Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Errr, there's no confirmation. The Police reunion in general makes sense, but I think that lineup is a little stacked. My Bloody Valentine and the Police and the Smashing Pumpkins and RHCP would all be really big and really expensive shows, I don't think they'll all be there.
HAHAHA! That makes me laugh. Remember last year when the Smiths, MBV & Massive Attack were all playing and then ended up with Tool & Depeche Mode. What a joke...
It would be great if The Police headlined, Primus played a late set, and Oysterhead showed up as a surprise. But I'm not sure how likely that could be.

Its possible, its time for Primus to come back to Roo.

hah! They'd need at least 6 reunions, all of which could be headliners on their own in addition to the other obvious headliners. At least the guy who posted the Bonnaroo lineup made a plausible one...
Looks like both the Police and Bonnaroo will be making a announcement by the end of the month. ( I hope) By the way 07 is the 25th anniversary of seeing the Police. Ann Arbor Michigan, Chrisler Arena. Sold our good tickets because a friend had a inside line on some GREAT tickets. Ended up with poor tickets. Oh well, better than none. Still a awesome show.
"I want to take all my clothes off and run naked among you!! That makes me laugh . Less then said " I would love to take off my clothes and run among you as well!!
"We can reveal that The Police will open the Grammy Music Awards show on February 11, 2007. This will be the band's very first public performance since their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and will lead to around 80 live dates to follow."
I wouldn't say mark 'em down, but with such a big tour coming, a festival would be in the cards. You know everybody wants them, and since Coachella didn't get 'em, I think Bonnaroo's the only other one big enough. They may say 'no,' though, because economically they are probably better off putting on their own shows.
I was reading through the most recent RS, and they were listing average ticket prices for the Stones and Madonna and co. for 2006, and they were from $120-$200. Even at $100 a ticket playing 20,000 seat venues the Police would be making a TON, and much more than Roo. However, Copeland obviously enjoying Roo so much does give them a decent chance to play, so I definitely won't count them out, I'll just be playing the waiting game.
they aren't playing at coachella!! and i think them playing is a possibility just because they can make plenty of money (and they already have plenty) touring throughout the UK as the articles suggest they will be doing. but bonnaroo isn't about making money, it's about having fun..and who doesn't want to have fun?!

Well, I can only see them doing one festival and I am sure they would get a pretty penny playing roo. Alot of bands these days are doing festival gigs because they payouts are better than when they tour..at least for the more decent names. The Police would get a few mil just for playing without a doubt.
If The Police are really going to headline this year's Bonnaroo, how difficult will it be to get a ticket? I know there were quite a few people last year who were there primarily for Radiohead, but a Police reunion is a different beast altogether.
I'm just wondering because funds are a little tight for me at the moment, and I don't want to be shut out this year. How difficult was it to get tickets when The Dead played 'Roo?
I think the only impact you see as far as tickets go is with the VIP tickets. Honestly VIP was out of the question when The Dead played so I really did not pay attention. I am going to go out on a limb here and say Groups such as the Police and The Dead would have a greater impact on the VIP tickets going faster than say Radiohead simply cause of demographics. Just a hunch. For the most part I would say you have 3 to 4 weeks to snag VIP's give or take a week. As for GA tickets I don't think you have anything to worry about. Even if the Police headline.

You're very right-- and add Pearl Jam there to that list of VIP drains. The Police and Dylan represent a potential draw of an older demographic with disposable income; Pearl Jam is beginning to invade that territory with the 30-somethings. PJ has offered packages to their Hawaii gigs that were VIP in nature and has also seen a legion of older fans with families now paying ALOT to follow to several shows. And, they have a fan base that is incredibly net savvy, looking for exclusives and using the Ten Club presales.
So, I would recommend that anyone wanting VIP to try and get them as early as possible. If these are our headliners, they will not be waiting until May to sell out.
Somewhere it was mentioned that The Police are playing an 80 date tour, I'd guess that Police fans who weren't into the Bonnaroo vibe would find somewhere else to see them. However if Roo announces before the rest of the tour folks might think it's their only chance (cf. Pixies 2004 - Coachella announced the reunion first, but there was a small tour befor ethe Coachella date itself). Worst case is those who buy Roo tix (money no object) without even finding out what that vibe is.

i feel like the only person here who WILL BE disappointed if the Police headlining rumors is true :-\
My 15 year old daughter would also be disappointed at the Police headling And personally, there are many bands I would rather see headline, but I will not be dissapointed if they do.

Same here, to a point. I wouldn't call myself a Police fan, but they are a major part of rock history and I'd be very excited about their headlining simply because of the impact and importance. Plus I'm sure they'd put on a killer show.

My friends and I have been discussing this and none of us understand why The Police would headline. If i was 30-something years old and listened to a lot of pop music in the 80s then maybe I'd be interested but like a lot of bonnaroo fans I'm early 20s and into jam bands, and just don't get the appeal. I have never bought a single album or downloaded any shows. When it comes to classic rock bands i listen to zeplin, floyd, grateful dead, dylan, neil young, etc. not the police. I love great music, but who considers The Police to be especially great music? I can't remember the last time I was talking about music with someone and they were like "you should really check out the police, man." Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I really want to go back to the roo but it's lookin like I may end up elsewhere come june.

I think since the police have a big tour already announced too tickets wont sell out irregularly fast. As for the appeal of the police, well they're probably one of the best pop bands ever, and their songs are catchy, and they are all infact very skilled musicians. Kinda like the dmb of the 70's and 80's. I'm only 17 and i'd love to see the police headline, more then almost anyone else.
It's refreshing to know another 17 year old likes the Police. I've got a couple friends who like them, including the one I'm going to Roo with, but by and large my friends don't like them/don't know them.
Also, to Herbalicious, if you're STILL on the jam bands kick, then Bonnaroo is not for you. Look at Langerado, with it's HUGE jam collection, or Wakarusa with it's not-as-impressive though still good group of bands. If not, open your spectrum and realize that the Police have written songs that stand along those of anyone in music. It's not all about noodling. Look up some live tracks from the Police and listen to how good Sting's voice is.
I have never bought a single album or downloaded any shows.
Not to be rude, you don't get to have an opinion then. I mean, every single one of their albums went platinum (their last one going 8x over). Imagine if U2 had broken up after the Joshua Tree. That's essentially what happened with the Police.
I understand it's easy to be blinded by the lameness of Sting's solo career, but the Police would be a major coup and a fun show.

It seems like a lot of the people who dont like the police headlining just know that they were a "pop" band in the 80's. When in fact, they've been around since the 70's, and played a lot more then pop music. They are a band you really have to check out before you can naysay on them.
