I almost want them to be be preheadliner to Metallica instead of late night. A conflict of them and MMJ or Sigur Ros would be horrible.
I would actually think other than late-night(which would cause all kinds of conflicts) the best spot for The Mars Volta is the spot The White Stripes had and close out the Which Stage on Sunday. I think a spot there would attract more people than conflicts during late night. The Mars Volta have done day sets on a big stage such as Big Day Out 2004.
I know White Stripes concerts are generally shorter than TMV's, but how long was White Stripes' show, last year ? (not the scheduled time, but how long were they on stage?|)
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but TMV will NOT be at roo this year. This is coming from an inside source, but unfortunately I cannot reveal who that is. I just thought it was right to let you know what I could.

Well, if The Mars Volta are not going to be at Bonnaroo this year to blow my mind, then we need to get Acid Mothers Temple. We need some sort of crazy psychedelia at Roo.

Well, thanks for thew heads-up. It's all good though. We'll keep the thread alive. Although I'm remaining optimistic, I understand you can't have everybody that you want to play.
Buuuut.......at least it doesn't hurt anybody to keep talking about it, so that maybe in the future someone who has a say can know that there is a fanbase for this band at Bonnaroo.
That said, I completely agree with having Acid Mothers Temple play. Or at least some kind of really good psychedelic band.
What doth thou source say of an Omar solo show? The U.S. is in deep need of some Omar Quintet touring, and they have played one-off shows at festivals before. I definitely will not get my hopes up for that to happen either, but never say never! Hehe.
But yeah, definitely not the end of the world here.
i just realized how good tmv is at about pg 34 (about 2 weeks ago) of this thread but at least i made it in time for bonnaroo - im convinced after that slip up in the jambase article that theyll be added at some point
I was kind of hoping that TMV wouldn't get added, in the back of my head.
There are so many potential conflicts already (for me, at least). This years fest is stacked from the top of the card to the bottom with acts that I'm really interested in seeing. And I'm going to see them in April, any way... so. It's all good.
I still wouldn't mind if they got added for a White Stripes time slot, but, even then I'd still be conflicted.

If TMV is not coming, this thread will still thrive... as a source of TMV related news for the Roosters. Cuz God knows I spend more time here than the cesspool that is thecomatorium.
I just bought my ticket to see them in the NOLA at HOB, better be a great show. I'm still quite bummed they won't be at the Roo, and I'm really curious as to their reasoning for pulling out at the last minute. I mean it's not like they can get anyone pregnant, so you might as well finish the deal instead of pulling out. We all know pulling out doesn't work well anyway.

as I said until the very end of the nightwatchmen's set I had faith that rage would appear. I will feel this way about TMV until I leave the farm...and still look over my shoulder as I am leaving!
