There were a few bands playing Thursday night in '03 and '04. I wasn't there in '03, but I did catch most of Peelander-Z in '04, which was an awesome thing to behold. Japanese Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers playing super hard noise metal with audience participation... now that I think about it, if you were that wasted it's probably good you weren't there.
Peelander Z was the SH*T. I was little *out there* but those mother f*ckers brought me WAY out there. The dude with the WINGS was freakin' me out, and they kept just repeating the same thing over and over and over and building on these intense speed metal chords. It was absolutely crazy. Definitely one of the more memorable sets of 04.
As for thursday night in 03, they had hackensaw boys, I believe, and maybe spearhead?? I'm not sure. But the memorable set of that night was The Machine (pink floyd cover band) who absolutely brought it (including a 20 minute soundcheck with the lights in the tent on), despite having the generator go down on them TWICE during their set.
"The initial artist announcement for this summer's Bonnaroo Music Festival will be on Wednesday, February 14th. This announcement will include an initial lineup of artists, as well as ticket on-sale information for the festival being held June 14-17, 2007."
I saw darkstar on friday night in milwaukee and it was amazing! We went to the safe house after that and then went to the casino. It was one hell of a night!
okay so i don't really follow that many bands or anything (nor do i follow festival line-ups) but right now i have the song "don't fear the reaper" stuck in my head...and then i was just wondering if blue oyster cult would ever perform at bonnaroo..or have they? i went to their website and they have some tour dates.
According to a chick on another board who's obsessed with Animal Collective and is active on a board where the band posts, they've already said they won't be at Bonnaroo this year. Once again, this is hardly a credible source, but she has been spot on with AC news in the past.
I saw Blue Oyster Cult at Summerfest in Milwaukee and they put on a great show actually. I don't think they would really fit in with the bonnaroo scene but I guess you never know.

i don't know... it makes me even all the more curious now. i was probably most confident about PJ being there then any other rumoured headliner. this is kind of exciting (though crappy that I won't get to see pearl jam).

I saw BOC and Blink 182 at parkfest in 2000 at SUNY Albany.... Blink was absolutely horrible..but BOC was actually fun...reaper and Godzilla were sweet...
I could see BOC in a small tent at 'ro.. why not...

yeah definitely disproves the "leak". God only knows now what we are going to get but it does add a little excitement to the lineup announcement. Coachella's lineup is awesome so i am really hoping Bonnaroo is as good or better. Doesn't really matter i am going regardless I already have tickets. Just want to feel like a genius for getting those early bird tickets.
Hey, they're open on the 17th, so they can still close Bonnaroo, right? Right?
Oh hell, who am I kidding, I'm still going no matter what. I just simply can't believe my favorite band isn't playing there this year when it looked like a sure thing to me.
Yeah, they're out. BUT it does make me even more curious...
It also seriously discredits other rumor sources. Contrary to popular belief, the Pearl Jam rumor did not begin with that Wiki lineup blob that showed up twice. It's been making the rounds from the actual Pearl Jam fan camp for a bit (and they are not Roo obsessed- it was something they seriously heard). In fact, as recently as last week there were supposedly a serious confirmation on the 10club fanclub board.
So hey, we're not the only ones pissing in the wind!

so who is playing bonnaroo, seriously, i can't take it any longer, this is killing me, are there any honest and truthful people out there that really have inside information, and is there an easy way to search where or if the lineup is available secretly on the internet, i just have like 100 band names floating around in my head and i have a headache
What's goin on guys. Been reading posts for a while, just decided to join up. Not that anyone on this board probably gives a sh*t, but I happen to be related to a member of the Nashville rock group Bang Bang Bang. Some of you in the Knoxville area have probably heard of them too. Anywhoo, they have been booked to play the Local Artists tent. BIG NEWS!!!, I know. But he is in close touch with the William Morris booking agency who deals with Superfly and AC annually for Bonnaroo. Should any further info be brought my way, I will update the thread accordingly. Until then, we will all remain in awe of the excitement.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
