sanuks year and a half ago and they are still goin strong. Thanks Carpe
I had some Sanuk flip flops a couple years ago, with the frayed cloth straps. I loved them, but they weren't terribly durable. I don't think they could handle Bonnaroo. The insole (that's what I'm calling it because I don't know what it's actually called) absorbed water like a sponge, and the sole itself wore down pretty quickly so I had no treads, either. I fell on my butt on more than one occasion in the rain.

Anybody have any advice for breaking in Tevas? Specifically I'm wondering if spraying the straps with shoe stretch works, or if it'll ruin them. I have Kayentas with the non-adjustable straps in the front...they were plenty comfortable walking around for short periods up til now, but I took em on a 4 mile walk yesterday and they cut my feet to ribbons
Granted, I have soft winter feet so I probably need to toughen up a bit, but if shoe stretch will help speed the process I'll be happier!!

I just bought my third pair of Sanuks, I love them. Very comfortable. However, I dont think my feet will hold up for the entire weekend without more ankle/heel support. I remember last year I had better ankle/heel support than what Sanuks can provide but still had massively swollen ankles when I took off my shoes at the hotel on the way home Sunday night. I might bring a pair of Sanuks and a pair of regular sneakers for when things get really rowdy.
Sanuk, Sanuk, Sanuk! Is there really any other option? Cost vs value . Hands down this is a winning solution . I went in 09 with Sanuks and ran into a little issues with the mud but all in all i had no blistered or tired out feet / legs by the end of the day. A little water from the fountain helped to keep them clean and their still sandals they hold well with water with little to no rubbing.
But i would strongly recommend bring a backup pair of just regular running shoes for the shows you know you will be the most active , but there really isn't any substitution for Sanuks outside of that!
Also websites like slickdeals.net may have some information on shoe websites or groupon.com deals which may help make the cost of the shoes down to a fraction. Making them even easier and more accessible.

Yes, Sanuks are comfortable. But are you talking about the shoe-like ones or the flip flops? One of my flip flops tore out of the sole (the part between my big and second toe) after only a few months with not really any rugged activity. I did superglue them back in place multiple times, but finally took them back to REI and got me some Chacos. Durable as hell, fairly comfortable (never got any hot spots or blisters), and all you gotta do is hose them off.
You honestly can't ruin them unless you've got a knife or something to that effect.

Sidewalk surfers. Which are the shoe like sandals that have a great durability for something like this. I went jumping around at a Balkan beat box concert on Saturday and had zero issues with pair, plus i went for a 2 mi walk in them the day after ; no issues!
What are you doing in them for them to be ripped? I haven't had an issue?
Plus my point here is the cost factor, being that sanuks have became a lot more popular they appear on a lot of websites. Some websites which offer deals on groupon.com and other deal related websites. So my point here is why spend so much on a pair of sandals which are likely less equal to sanuk's and then take them to roo?

I do not know about shoe stretch, but I do know that Tevas can fit poorly on some people. I am on my second pair right now and wear them so much I get a tan line on my foot that lasts through the winter. My wife got a pair and they are blister central for her. She just got a different style that are more like flip flops and she enjoys them quite a bit more.

Just camping. Some car camping, some backpacking. However, while backpacking it was just something on my feet at camp--not actually hiking.
But yeah, The toe strap actually ripped out of the base of the flip flop. I had to super glue the strap and jam it in the sole a couple times, which did actually work for a month or so, but finally I said eff it and took them back, and ended up with the Chaco's.
Durability is through the roof, and comfort is good enough.
The Sanuk flip flops, while I had them and while they weren't broken, were pretty nice. I've actually been looking at the sidewalk surfers--I figure them to be awesome in the summer.
Also, I'd imagine the sidewalk surfers would use the same type of sole as the flip flops, and mine always got water-logged to hell. Also, my sole looked like racing flats after only a few months, so, if I had them on in the rain, it would not only be soggy as shit, I'd slip on my ass while walking on concrete (legs up in the air and everything) more than a couple times. Not very rain-friendly.

Talking about crocs do you guys just buy the basic ones? They have maryjane styled crocs that aren't quite as ugly but I wonder if they might not be as comfortable as the orginal style. I have Teva sandles (wide) when I was heavier I would wear them and the ring on the outside of the shoe would put blisters on my pinky toe. I thought maybe it was just my fat foot. Now that I'm way lighter and wear normal width shoes they still rub my pinky toe otherwise they would be great for Bonnaroo, I think. I do have a pair of the Teva flipflops that are OH so comfy.
