Ellie, you might want to put those on and walk around the house for a couple of hours to see if they give you a problem in any particular spot. That way, you can make adjustments before you get to the farm.
hmm. ok. I was wondering about that. Kind of tempted to take some insoles and always wear knee high socks with them.
I'm from FL, and by the water every chance I get....and wear moccasins as much as possible (mostly boat shoes....leather with rubber soles)...once they are broken in, they are almost as comfortable as going barefoot, but protect the feet from sharp objects, and no smell (can't wear sneakers very long for that reason), even if worn all summer with no socks.
This is my fourth roo, and I bought sandals, but just can't get comfortable with them....I'm bringing two pair of trusted, broken in, boat mocs, which do not care a damn if they get wet or not.....wink.
I've worn slip on Vans every year, and they have never let me down. Well, except last year because I already had a blister on my toe and by friday it was so huge I couldn't put my shoe on. I went the rest of the fest. barefoot and it really wasn't THAT bad. Definitely bring rain boots or something alike. I have cowboy boots, and they are awesome for walking ride through that mud.
So I bought a pair of Vibram FiveFingers last week (KSOs) and I love them! But how will I feel walking straight through mud in them? I plan on these being my full-time shoes, but I'm not sure how I'd feel stepping through 6-8 inches of mud (like the mud pits after Jay-Z last year). Does anyone have any particular experience with Vibrams they'd like to share?
Edit: I did some google searching and found a Vibrams conversation a few pages back. Has anyone had experience with portaloos, mud, getting your toes smashed by people at shows, or anything else negative?

That's a GREAT idea. Dr. Scholl's makes a molded orthotic insert that's really comfortable.
Re: the Vibrams, I tried on a pair the other day and decided against them. My concern was how much it would hurt if someone stepped on my foot. I suppose you'd have the same concern with flip flops, etc., but those made my feet feel especially vulnerable for some reason.

I bought crocs for last year and regretted it. Not only did the strap break by day 2, but on Saturday I had blisters which seriously sucked. This year - carpe DM Sanuks. Bought them because of this forum and think they'll be fine, but has anyone ever gotten blisters when wearing Sanuks??

Ouch. Any advice on blister prevention? Normally my Sanuk's are awesome and I brag on them all the time when people ask. Bought a 2nd pair even. At my pace, I just can't get slowed down by lame blisters.
Get yourself some moleskin from the drugstore. Wear the shoes around your house for a few days to see where blisters might form and then put the moleskin there. And get some of the special blister band aids to bring with you, just in case!
Also, the forecast is now calling for an increased chance of rain. Bring your boots!
I have had Vibrams five fingers for over a year now. Walking through the mud is actually heavenly because it cools in between your toes! Stubbing your toes is an issue, but its not so bad. I also have KSOs.
I have a little ziploc with moleskin, blister bandaids and a blister block stick (mine is band aid brand and works AWESOME but I think there are several kinds...it's like a little chapstick that you rub on)...that way, you have the stick to use if you feel your shoe rubbing or any irritation - but also have the pads/band aids in case you get one anyway!

Mole skin is your friend (for any hot spots that may arise)! If you're camping in TO at camp Inforoo, I can lend you some in my first aid kit, if you don't have any.
They were prefect all weekend, not a once of pain in my feet or lower back. They lasted being through the Opeth pit, Gogol Bordello Pit and even standing through the set of omar souleyman among many other great acts, Great shoes!
i picked up a pair of sanuks last minute at rei, i didnt know they sold them there and even the workers didnt know that they carried girl sanuks- i got the only pair they had and was lucky they fit
i wore them all weekend except at camp in my flippy floppies and they were amazing. i will be getting another pair for sure
As soon as we got there and the intense heat overcame me I went straight for my Sanuks. Got a blister the first day from them and had to wear a sock to keep the bandaids from coming off. So if you saw a girl with sanuks and one sock, that was me! No shame.
My Vibram KSOs let me down this year. I wore them all day Thursday, and I was regretting it only a few hours in. Walking around camp and most of Centeroo was great, but any largish gravel or rocks quickly became painful. The KSO sole simply isn't thick enough to cover walking on the main roads into Centeroo. The first walk in was okay, but constant wear was a bit too much for me. I finished the weekend in a pair of tennis shoes for Centeroo and slip-on Rocket Dogs for around camp.
i wore socks with my sanucks- they were fine without them but... i just felt better with socks on. it felt kind of gross without them. i dont know if that helped, i know some people say theyve gotten blisters from them
I brought one pair of shoes with me: croc flip flops. They were cushy and kept my feet happy the whole time. I hate having dirty feet, but with these I could just wash my feet off at the fountain and feel clean again. I'll definitely be wearing these again next year.

I too wore my vibrams for half of Thursday. They were great for setting up camp, but had to change into something else after a few hours in Centeroo. At camp and for trips to the showers, my crocs were perfect. My Nike running shoes that have mesh uppers were my go to shoe all weekend for Centeroo. They will need to be washed at the laundromat or sprayed with a hose because I will not put them anywhere near my washing machine. lol
I wore a pair of Reef flip-flops ALL weekend and never had one problem with them. They have a really squishy footbed which was perfect! I brought a pair of tennies and a pair of water shoes and they never once left the car.
Have to say that I LOVED my Sanuks this year. I was wearing flip flops while setting up camp and dropped an EZ-Up on my big toe while getting it out of the bag (ended up having to have the nail removed when I got back home). That night I wore my Crocs thinking the plastic would help protect the toe, but my foot kept sliding up to the front and banging against it, which hurt. A lot.
Friday I put on my Sanuks and it was sooooooo much better. Sure, I was still hobbling around, but at least my shoe wasn't banging against my toe. And since it was a real shoe, I didn't have to use any effort to keep it on my foot. All the effort could be used to walk without using my big toe. Which, by the way, is ridiculously hard.
And even with hobbling and walking more on the side of my foot than the bottom, my feet felt great when I got home. I mean, except for my toe.
I wore my KSO's all day Thursday and Friday without much issue. However when I'm not moving I put most of my weight on my heels, so by Friday night they were feeling it. I switched to a pair of sandals I got from the G.H. Bass outlet store and black socks.
I still firmly believe in my KSO's, but too much stationary standing for my heels to take
