holy shit john butler makes me happy. im so excited hes back at roo. and that hes back in the states. cant wait to see him several times!!!! this made my day!
Wow this makes me so pumped... JBT was one of the top shows in '05, I can't wait to see them again... and I'm also intrigued to see what the Cold War Kids are like in concert. That's a good signing for Bonnaroo, they're probably going to be 2x as big by the time June rolls around...

I like these first two announcments, i missed JBT in 05, and wouldnt mind catching one of his shows. I'd never heard of Cold War Kids, but checking them out i think they could be a pretty good show. Maybe the lineup is comming earlier this year, what time was nickel creek and i forget who else confirmed last year?
Freaking cool, thanks for the find. I haven't listened to Cold War Kids before, but JBT is good so that's a cool start in my book.
This really pumps me up to finally know someone who for sure is gonna be at 'Roo.
edit: So listening to Cold War Kids I enjoy the sound, it's a sort of soothing easy style. The lead singer's voice reminds me so much of someone but I can't put my finger on just who.
with all the speculation and arguing over who is gonna be there i'm surprised this thread doesn't have more replys. i'm def pumped after hearing this, never heard JBT but i'm grabbing some of their stuff now, definitely like the cold war kids. on a completely seperate note... has anyone ever considered making a bonnaroo ftp? i def have tons of albums i could contribute, it'd be cool to throw stuff on there to make it easy for people to check out the bands that are gonna be at 'roo that they haven't heard - just an idea.
Sweet idea. That would be a great place to really get an idea on how the bands sound, usually the Bonnaroo site only gives a single song, and a lot of festivals only do 30 second samples. A site with several tracks from a lot of the artists would be great. It'd be hard to do economically and legally though, wouldn't it?
economically, no - someone with a nice connection could setup an ftp with serv-u and people could pm that person to get a login and pw. i'd do it, but i'm behind a firewall and on a DSL connection, so the web is painfully slow as is. legally it wouldn't be a big deal, a small personal ftp server hosting mp3s is really not much of a risk at all IMO. if anyone is willing to do it and needs help setting up PM me or something, i'd be more than glad to help and give them the required software.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
I'm pretty pumped about the Cold War Kids! I bet they are a thursday night act.
I could see them on Friday-Sunday - they've been getting quite a bit of buzz in the past year. I think by the time the organizers get around to making the schedule, they'll be even bigger - so I could see them getting a tent spot early in the day.
Last year he basically did all the jokes from his CDs, no new material, that was dissapointing, though it was still cool to see him live. Hopefully this time around he'll do some new stuff.

"I’ll definitely be coming back in February to LA. We’ll be playing SXSW, and maybe Coachella, hopefully Bonoroo, and lots of other gigs next year. We’ll be touring for about 8 weeks next year. We’ll be back."
The hopefully makes me think that it's not quite confirmed, but sounds damn likely nonetheless.

Kings of Leon have been asked to play apparently on the What Stage:
I spoke with Nathan Followill and inquired as to whether or not the band would be making a triumphant return to Bonnaroo this year. He mentioned that they had been asked to possibly headline the festival but they are not yet sure if they will be available that weekend in June. (The festival takes place June 14-17, 2007.) The band first appeared on Which Stage in 2004 in front of more than 20,000 adoring fans and a headlining spot on What Stage can only promise an even larger audience.
Hmm. Good find, even though I'm not a fan. Saw them at ACL and was not impressed at all. Seriously, headlining? I guess they could play the main stage but I'm not understanding the headlining word.

My guess is that the report is using the term wrong. I don't think Kings of Leon are actually 'headlining' so much as playing on the biggest stage.

I think that's simply a mistake by the blogger -- I think the author of the that blog considers anyone playing the What Stage to be a headliner. Unless Superfly really believes that the Kings of Leon are going to absolutely blow up once their new album comes out. I mean, they have had some modern radio success and are pretty huge over seas, but I don't think they could really headline. So I'm gonna go with the "the author of the blog considers anyone playing the What Stage to be a headliner" theory.
