I will believe all of it when the lineup comes out..especially when it comes to The Police. I just have to make sure I have an extra set of pants close by if its true

thats a decent lineup, but bonnaroo has had much better, but this is still a work in progress, its not complete yet, thats about half the bands, i would expect more bigger names to come out later along with smaller and mid-sized bands
Yeah I pretty much shat myself when I saw it the first time. I know The Police sounds pretty far fetched but in truth reunion talk has been running rampant lately and after Stuart saw the awesomeness that is Bonnaroo last year there is no doubt he wants to return. Kudos to Danbird. If Wilco and Kings of Leon are there (I'm keeping my fingers crossed) then straight up '07 will be like penut butter and jelly getting together for the first time.
that leaves alot of spots and all of those seem feasible. but it would seem like weak headliners. the police is a huge reunion and should headline. i personally think pj should open for neil young headliner or something but not a headline. but i was a HUGE pearljam fan 10 years ago and will certainly enjoy it if they are a headliner. i think it will be better then petty was and certainly better then dylan would be headlining. i really really hope dylan dosent headline. he opened for a headliner last time and people were going back to camp. he is a legend but his live show these days is certainly not bonnaroo headline level. id have to say thats inaccurate. although i think most of those bands will be there. just not sure about the headline slots. if its true id have to call it the weakest lineup yet, my guess is that its based on all the rumors bouncing around and logical guesses. but maybe its a leak to the paper. time will tell. if they remove dylan and replace him with dave, or phil, or something it would would jump ahead of 05 but not much else. it will be an awesome time no matter what. hopefully we will all know for sure really soon. the anticipation is killing me.

Maybe a Bobby Z headlining show would feature special guests. Or, maybe, he could be a Sunday headliner so people disinterested could leave early if they so choose.
Or, like the early rumors last year that proved about 95% accurate, where Beck was listed as a headliner...it will pan out that Dylan, like Beck, will play a pre-headliner set or a big stage late-night deal.
Didn't someone post a couple of hours ago that Bela Fleck is booked pretty far away for 3 out of 4 Roo dates? I guess anything is possible.
Personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by this rumour -- not enough to stay away but still not quite what I was hoping for. It does sound pretty realistic, though.
Hey Guys, being reading since last year, finally decided I needed to buck up and get an account because this was too good to pass up. I know wikipedia has posted names before and had them taking off but this one seems to have a bit more of an "official" feel to it. If this turns out to be true then we are all in for another great year of music:
Sources close to the Manchester Times have recieved confirmation that The Police, Bob Dylan, and Pearl Jam have been confirmed to headline the 2007 Bonnaroo Music Festival. The lineup also includes Tom Waits, Willie Nelson, Umphrey's McGee, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, The Black Crowes, Ryan Adams, My Morning Jacket, Arcade Fire, Keller Williams Band, Hot Chip, America, TV on the Radio, Fountains of Wayne, Modest Mouse, Les Claypool, The Shins, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Toots and the Maytals, The Roots, The Decemberists, Of Montreal, Cat Power, Ozomatli, Perpetual Groove, Band of Horses, John Butler Trio, Nickel Creek, Medeski Martin and Wood, Lily Allen, Neko Case, Keiren Hedben (Four Tet) & Steve Reid, The Hold Steady, Earl Scuggs, Charlie Louvin, Man Man, Grizzly Bear, Konono #1, The Slip, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Uncle Earl, Annuals, Beirut, M. Ward, Cold War Kids, and Girl Talk. Superfly Productions plans to officially announce the lineup on January 31st.

I saw Dylan a few times over the summer and he was incredible. There is no doubt in my mind he will be a good headliner. Playing some of the new tracks seems to have really rejuvinated him. That lineup was incredible though, hopefully Ben Harper or Trey will make it.

I've been reading these boards for awhile and only until now have I decided to post (what better time than now with this potential leak?), and I must say...I saw Dylan do a show with The Raconteurs two months ago and nearly fell asleep. Granted, I'm not the BIGGEST Dylan fan in the world (I actually went to see The Raconteurs), but it was a disappointment. Give him credit where credit is due, the guy is a legend, but he had no stage presence whatsoever (did he ever? I don't know) and didn't even play guitar. I'm just surprised to see everyone here on the boards generally feel the same way since most of you probably like Dylan more than I do. Interesting.
Anyway, if this lineup is true, I'm glad to see Of Montreal listed. They put on a really great live show (seen them twice) and I'll definitely want to see them again. As for the other two possible headliners, can't complain about The Police and gotta love Pearl Jam. I'd be a happy camper.
Not that I believe that line-up is true but shouldn't some rumors with validity have happened already. We know that Superfly is planning on releasing a line-up in about two weeks. So you would think with all the people out there trying to find out the info, someone would get their hands on something and "leak" it.
Also, someone said earlier in one of these threads that the bands that have already announced that they were playing might have been doing it for marketing reasons. Since I have found myself already getting Cold War Kids and listening to The Hold Steady lately, I think that alot of bands (or at least their marketing departments) would want their name out there early generating buzz and such.
Either which way, I would be super happy with that line-up and I catch myself putting the schedule together in my head, as if it were for real. Who wouldnt love an Arcade Fire into TV on the Radio late night.

