I bought a pair of Vans from a thrift shop right before last years Roo and they were amazing. Already broken in and so comfortable! I wore them the whole time! Vans are always so comfortable for me, but make sure you break them in first! This year I will probably wear my vans and bring a pair of ankle boots for the night time.
I. LOVE. SANUKS. Bought my first pair in 2012, and they've made it through two Roos and Philly Folk Fest so far, and I expect them to make it through this festival season as well. They're durable, comfortable, and you can throw 'em in the wash without ruining them. I have two other pairs that I wear near-daily (weather depending), and I couldn't be happier with them.

Same here, bud. I've got two pairs of sanuks and three or four pairs of cheap croc imitation sanuks and they are my go to rooshoes. They always get SUPER disgusting, but you can just wash them, it's amazing.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
I bought these shoes from Payless for Bonnaroo, just as a cheap Vans/Keds alternative so I won't feel bad about throwing them away if they get too grungy at Roo!
I wore them around campus today and they were comfortable, now whether that will be true while walking around Roo, I'm not sure! But hey they're only like $16 (and if you join Payless's rewards thing you can get 25% off this weekend!)
I wear these every year. They can handle the elements and they are comfortable too. I tried walking around in Sanuks last year for the first time and by the end of Friday I felt like my Achilles were going to snap. Put these guys back on and was good to go the rest of the weekend.
E: the real lesson is to have multiple pairs of shoes. You really don't know how your feet are going to respond to the rigors unless you've done it before. Some people's feet get sweaty more easily, others need more ankle support, etc. Even if you know what you need to be comfortable, you should still have a spare or two just in case something goes wrong.
Just got some Sanuks on the cheap thanks to livesbydryshampoo spotting a deal. I figure between those and some old sneakers (in case of mud) I should be mostly set. Debating the need for rain boots still. I've been lucky with the last two Roo's being relatively dry.
I will say this -- my feet were aching last year something terrible. Early on, too. I hope these Sanuks are the answer!

I wore mine all day Friday last year and they were great. I just couldn't do the whole weekend because my ankles swelled up to a disgusting size and I still don't know why.

Dry? flip flops. Wet? Barefoot.
How I roll at bonnaroo. Last year I wore my flip flops all weekend. It's all going to depend on your tenderfootedness, your ick factor, and what you are used to wearing in your daily life. At home, I'm barefoot, all the time. The yard, the house, the driveway, wherever so wearing flip flops and being barefoot is natural to me.
Now if you have such weak ankles because you wear nothing but high top sneakers, tthen my opinion probably isn't for you.
And no, I did not come home with ringworm on my feet last year.

My problem with shoes is im a 14-14.5 Wide shoe size... I normally rock vans or other skater shoes, simply because they tend to be the only shoes that fit.

Not to freak you out, but I got Sanuks last year for my first roo & I had two pretty gnarly blisters by the end of the weekend, in the same spot on both feet. I don't remember where exactly, but I remember them being there. I wore them every day though, I think maybe switching up my shoes at least one day would've helped alleviate the problem of the stress on that specific spot on my foot. With that being said, I still wore them to All Good after Roo last year and didn't have a problem. Maybe I just didn't break them in enough before Roo? Although, I felt like I wore the hell out of them prior to. But, I still wear my Sanuks all the time now because they're super light and comfy and have stretched out even more since All Good. I will probably be bringing them again this year, but rotating them out with a different shoe on Saturday or something.

That's good advice - thanks! I'll bring a spare pair of shoes to rotate in case the Sanuks don't work as intended.
Yea... I'm really confused by the idea that sanuks are roo-appropriate... finally bought a pair after years of hearing that but they seem like the exact opposite of what I would recommend... We'll see but I would bring at least 2-3 other types of shoes especially if this is your first time.

Any recommendations for those with bigger feet?
I would just bring old shoes that you don't mind getting trashed. I have gone through at least 4 old pairs of shoes that saw it's last days at Bonnaroo. Hell, my first year the shoes I came back in were cement blocks from the mud that year. In 07 (Dustaroo) they were so dirty that even a wash through a machine didn't even make much of a dent.

I'm also a size 14 with wide-ish feet, depending on the brand. Sanuks fit comfortably and generally have some give and flexibility. Also, you might want to check out these sandals. If you're on the brink of being a 15, these might do you great.
I'm not sure how it is in some places in the states, but in Canada it's near impossible to find shoes my size. I generally have to resort to online shopping, though I will say, I discovered Nordstrom Rack about 2 years ago, and it's made shoe shopping incredibly easy. Where most stores would only have 1 or 2 pairs of 14+ shoes, Nordstrom has entire walls of shoes that generally go all the way up to 18. They have a variety of styles, including running, dress, casual, and sandals. You should be able to find something you like.

What Sanuk line would y'all say has the best support? I feel like all the ones I can afford are "comfortable" but still rank low in support according to reviews. I have a pair but I got more of a fashionable kind so their support isn't great but I've worn them at Roo twice and they are doable, but I'd really like to get a new pair. I've looked at Chacos but they're just too expensive for me.

None in my size for the sanuks But I'll definitely keep an eye out for soled ones.
Yes I have a pair of Toms and (in my experience) while they are comfortable for casual wear they aren't very durable/great to walk long distances in. Usually when I wear them during a day when I have to walk a lot my feet end up a bit sore (I live in a city so lots of walking). But the kind I have don't seem to have arch support so maybe I just have the wrong kind. Fuckers were 60 dollars though!

BTW Ross has had both Men's and Women's Sanuks for $20 recently. Sanuks are very close to walking without any shoes HOWEVER you must always break in a pair of any shoes before a festival and bring a few pairs of shoes to rotate out. Anytime your feet get sweaty and then dry and you are wearing the same shoes, you will get blisters from the wetness and constant rubbing.
Cheap, not bad looking, and rated high in comfort. I may have found my match!
Edit: I dunno man, they might not be as great of a match. I don't think they have much arch support. Maybe I should just wear my Sanuks that I already have with a Dr. Scholl's insert. Music festivals are an expensive interest!
So if you look at Bonnaroo fashion on Pinterest, all you see is girls in ankle high boots. Are these girls serious??? Other than rain boots, I haven't even considered boots for Roo. Am I missing some vital info on wearing boots or are they just slaves to fashion?
If you're looking for shoes to function during and after bonnaroo, you may want to check out these Vivo Barefoot shoes. aka supercrocs. The pair of Ultra Pures weighs about 7 ounces (same as cheap flipflops) holds securely to your feet and are cool looking. Met some hikers on the Appalachian Trail this past weekend that carry these for water crossings and wearing about their campsites.

I have no idea what they are thinking. I see plenty of girls in cowboy boots at Roo also..... It's too hot to even have my open Keens on, and I take them off whenever possible at Roo.
I could see wearing boots at night, as long as they were a comfy pair, but yeah... daytime, not so much. I don't even want to imagine how sweaty and gross your feet must get.
Glad to hear y'all agree! I live 30 minutes from Manchester & I can't imagine boots being tolerable. Unless the fields are uncut, then it would make some sense.

...wrong thread to say this in but I gotta add that I think this every time I see rompers in festival fashion posts.
