All I could hope for: Kings of Leon, Damien Rice, and Bob Dylan
I know Dylan's not too great live anymore (when I last saw him, he didn't touch a guitar and his voice was shot to the point that you could barely recognize the songs)....but come on, it's DYLAN.
And I know someone said something about Black Rebel Motorcycle Club earlier. Howl's not a perfect album or anything like that, but BRMC is really solid live. I think they'd be perfect at bonnaroo...

I also saw this show, great great show. I was rockin out toward the front, I get kinda possesed at their shows and can't stop moving..I think my girl was scared...
How about Imogen Heap? I got to see her play last fall(my gf is a hugh fan) and she is amazing, think Keller , but all the music is played on either her Mac and her piano.

Now your talkin.
I've said it before, but if I die and go to heaven, it will be a Bonnaroo late night tent where Lyrics born precededs Aesop Rock with Mr. Lif.
Blackalicious, Pigeon John, Lateef or Lifesavas would be nice too.
When people ask me what I think heaven is like, I tell them "I know, i've been there, it's bonnaroo". This year's line-up is sick, but a few vital elements have been left out:
Jurassic 5 (they rocked last year) Common (perhaps with J-5) Keller Williams (possibly the best set from '05) Flaming Lips String Cheese The White Stripes (it'll never happen, but wishful thinking) Gov't Mule David Byrne (b/c I couldn't go to bonnaroo '04) RJD2 (one of the more underrated acts from last year) Jack Johnson (Banana Pancakes in the rain last year anyone?)
I agree with the majority of peeps on this thread about the need for roo to add more hip hop acts. That's one of the few elements that's really missing in this year's lineup. I'm sure that's gonna change though...

okay, literally i would die if the talking heads reunited for roo...also if squarepusher and brian eno came out of their batcaves where they have been hiding for the past few years, are they dead? seriously...i know they arent, but they might as well be, itd be sick if either showed up. especially if eno did a late night tent set of ambient music or a mid afternoon tent set of ambience. plus jaga jazzist would fire the crowd up at night...sick suggestions man!
Drive-By Truckers would be great. Roxy Music with Brian Eno would also be fantastic (not going to happen though) Manu Chao would be ideal (not going to happen either)

of course they play a UK or european fest, Jack white loves them euro kids...
I can't wait to here some of the tracks. I don't know where to get the 7" as the are like 60 bucks on eBay and hmv.co.uk never had um....all 3 of the bands are great, should be cool to see what they can do as one band.
If the Cure or the Talking Heads ever played bonnaroo I would probably escelate into heaven immediatly following the show. But while we're on the list of people who won't likely play: Richie Havens Ravi Shankar Billy Idol Ben Harper Jane's Addiction (or whatever they could compile from that band) Jamiroquai Badly Drawn Boy
mostly I'm just hoping for a KW Incident show, The Flaming Lips, The Wailers, Dylan (not likely), and some more hip-hop.

I would hope someone said this already, but how bout some modest mouse. I didnt get a chance to catch their set last year, i believe they were playing against hhh05. I like their studio stuff, and think itd be good live. Maybe someone can chime in here who saw them last year.

I've never been to Bonnaroo, but I've seen Modest Mouse twice. I guess they can have their off nights, but they were great when I saw them. The first time they leaned too heavily on Good News... but they played more older songs the second time. Tiny Cities Made of Ashes is fricking ridiculous live
ill add my wishlist to this..i have no idea if some of these are possible i havent researched if they are playing anyhting else..just a wishlist.... ben harper keller williams tim reynolds J5 Outkast oar - i know....i know
You might have missed Modest Mouse for someone like the Allman Brothers last year . . . HHH05 was on the same same stage as MM last year. Nonethless, I was unsure as to whether or not like liked MM coming into last years bonnaroo. As always, I let the live peformance decide. I stayed for 5 songs, and was not impressed. Too much of their stuff is cleaned up in production, and perhaps the acoustics wern't the most condusive to their style, but they came off very flat to me. The second song they played was "Float On", and it struck me that they were just playing it to get it out of the way. Hardcore fans might enjoy it, but I was more impressed visiting random artists I hadn't heard of.
I was right up front for the Modest Mouse show, and if I remember correctly they were having some issues with equipment through the first couple shows. They used some kind of device to alter their voices to get certain effects, but it wasn't working correctly. It seemed like they were pretty frusturated with it.
However, as the show progressed they really got going. It was one of my favorite sets last year. I can still remember all those crazy guys up in those trees dancing.
i thought the modest mouse show was awesome last year, i own some of there albums and consider myself a fan but not too hardcore but it was definintly one of my favorite shows of the festival
I went to the Word last year instead of MM. I love Robert Randolph and John Medeski, also the Word hardly ever plays any gigs together so I couldn't miss it. Not real familiar with MM but I heard from a lot of there fans that they don't sound that great live. Something about the singers voice isn't replicated well live or something. Don't really take my word for it though cuz I'm not real into them and it was just what other people told me.

i know this ones out there, but whatever, they are phenomenal live and their music is not what everyone thinks it is, they would be this years mars volta......Coheed & Cambria.......
Post by melikecheese on Feb 21, 2006 22:04:52 GMT -5
someone once told me there (coheed & camwhoeva) music wasn't what I think it is but I tried the lastest album and your right it wasn't what I thoguht it was...but it didn't make the music any better...it was terrible. But hey I'm only one person.

After watching some shows on fabchannel for a bit iv come to the conclusion that brmc definatly needs to be added. Some other additions id like are death from above 1979 and bloc party, i dont know about bloc party though, they may not be very roolike, but is there really such thing?

BRMC - definitely. But Bloc Party can stay at home as far as im concerned...and they can take Death Cab with them. DFA79 is awesome but i see them as a little out of place at roo.

add Kid Koala and you have Deltron 3030. That album is great, I would love to see that at the roo, maybe add some story boards that follow the story behind them. That would be cool.