The mention of America really stuck out to me as weird so I did a quick little search to see if they were still alive, let alone together and this is part of what I found on Wikki:
After over two decades operating in the shadows of the music industry, the dream of a full-scale commercial comeback still seemed far-fetched for America as the year 2006 opened. Although the group remained very much active and popular in the nostalgia concert circuit and had occasionally issued new material on minor labels, their offerings were largely ignored by the wider commerical music industry and record-buying public. However, a fateful connection would provide a sudden and unexpected change in fortune for the group.
Here & Now, to be released in January 2007, is America's first major label studio album in over 20 yearsDuring the mid-2000s, Beckley struck up a correspondence with Adam Schlesinger of the indie-rock group Fountains Of Wayne. Beckley had been a fan of the 2003 Fountains Of Wayne album Welcome Interstate Managers, and Schlesinger turned out to be a fan of America's work. The exchange of songs between the two led them to record a few tracks together. The recordings came to the attention of SonyBMG's new Burgundy Records label, which was impressed both by the quality of the material and by the possibility of pairing America with other indie artists. The label signed America to record a new album with Schlesinger and his musical partner, James Iha, formerly of Smashing Pumpkins, at the production helm. Entitled Here & Now, it would be America's first major-label studio album since Perspective in 1984.
The recording sessions at Stratosphere Sound in New York City, which ran through July, attracted a number of notable guest musicians, including Ryan Adams, Ben Kweller, along with members from the groups Nada Surf and My Morning Jacket. Seasoned veterans Stephen Bishop and Rusty Young lended helping hands as well.
In an effort to aim the album toward both younger and older audiences, the label decided to bundle the new album with a second disc comprising live performances of every track from History: America's Greatest Hits, previously recorded at XM Radio as part of XM's Then Again...Live series.
In the run-up to the album's scheduled release on January 16, 2007, America attracted a publicity buzz unseen since the early 1980s. In addition, early positive reviews of the album suggested a possible critical reappraisal of the group's work and legacy and the possibility that 1970s soft-rock could become "cool" and "hip" with a newer generation of musicians and fans.
So I guess that there is some synergy involved with this rumour.
Also, Bela Fleck is playing on the 15th in Albany, NY and the 17th in Indiana. It's a haul but definitely feasible if they are determined enough.

Dylan played for about 2 hours at his Madison show on the last tour. He could probably do another 30 minutes to an hour, especially if he had some special guests like Bobby Weir, etc. That Madison show was very energetic for such an aged performer and he still likes to pull out rare material and rearrange classics.
Feasibly, Dylan could make a fine headliner (especially on a Sunday night) but I'm more inclined to think he will end up like Beck last year.

I don't know what I like more about the lineup, that it has so many awesome bands or that it has so many from my list entry for the contest. Embellishments aside, that is such a terribly strong lineup it's so difficult to believe yet so difficult not to just want to assume it's true. Oh, the torture...
dmbfanintn, didn't you say there was a city council meeting or something this Friday that you were going to attend? I hope you're still available to do that for all your cyber-buddies.
edit: Yeah, new America album this week, got a good review from allmusic.com

America played a new song on one of the late night shows recently (I think it was Leno but I wasnt paying close attention until the music started with Ryan Adams and Ben Kweller. It was pretty cool.
Dylan was definitly rejuvinated this summer, but I would agree that it would be very very difficult for him to fill out a headliner slot. January 31st is still two weeks away though so I still expect some major additions / minor changes (i.e. Bela Fleck being so far away and Nickle Creek on "hiatus"). Either way if this line up does pan out I can't really complain. I mean, as far as relatively new and upcoming bands go, The Hold Steady, Arcade Fire, and TV on The Radio pretty much take the cake. Not that it needs mentioning but Tommy mother fuckin' Waits!?!?!?! M. Ward's stock is only rising, and as for Cat Power and Neko Case? I'd be so bold as to say the two best female singer/songwriters around right now. And how can anyone not be fully erect over the possibility of a Pearl Jam into a MMJ late night set. Or.... if the Roo Gods truly wanted to bestow upon us the greatest day in Bonnaroo history; Pearl Jam into Neil Young (in any form) into MMJ late night. Hey, I can dream can't I?
I saw Dylan back in 99 with Phil and Friends opening for him. He played for a solid 2 to 2.5 hours. Phil came out and played with him for a couple. It was a great show. They did something like 3 encores. Just kept playing and playing, and Bob seemed to be having a great time(we snuck down to the floor, so we were pretty close). This was the only time I saw him though. So I can't speak to what his shows are like now.
