Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So I'm really late on this topic (GEEZ this thread has grown quickly!!!) but I am really excited about Fountains of Wayne!!
I also must add I absolutely detested having had Stacey's Mom shoved down my throat for that whole year. (I think Fountains of Wayne got a bad rap from that song, similar to what Nada Surf got after that one stupid song "Popular" was played constantly on MTV)
I grew up in NJ and since they are from Jersey I have been loving them since high school! They were local radio stars at the time. I saw them back in 96 or 97 and they were amazing live. Like others have said they are really talented song writers, and they are a really "fun" band, if that's a good description...
If you want to check them out pre-roo I HIGHLY suggest checking out their self titled (1996) or "Utopia Parkway" (1999) albums over the newer ones, they are my favorites.
Holy crap if I hear "Go, Hippie" at Bonnaroo I might poop myself! So excited!!!
EDIT: Sorry if this was mentioned already bud I didn't see it - Fun Fact - Fountains of Wayne sings the theme song for Crank Yankers!

I remember how cool Stacy's Mom was in 8th grade. Yeah the song is a wind up but I still like it. It's nice that every once and a while a song can come along and be stupid and silly. It was catchy too, just overplayed.
Anyways, I've only heard Stacy's Mom, 1984, (definite no) and some song about high school on Regis and Kelly (don't ask) the other day, which also didn't do it for me. They were also wearing cheerleader outfits, which I didn't like. However, when they interviewed the main guy he was really likeable and modest. Their music has done nothing for me so I can't really see myself getting anything of theirs, but good for you fans, and I appreciate your opening up some room somewhere else at the festival for me to rock out.

Hey isaac, there are so many confounding things in your post, are you sure you're thinking of the right group? 8th grade? The song came out in '03, are you really that young? Also I'm not familiar with any FoW song titled or about "1984", and as far as I know they've never donned cheerleader outfits... although Sufjan Stevens has. Just curious about all this.
I'm 17. So yeah, it was 8th or 9th grade. I got twisted on the title, it's not 1984, it's 1985, there's an arcade close to my house called 1984. I apparently also got twisted on who was who, apparently "Bowling for Soup" did 1985. I thought it was the same band all along. Sorry! I may have also gotten that appearance on Regis and Kelly confused with Bowling for Soup. Yeesh! I did make a lot of mistakes.

Ha, I was gonna guess 17. Well, since you're back to square one on FoW, please do yourself a favor and check out one of their albums (I still recommend "Welcome Interstate Managers"). I hope it does it for you.
Anyone ever listen to the Dub Side of the Moon by the Easy-Star Allstars.
I'd totally recommend that, along with Radiodred.
johnny greenwood is getting ready to release a reggae compilation collaberated w/ trojan records. he's doing songs from their library, and is working w/ other musicians and vocalists.
i can't wait! i know johnny has always been a huge fan of reggae, so you just know he's gonna do it right. ;D ;D ;D

Good call. Here's Pitchfork with the release date...as previously reported, Jonny Greenwood will deliver his reggae compilation Jonny Greenwood Is the Controller, on March 6.
It'd be great if Arcade Fire and Interpol hit Bonnaroo/festival circuit after Coachella.
I'm really unimpressed by Coachella's headliners though. I can see how people would be excited, just not my type of thing. What year in the past did Bjork play Coachella?

All this getting my hopes up when I know I'm not supposed to...all this anticipation...I think I feel a massive stroke coming on. And I mean that in the best way possible.
i wish they'd at least give us an ETA on the initial announcement!!! or maybe the headliner rumors are half way true & they're just making sure the anticipation is worth it...
Well to correct your correction, the blog who they point to didn't say there was no truth, it was Big Hassle- the PR/publicity arm that last year said there was no truth to the Radiohead rumor (and whose own website doesn't have the latest press release posted- which makes me wonder if they're handling Roo's press anymore).
Yes, it is all still hearsay, but that RS Blog isn't such a ragtag group. And I have heard confirmation of Pearl Jam's involvement from a completely separate group. The Police and Dylan are the bigger "ifs" and I'd say today's Coachella announcement being sans Police just put the Roo possibility very high and RS knows it.
Big Hassle said it contained NO truth, even though 1/4 of the bands are already confirmed.

I'm assuming everyone's seen Rolling Stone's leak of Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam & The Police.
I'll be over here exploding if you need me.
Unfortunately, there's no validity behind it.
It's not Rolling Stone, it's a Rolling Stone music blog, and they were just repeating another blog that has since said "there is NO truth to this."

We know it's by the end of Jan (Superfly said so in an interview, plus it's pretty traditional in recent years). I'd say middle of this week or the next.

Yeh, my guess has been either this or next Wednesday (24th or the 31st).
Point taken. I'm not saying it's absolutely not true, I'm just trying to lend a little balance to this and let everyone know we really don't have any reason to believe this.
Let me make one more point for a sec. Go to this website really quick, I'll wait... www.manchestertimes.com/news/index.asp ok, are you back? So you probably noticed that this was a small newspaper whose biggest news story is a Coffee County charity ball. If they really had an inside scoop on the Bonnaroo artists, don't you think this would be somewhere on their website?
The first wikipedia post, awhile back, had a number of bands that were out there but it was still an educated guess. However, it quickly was taken off due to lack of a source. The same person (same IP) came back a month later and posted again, this time adding "Manchester Times" as a bogus source, presumably to get around the issue that got it taken down the first time. This second list has been re-posted in blogs everywhere, and everytime some blog write rewrites it, the rumor gains credibility?
I personally choose to remain very skeptical of a sourceless wikipedia posting, regardless of who rewrites it on their own blog. Obviously, everyone is free to draw their own conclusions. I just would hate to see everyone get their hopes up and then be 'disappointed' with any lineup that doesn't include Police.
If Police end up on the list, RooSkew, then you got me. I'll owe you a beer.

Nobody owes me anything ifit happens or not-- and I'm not saying it is true-- I was just trying to throw some more reality into the mix (the Big Hassle thing).
As for the Manchester Times-- look, I've worked with big papers and small papers and I know full well they could know a TON but because they are small they know better than to publish it because they also know what side they're bread is buttered on- and because it won't help them sell copies of their paper in the long run. That doesn't add validity to any rumor, it just doesn't discount the involvement or knowledge of the Times.
Anyway, hey I'm as hopeful as anyone-- but the "big three" headliner rumors are not being generated from the same Wiki fart. The Police and Pearl Jam are both being rumored from other corners. Bob Dylan, as far as I have heard, has been the only one featured in the Wiki rumor. And more to the point- we don't know that the Wiki post wasn't made by someone who got the same email that Stereogum.co.uk referred to and decided to post it. Doesn't make it any more true, or less true. Just is what it is.
