Fountains of Wayne!!! They are some of the cleverest pop songwriters out there, and have been on my Bonnaroo wishlist for years. Finally, an artist I'm really stoked about!
Fountains of F'ng Wayne? Are you serious? I'm not sure how I feel about that... If I hear Stacy's Mom booming out of Centaroo I might have to kill someone...

Yeah, like we said earlier, "Stacy's Mom" is not exactly representative of Fountains of Wayne catalog of music as a whole...
I remember a song by them from (I think it was) the Scream 2 soundtrack, "Sink to the Bottom", that wasn't that bad - And I know they're similiar to Modest Mouse in that they've been around for a long time but just recently got big, but I feel like a lot of people would react the way I did when they see that these guys are on the line up. Oh well.
I'm not that much of a fan of the song however, my girlfriend's name's stacie and consequently she is. I do like their other stuff though. She was pretty stoked to hear that they'll be there as well.
I saw Fountains of Wayne probably 10 years ago when they opened up for Smashing Pumpkins. It was my first "real" concert but I thought they effen rocked. I am pretty excited to see them in the line-up.

Jiglet, without knowing that well what music you're into, I'd highly recommend checking out 2003's "Welcome Interstate Managers". Just like dudezer said, you can hear "Stacy's Mom" in the context of all the other types of songs they write. There is a consistent theme in the music of strong pop hooks and tightly composed songs coupled with quirky narratives, of which that song is just one example of many, surprisingly varied tunes. It's just a fantastic album.
Not to sound too corny, but Fountains of Wayne have some very cool, powerful friends (powerful as in indie rock/film powerful)... It's actually a pretty cool choice. They got mangled by the label machine in having that song shoved down people's throats.
Hey they got a funny, subtle mention on the Sopranos, so that has to count for something.

Right. As many people know, Adam Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood (the group's principal songwiters) are pretty tight with James Iha and D'Arcy of Smashing Pumpkins, doing several projects together over the last decade or so. Also-- and I suppose this might take them down in some people's estimations-- Schlesinger was the composer of the Oscar-nominated theme song to the Tom Hanks film "That Thing You Do!". In my opinion, regardless of how you like that song, that is a very impressive part of his resume.
Hey Guys, being reading since last year, finally decided I needed to buck up and get an account because this was too good to pass up. I know wikipedia has posted names before and had them taking off but this one seems to have a bit more of an "official" feel to it. If this turns out to be true then we are all in for another great year of music:
