Regarding Bela Fleck, he's booked solid from the June 14-18 with a major exception: between a gig in PA on the 15th and a gig in IN the 17th there is nothing scheduled for the 16th. And there's a certain festival that's located between the two states.
Where's it say that? On his website it says he's completely open from early April to late June...

That list would be pefect. Do you think Dylan would get Sunday or Friday?
I do not see how Dylan can headline. Like everyone has said he has been doing the same show for years now and in 04 he only got a pre-headlining spot for an hour and 1/2 i believe on friday. It would have to be something special with other guests for it to be a headline spot, but even then i don't see it. He is not going to draw a huge crowd in that spot.

Bob Dylan has not been doing the same show for years. I agree that he might not be able to headline anything other than Sunday night, even with guests, but its no big secret that Dylan changes his setlist every night. His most recent tour has showed that he is more than capable of going over two hours. And, if the early rumors of Beck headlining a night last year was any indication, this does not mean Dylan is definitly a headliner anyway.
Nickel Creek have only said they're going on hiatus, and that is supposed to start this year. One more big fest isnt impossible.
This possible/supposed leak shouldnt be discredited because of Dylan & Nickel Creek. I know we shouldnt get our hopes up but mine already are. Even if some of this proves false I have very little doubt that the real lineup will be the awesome.

Where was this supposed leak posted at? Can't find it anywhere. I agree the list is good, but we will have to wait and see. I would rather not have Dylan headline. Saw him last year, and was a little disappointed. PJ and the Police would be worth the admission alone.
For those of you talking about Nickel Creek being on hiatus, that doesn't happen until the end of 2007. So many people read it wrong when they posted the message on their site, so that's where that confusion is. I talked to Sara after the last show I saw, and she said they would continue to tour heavily until the end of this year, on a tour they were hoping to call The Victory Lap, and then they were done.

You must be looking at the wrong website. He's on tour with Chick Corea throughout the month of June. Thus a chink in the armor of Mr. Leaker has been found unless the Flecktones meet Bela at Bonnaroo for a one off gig.
Thanks ...... I guess I read it like they ( Nickel Creek ) were done for a while....
I think I need to go on hiatus....
I know I will be grilled for this.....but.. We went to the benefit concert "From the Big Apple to The Big Easy" at Radio Music Hall. This was the concert to benefit New Orleans.
Tom Waits performed and it was the most horrible performance next to ZZ Top that I have ever seen.

Am I the only one that thinks this?
Possibly. I've only heard amazing things about his live shows. And for that matter, ZZ Top had a rather stellar live reputation from what I gather. Maybe you hit off nights?

The only experience I have with Waits live is a copy of "Austin City Limits" from the late 70's and a boot from '99. IMO, both are great. bug, are you a fan of his otherwise?

I suppose this doesn't really prove anything, but FYI there were very many names in common between this supposed leak and the supposed leak from wikipedia. 19 total, they are: Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket, Modest Mouse, The Decemberists, The Shins, The Roots, John Butler Trio, M. Ward, Band of Horses, The Hold Steady, TV on the Radio, Lily Allen, Grizzly Bear, Cold War Kids, Man Man, The Slip, and Girl Talk.
edit: hey danbird, I saw him on that same tour, 11/8 here in Baltimore. I wasn't a big fan (an ex had an extra ticket and took me along), but was still surprised at the breadth of his set. Yeah, at least 2 hours. Plus, he proved that he can work well with guest musicians (Lesh).
I don't know... I'm starting to get this hunch too... what if? I mean for the bands that have confirmed well... this (Lily Allen, if you count her for being a definite) makes 4 out of that 19, which still doesn't sound like too much.. but seeing as how those 4 bands make up 50% of the confirmed well... that's starting to get me excited.
I have tried to listen to him...but honestly I can't understand the words..
Even at the concert in NYC, when we saw him a bunch of us were looking at each other saying WTF..when he performed. It sounded like he had ten marbles in his mouth while trying to sing.
Maybe he was just trashed while trying to perform?
The thing about Waits is that its real gritty, almost in a depressing way. Like a true blues man. Lots of people confuse it with a lack of talent but that couldnt be further from the truth.
I understand he has talent, every performer there has talant..
I will have to buy some of his stuff and listen to it over and over..
Another note... Last Friday night when I got home I listened to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon....For being made in 1973 they were so ahead of the times...If that CD came out today it would be a hit..I guess thats where "timeless classics" phrase comes from.

Good idea. I would suggest "Closing Time". Came out in '73 and his voice sounds the best on this album... Not to mention the songwriting, which is top shelf on any of his records.
Darkside changed my life...... I am the music fan I am today because of the timeless appeal of that album...... as for MC5, greatest band to ever come from the motor city?????

I personally find Waits' best album to be Rain Dogs, it's an absolute masterpiece. One of the great things about Tom Waits though is the way he had constantly re-invented himself over the course of his career. Closing Time sounds unbelievably far away from Rain Dogs, which sounds very little like Real Gone, and so on. He's one of the greatest living songwriters on this planet, in my opinion. Check out the songs "Martha", "Ruby's Arms", "Tom Trauberts Blues", "Hang Down Your Head" for some true heartbreakers. "Chocolate Jesus", "Hoist That Rag", "Singapore" for some inventive quirky stuff. "Johnsburg, IL" is one of the greatest love songs ever written. "The Piano Has Been Drinking" is Waits perhaps at his greatest, and drunkest. Check it all out though, he's amazing.

Rain Dogs IS great. "Small Change" and "Nighthawks at the Diner" also come to mind. I've just started listening to "Orphans...." and it's phenomenal! Always gritty and true....

Yes, I might say that "Rain Dogs" is my favorite album. It's just way beyond anything.
I play with a couple guys, and I keep thinking that "Step Right Up" from 'Small Change' would make a great cover. Although it'll be hell to memorize...
