I caught spoon a couple months ago for a whopping $5 and it was a great show. Some people I know didn't like it but they really only haerd the new album... I thought it was great but maybe not something I would want to see at bonnaroo.

OK i gotta bring this one up again. What about 311?
They would make a great afternoon show. I lot of people think rap metal but these guys can break down some groovy laid back rythems. Sure they have some heavier "rap metal" sounding songs but think about a set of all the groovy tracks. I have like 3 mix cd's of all the laid back stuff that I always listen to while enjoying any 'goodies'. Plus think about them playing "who's got the herb?" at Bonnaroo, WOW! Something tells me it would get real smoky in that tent. This is one band that I have always felt would fit in at this fest.

that makes sense.....having never been to Bonnaroo, I was just being greedy and naming a band I wanted to see since I don't know exactly what kind of band would be a good fit.
I will say that I think the FLAMING LIPS WOULD BE!!
Wouldn't mind Jimmy Tamborello coming in and doing a Postal Service set with Gibbard. His many side projects aren't bad either. Would add a nice chill vibe opposite a more energetic act.

I think they were my first suggestion in this thread. ;D Im not sure if theyr still in the studio right now, but i know they were at the middle to end of 2005, because they released that free single. I still dont think they have a release date on that. I also wouldnt mind a fiery furnaces set, but i dont know if they could pull it off live.
^^^Can't say I see them fitting in at roo. They're confirmed at Coachella which is perfect for their style. Wouldn't mind seeing them again though...always thought they'd play better to big crowds than to club crowds.

If you mean the fiery furnaces i see where your comming from, but i think tvotr would fit in excellently.
Wow, I think the FFs would fit in perfect at Roo. Much more than many of the bands suggested in this thread. Classic rock guitar riffs, wild keyboards, two vocalists, lyrics that'll spin you around, experimental electronics on occasion, and enough wild shifts in their music to keep the Roosters on their toes! Yet another band I haven't gotten around to ever seeing live, but all their reviews tend to suggest it's a beautifully chaotic trainwreck. Bitter Tea just leaked yesterday for those who are interested. I haven't gotten a chance to listen yet. Rehearsing My Choir didn't seem to be as bad as everyone made it out to be after the couple of listens I gave it. Although, for what it's worth, I really have no desire to go back and listen again. The early reactions make it sounds like Tea is more along the linea of Blueberry Boat or a Choir without the crazy granny babble. We'll see though...

I really like their studio stuff, but il need some endorsments for their live show before i really want them to come. They just seem like a band to me that might not be able to transcend their material into a good show, i dont know why.

Actually i just listened to gallowsbird bark and i think that this stuff would definatly be good, its blueberry boat that worrys me live. If they can do it well though i think itd be an awesome show. Looking back now that post was more to defend the honor of tvotr, i retract that statement, i think theyd both fit the roo.

saw them in at the empty bottle in chicago just after blueberry boat was released.... i must say the show was really great, but also very different than any i have ever been too. Their set was basically one giant medley...they hardly stopped until the encore. They would play sections of songs from blueberry and then transition right into another and then come back etc... it was very cool, but i could see how people might not like it.
Anyway, i think they would fit. I'd love to see TV on the Radio and Built to Spill added. I just want to see that 20 minute version of Cortez!

I still think both of them have a fair chance of being one of those random additions they sort of slide in with a marquee performer closer towards the fest date. Part of me almost wants to see the lineup end RIGHT NOW, to avoid anymore conflicts -- yes I realize there could be worse problems than too much great music -- but I don't want my heart broken!
I've drifted away from Dispatch since they broke-up, but I was at their last show and it was one of my favorite concerts. It was free, in the middle of Boston at the Hatch Shell ampitheater. An estimated 110,000 people showed up, it was the most crowded i've ever been at a concert, they had to close nearby streets. They'd be a fun addition, but unlikely, most of those guys are with other bands now. I agree on Neil Young, that'd be sweet, in addition to Van Morrison, the Long Beach Dub All-Stars, the Low Life, and a suprise Michael Jackson appearence.

Blueberry Boat is such an incredible album. Fiery Furnaces are a bit "off the beaten path" musically, which I think would make them an interesting choice for Bonnaroo. I'd love to see them, but a word for the wise to those who have never heard their stuff --- Brace yourselves. It's not exactly what you'd call "accessible."
