The only reason they cancelled the Atlanta show was because of the tornadoes that hit Atlanta a couple of weekends ago and the Tabernacle was hit and there was no alternate venue to be found.
However, I am going to try and convince my friend that was going to come with me to Atlanta to try and get tickets to Myrtle Beach or Orlando.

I went to Columbus in January.
Cancelled.
I was going to Atlanta next week.
Cancelled.
They won't come to Bonnaroo.
They won't play Nashville.
What the f u c k am I supposed to do?
I've supported this band as much as I can.
I've flown to New York, gone to Bonnaroo, driven to Atlanta, driven to Columbus (with no return for my troubles there), and they just will not book a show in my hometown.
I'm a superfan. I own all the vinyl, all the cds, all the solo stuff tons of boots, all that jazz. I don't feel as if they owe me anything, but it makes me sick that I've spent all this time and money to see them and it just can't happen.
This cancellation is not the band's fault...act of nature or whatever. It just sucks to put the time and effort to do something and it gets consistently screwed. They didn't give me many options with their limited tour schedule, but I tried, twice.
Whatever. I'm going to the rescheduled Columbus show, and I have no doubt that they will screw me over on that one too. It's a helpless feeling.

^ i know how you feel. i live in murfreesboro. ive traveled to see them, resulting in cancellations. i have been a die hard fan since deloused and i feel like they really don't try too much with their touring and what not. i dont know. i understand how you feel and it pisses me off. i have seen them before twice and they were AWESOME shows but damn...i feel like they have screwed me over quite a bit. should i stop listening? hells no. they are great but jeez, make me feel loved TMV, i give you tons of it.
Man, my friend needs to get his ass in gear and buy his ticket, because I know these sales are gonna pick up allot because of this. Especially since there isn't anything rescheduled...
3 days til Myrtle Beach.... Can I get a headcount? I'd love to meet up with some of you peeps and share some drinks before the show!!! My Roo buddy who was gonna go with me dropped out at the last minute, due to school or some shit, so I'll be going all by my lonesome.
Also, "Goliath (El-P Mix)" is on the soundtrack to the racing video game "Gran Turismo 5.
Sorry to double post, but this just in to those interested in a preview of what to look forward to at the coming shows this month. Link not supplied to secure anonymity. From The Comatoreum:
I just came from the show. same set list as rest of shows, they didnt play day of the baphomets though.
The show was great. The place was packed with a bunch of mostly young, annoying looking scene kids. There was a kid who even had a tattoo similar to one of the guys in the band, the atom particle one. They whole band moved around the whole time, Cedric went crazy. I saw his eyes when he walked into the stage and I swear I havent seen somebody with such an crazy look in a long time. Cedric threw like three cymbal stands at the public, one with the cymbal included(I tried to get the third one, but my fingers were about to break so thankfully I was able to let go of it). He also threw one of his mugs at the crowd and even the mic stand which the crazy crowd broke. Cedric even picked up somebody's glasses from the crowd and put them on and did some weird little skit. He was seriously all over the place through out the whole show, it was very entertaining. The people started moshing whenever they could and that was extremely annoying.
the music was tight the whole time. I didnt like Omar's noodling so much, I feel like he was too relaxed, not trying hard enough to play well. I think his lead playing and his improv was probably more focused around 05-06. Still I was glad that he seemed to be having more fun, it kind of showed in his more relaxed/sloppy playing. Juan did some sick ass riff during one of the drunkship jams, he kept it going well, even before the end when everybody was just playing random notes and it really didnt sound that good. Thomas was a beast like usual, Cedric performed and sang up to par, Adrian and Marcel did well in coloring the sound with the random percussion sounds and horn riffs, and Ikey was actually loud and rocking out harder than ever. Pablo was low in the mix, but he did his thang I suppose.
bah all the songs were good, but my favorite ones were the ones with the super extended extremely repetitive jams like Cygnus and Goliath. Tetra was awesome, Goliath was played super fast. Drunkship had some really good new jams which sounded like new material (at least the bass lines).

<3 I will see tmv live at sasquatch festival a few weeks before bonnaroo, they are opening for the flaming lips ufo show!
also in store for that day Battles, Flight Of The Conchords, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Built To Spill, The Hives, Ghostland Observatory and some good comedy from Michael Ian Black + Eugene Mirman
highlights were Goliath, Tetra, and Cygnus, I'll have more to post tomorrow, I'm too tired now, plus a little upset, I got a ticket on the way back for speeding......
Same feeling I had when I saw them for New Years. I truly believe that after you see The Mars Volta in concert, the way you see, percieve and feel concerts will be altered forever.
Ok, so like I said they show was great. On;y real gripe I have is the fact that they played the exact same setlist as they have been playing. Only a few slight variations.
Fistful of Dollars intro Roulette Dares Viscera Eyes Wax Simulacra Goliath - (this was awesome, great breakdown in the middle, Ikey went off during this part) Ouroborous Pre-Tetra - (this was rather lenghty, one thing different from other setlists) Tetragrammaton Pre-Agadez Agadez Pre-Cygnus Cygnus - (this was great, broke it down in the middle of it for about 10 minutes, then went back and finished the song, Cedric was a madman on stage at this point) Pre-Aberinkula Aberinkula Drunkship
that is where they ended. I went up right next to the stage after they were done, trying to get a setlist, and they wouldn't give any out. I got a glimpse of the setlist, and there were 3 more songs on it, couldn't see the next two, but the last song was definately Baphomets. They then simply ripped up the setlist and threw them away (wtf is up with that). You could tell they were having fun with everything. This lineup is great. TP is a beast, they gave him ample solos, and whenever he started to go off on on, the rest of the band would stop playing, turn around and simply watch him work his magic. It was great.
I'll have more to say later but I gotta go now

"I just got fragged by a non-working speak." 5 Roo's and counting
The crowds for this recent leg have, reportedly, been pretty meh... at the show I went to, while they were jamming during, I think, Cygnus, some dude yelled out "play something off of Deloused!" Cedric got pissed, and while they were jamming, said back "hey, ass hole, if you don't like it then get the fuck back and come back in a couple of weeks for Panic at the Disco."
But I read the Florida crowds weren't much better, either... maybe they feel we don't deserve the rest? But then again, the show was damn near 3 hours, with those three songs added (Mecca, Illyena, and Baphomets) that would add about 30 minutes... So I have no idea.
Oh, yeah... he threw the cymbal at y'all, right? That sounded so awesome... "this is a symbol of our appreciation for you" or something like that... forgot about that, sorry.
