Hmm. Good find, even though I'm not a fan. Saw them at ACL and was not impressed at all. Seriously, headlining? I guess they could play the main stage but I'm not understanding the headlining word.
I agree. A seriously weak live act...sort of like a down home version of the Strokes without the effortless cool. I mean, they might be a great act one day once they find their groove, but right now, they're just another band writing immature songs about groupie sex and being rock stars. Boooring...
Hmmm I hope more of the lineup is released soon. I like JBT, but am not big fans of Kings of Leon and I'mnot familiar with the others announced so far. I've heard of the CWK, I'll have to check them out
In the live setting they can be a little hit or miss, but I can see them filling an early day main stage slot. With a new album on the way, they really need to find the time for all the festivals they can get.
ya i sat through kol with a friend. wasnt for me. just no energy. and the main problem was i couldnt take the vocals. everyone tells me the vocals are an aquired taste. but i just cant take it. but i think they are a good fit at roo. i know my friends will be excited if they are back.
but id come for john butler alone. he puts on one of the best shows you could ever wanna see. im wondering if he might move up to the second stage. but i dont know if his popularity has grown enough. it was packed at the tent.

I downloaded the cwk album as well. If you like the walkmen, then you'll like cwk. The vocals are similar, but cwk have a cleaner sound, which i prefer. Good addition definatly, i'll be checkin them out.
I think that they've pulled the confirmation from the JBT site. Either that or I'm missing it. They still have the confirmation info from Bonnaroo '05 on there, though. Maybe that was what people saw?

Probably not. See this happened last year too. Bonnaroo does not want this information out sometimes. Takes away from the suprise I guess. Anyway, they probably removed it because Bonnaroo asked them too. I would put everything I own on JBT being at Bonnaroo this year.
its interesting to see you all commenting on the line-up...but who's headlining...and where'd you get the list of confirmations?
JBT is awesome though...and they deserve an invitation to 'roo....oh and abby washburn is managed by AC Entertainment apparently so more than likely she'll be there.
^^They get the confirmations from various sources, most often the websites run by the acts themselves. For a totally non-Bonnaroo related example, last year people found out Iron & Wine was performing at ACL 3 months before they announced the lineup because he leaked it on his website. These are blink and you'll miss kind of things because often the guys running the festivals will tell the acts to take it down from their website.

Yeah, that's probably true. Cold War Kids' info is still posted but it's probably a lot tougher to get a third party to edit an interview for Bonnaroo's benefit : )
New to the board long time reader never have posted but i was looking on wikipedia this morning which i know isn't exactly a reliable source but they had an initial line up leak. Late Sunday night (1/6/07), an initial lineup announcement apparently leaked onto the internet. The lineup included Bob Dylan, Trey Anastasio, Tom Waits, Gov't Mule, Norah Jones, Pearl Jam, Ben Harper, My Morning Jacket, Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Yo La Tengo, The Decemberists, The Shins, The Roots, John Butler Trio, M. Ward, Band of Horses, Tea Leaf Green, the Hold Steady, TV on the Radio, Lily Allen, Cut Chemist, Grizzly Bear, Cold War Kids, Man Man, The Slip, Girl Talk, and Isis (band). More artist announcments are expected in the coming weeks.
take it for what it is worth. It is off the site now but seems like a logical line up.
I buy it. That is a very Bonnaroo-esque lineup. Some newbies, some oldbies. Some of the classic stuff, some of the newer stuff? It screams BONNAROO 2007.

Definitely do not believe it. Looks like a great lineup, and perhaps some of it really is true, and perhaps there really was a leak. Yet I'm looking at the Wiki page at 10:57 EST on 1/8/07 and that lineup has already been altered, with the additions of Man Man and Band of Horses. So even if there originally was some truth in that info, it's been muddled now.

yeah i don't know if that quite qualifies as confirmed but it did say it was a line up leak so thought it was worth posting. The only one that seems crazy is Tom Waits but i bet that is someone no other festival has. I didn't post the whole line up intially but i corrected that.

Ehhh...this is tough to believe. I'd love to believe it, I mean, this lineup is fricken awesome -- but it seems a little light on the jambands to be completely true. To me it looks like some indie kid posted their dream lineup for 'Roo and threw in a couple likely jamband candidates to make it look legit. However, if Tom Waits is at Bonnaroo, 'Roo will officially re-win my heart. Think about it: Waits and Dylan at the same festival, the two greatest living songwriters on the planet (arguably) at the same fest. Oh man!

If this is the lineup I will be one happy camper (pun intended ;D) but I agree with everyone else that it seems a bit sketchy due to the lack of many jam bands.

It seems to me, Bonnaroo has tried to stray away from jambands to differentiate themselves from festivals like 10K lakes and Langerado and such who have used the Bonnaroo formula for success. The whole "the lineup is too good to be true," thing is why I do believe this. WE have to remember, this is BONNAROO, who consistently puts out STELLAR lineups.
We'll see in a week or two, I guess. If this were the lineup, I'd be one happy bonnaroovian.

I am definitely not taking it as gospel truth but i thought it was worth the post. Tom Waits like i said seemed the most unlikely but i really hope that is true.

while i would like to believe this as true, i think this may be a little off from what Superfly described as a "diverse lineup", its almost too predictable, like someone watched our wishlist and then posted a "initial lineup".......plus, there is no one on that lineup that "are going to be some surprises that no one else has"......dont ya think?
This is from Jonathon Mayers, the President of Superfly
Bonnaroo VI is set for June 14-17. A limited allotment of "a few thousand tickets" went on sale at the end of 2006 and sold out quickly, before any acts were announced. Mayers expects the 2007 lineup to start being announced by the end of the month.
"It's a diverse lineup, strong throughout," says Mayers. "We're really excited about some of the new artists that haven't played the festival, and I think there are going to be some surprises that no one else has. Each year we try to raise it a notch, present different artists and expand what Bonnaroo means."
plus, i hardly think 6-7 new bands on that lineup really classify as "trying to raise it a notch"

Did anyone notice that a little while ago it said [citation needed] next to the lineup post but now that has disappeared. I can't find the citation though.
I personally think this could be completely realstic except for the Tom Waits part (I find that one tough to believe) however, if he is there, Primus better be, for "Tommy the Cat" with Tom Waits. Anyways, the thing to keep in mind is this is not the entire intital lineup announcement leaked. I do not have any idea how it was obtained but, its very possible that someone who works in the festival just said these bands to someone in passing. The intial announcement is usually around 60 bands, this "leak" is around 20 so if it is true there must be more bands with the announcement. I really hope its true though because thats a bad ass start to Roo 07 if its true.
But as for other logics: I'm not sure it looks un-Rooish due to the lack of jam bands, I think that it's very similar to the last couple of years... And I think this would take it "up a notch" in the sense of so many huge bands that could easily be headliners (this lineup would put Pearl Jam in the daytime- which may be good for what they want as a first festival back in awhile).
Anyway, probably just a dream list, although a plausible one.
Tom Waits makes sense, it's one of those surprises that the guy mentioned. Pearl Jam isn't a surprise for us, but it's still a surprise for most people because they haven't played an American festival in so long. And if this was the lineup, which I doubt, then they'd definitely be a (the?) headliner. In fact, it looks lacking on headliners to me. Tom Waits is the closest I can see. Gov't Mule is unlikely too given they're in Germany the week of.
All that negativity put aside, I'll be happy to say I made an ass outta myself if this is true. I just think outta 20 bands it looks really similar to this board's wishes and the previous Wikipedia rumors.
