id say its pretty long odds. but it could make a dylan headline slot seem reasonable. that would be a huge show. but im not even gonna hope. just sees too unlikely

The Band's pretty much dead. Given Dylan's constant movement forward, Robertson's lack of presence in any form in the group since 83 and the break up of the reunited group, I seriously doubt any anniversary celebration is going to happen. Listen to Before the Flood if you want Dylan and the Band. Personally, I prefer the Rolling Thunder Revue Dylan most...

I might agree with this.
The ramshackle, perpetually on the edge of chaos sound was kind of thrilling, eh? The 1975 Bootleg release is one of my favorite summertime albums of the past few years. MMJ's cover of "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You" in the style of the Revue sort of rekindled my love affair with that wonderful double disc.

I've been thinking about it, and i dont think superfly would have bob dylan headline unless he had something up his sleeve. So if dylan does indeed headline, i think he'll be doing something a little special to make it headline worthy.
^^^That bootleg was kind of revelation to me when I heard it. I've become more and more of a Dylan nut, but nothing sounds like that. It reminds me of live translation of what he did in the studio for Highway 61 or Blonde on Blonde...
Bob Dylan has also had a big year in music. I think his album went to number one, he's been on the cover of Rolling Stone, been named the artist of the year in RS (normally this wouldn't be much, but it was a reader's choice thing, which proves that people are still very into him.) It would be great to see him to do a miniature kind of "Last Waltz." Modern Times is a very good album and in my opinion leaves lots of room for improvisation or collaborations.

If Tom Waits and Bob Dylan decide to play together, like the good ole' days, however either of them have yet to even be playing.
I still can't believe there is a discussion on whether or not Bob Dylan can headline. Aren't we talking about Bob Dylan? "The" Bob Dylan? The only argument I have seen is that his set is too short. He has released 31 studio albums. I am pretty sure he can throw together a longer set.
Just for the record, I am not that psyched to see him, just having trouble understanding the reasoning.

Alot of it has to do with the fact that he did not headline last time he played bonnaroo.
i hear ya. it makes sense on paper. but for me it stems from seeing him open for a headliner at roo and it just bored me. not that it wasnt good. but it wasnt great. wasnt for me. but im not a huge fan to begin with. hes a legend and i own some albums. but dont listen to him much anymore. id rather see winwood again. i know dozens of people who have seen dylan. and only 1 has come away digging the show. and jack white jamed with him so that probably had a little to do with that. my mom saw him back in the day and she said the same thing i always hear. not bad., but disapointing. but fi it involves the band then im certainly down. that would make my year. but im afraid there is almost no chance of that.

Some of Dylan's sets last year clocked in at around 2 hours which is about as long as the Petty setlist last year. So it's not totally that far off base. However, it's hard for me to see any of the prospective headliners fit the Sunday headlining slot.
Enough Dylan cant headline talk. THe guy has 178 albums. Are you kidding me He can play poetic masterpieces through Wednesday. Secondly who headlined Sunday last year. Phil and Friends that isnt even a band. I realize that many are not sophisticated enough to like DYlan that is cool, but dont say he cant or doesnt deserve to headline. The guy forever altered rock and roll.
well true. but phil did the same thing. for my tastes ill take 3 hours of phil and scofield rockin dead tunes thats an entertaining show i can dance my ass off to. dylan just dosent do it for me. for me hes a legendary song writer that i love. (i couldnt have been happier to hear dave and phil/scofield play all along the watchtower) and a legendary musician/singer that i like but cant get too excited about live. to each thier own.
bring back phil!!!

atlfan, your possibility list was pretty good....wow coldplay would be so awesome...their concerts are amazing. have they ever played a festival before though? i mean they are a huge band...maybe even bigger than radiohead nowadays. but anything's possible
you must be joking, right?? did you see radiohead last year??????? ??? ??

On a national scale i'd definatly say coldplay is bigger then radiohead. At bonnaroo radiohead is probably bigger though.

maybe - just maybe - on a national scale, but definitely not on an international scale. perhaps i'm being biased, since i do love radiohead and loathe coldplay. but still, when i look down the line ten years from now, i don't think we'll find coldplay that relevent.
i dont know man. radiohead is bigger then cold play in the festival scene for sure. imo. this is the first ive heard of coldplay being on a roo headline level. or a radiohead level. it surprising to me to hear it.
i'm a radiohead and coldplay fan..but i'm saying as for on a national level, coldplay is probably bigger...they appeal to everyone. but no doubt everyone here is going to like radiohead more.
colplay's three albums combined have sold over 30 million copies radiohead's six albums only 17 million.
so commercially..coldplay has more success. that DOES NOT make them better and i am NOT saying that so please don't misconstrue what i'm saying!! just stating the obvious!
festival wise, YES radiohead is probably bigger and for some reason i don't see coldplay doing a festival even though they have in the past. i think they would have more success doing their own tours because they are so popular.
but i love them both! and i happen to own more radiohead albums than coldplay (3 vs 1)

for what its worth. britney spears has sold 31 million. i dont think that albums sold has relevance to headlining roo. luckily its another one of those situations that we will never have to worry about.
i definitely agree with you dudewheresmyroo! i mean backstreet boys have sold a bajillion albums. and god if they ever headlined..well ugh don't even talk about it.
It's looking more and more like Pearl Jam ain't happening. Rumors of a gig on June 13th in Poland abound on the PJ boards and seem to be gaining confirmations from different 'mysterious' sources.
