Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!

I'm with you Ziggy. The only difference is that I had to drive to Ohio from Nashville three times to finally see them last year, and this time they're finally coming to me. YES!
I must reiterate what everyone on here is saying.....you MUST see this show. Bonnaroo 05 was unreal. And where Jon Theodore looked like he couldn't stand the heat, I think Thomas is gonna harness the power and spontaneously combust in a cloud of ganj smoke.
I want to see Pridgen wandering around Bonnaroo... I dunno, I just foresee something like that happening. The guy is a trip.
Alright, now that we've done it, what does everyone want to see on the setlist?
I want: A few new songs (LP5 and 6 are almost done) Goliath (that song kills live, even though it was played at almost a hundred concerts last year.) Cicatriz ESP (haven't seen this one live, yet) Day Of The Baphomets (killer song, easily one of their best) Cygnus Vismund Cygnus Drunkship of Lanterns Concertina Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt
Considering LP5 maybe out before Bonnaroo, we may see a couple of songs from the album. Hopefully they play a set that pulls from all their albums. This can be done if they get a late-nite show and play to 3 1/2 hours like they did on their spring leg of the tour in Europe. If so, I'd imagine we would get around 3 songs that they play into monster jams.
What they play? I really don't care. I just hope they put on the best show possible and blow everyone away. Make the people who didn't see them feel bad that they missed the best show of the weekend.
Though if they played a 30 minute Cicatriz like they have in the past. My mind will be blown.
Extended 2 hour version of Cicatriz featuring a surprise guest solo by John Frusciante to close the first half of their show (Like MMJ with One Big Holiday last year)
okay...I must be enlightened. I have heard a lot of good things about the mars volta, and I have heard a few songs I really didn't like much, and then the only other time I enjoyed it was part mystery as to what was playing, part awe of sound, and part crawling towards the speakers with the fear....help me out, where do I start?

your best bet might be Frances the Mute. I'd say it's their second best and probably the easiest to get into. You'll need to listen to the entire album, though. Same goes for all of their stuff. One song won't give you the full idea of what Mars Volta is. Their first two albums are concept albums, so just listening to once random track might sound really out of place.
After Frances, I'd go to De-Loused in the Comatorium. Easily my favourite by them. Read up on the album, it has a really good story behind it and knowing it gives you a better appreciation for the album, I find.
As far as individual songs to listen to. I'd say give these a listen
From De-Loused Drunkship Of Lanterns Roulette Dares Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt
From Frances L'Via L'Viaquez (one hell of a guitar solo care of Mr John Frusciante) Cassandra Geminni (all like 10 parts of it)
I'm not as big of a fan of the other albums, but there is still some good stuff to be found on them.
edit: Having said all of this, Mars Volta is the type of band that some people just won't like. It can be a little out there. Perhaps try giving them a few chances. I finally got into them after maybe the 3rd time I listened to De-Loused.
honestly, for a first time TMV listener, I would recomend buying deloused in the comatorium and listening to it in full (an album is a whole piece of art. it wasnt meant to be split up the first time you hear it) and then going to frances the mute but thats just my opinion. i bought frances first and it took me another year or two to really get into em. but either way, come to their show and then you will see whats up. i saw them on their last Atlanta date and they tore the tabernacle to shreds. i get the feeling it IS going to be a show people regret missing but pray to god or whoever that they dont conflict late night phish with late night tmv...please..
As far as songs that I want to hear...it's one and only one.... Cassandra
Give it to us!
And second, if TMV and Phish are conflicting with each other late night, I honestly would be so torn as to what to do. It would literally be the worst possibly conflict for me man.
I really want to hear Roulette Dares. When I saw them in '05 here in Atlanta the jam on that was the most beautiful piece of music I've heard, to this day. Plus it's my favorite TMV song so that didn't hurt either.

The show TMV put on at Bonnaroo 2005 is legendary. It's also once of those classic moments where, years later, every single person you've ever met claims to have been there, which is funny because the tent was freaking deserted about 10 minutes into their set. There was a sizeable crowd hanging out to see what the action was, then they started playing and frightened people who weren't prepared for the onslaught were running away, towards Galactic's Krewe de Carnivale or STS9. I had started way at the back of the tent, but by the time TMV had finished their first song, I was able to walk cleanly to the dead middle, right in front of the soundboard.
It was a glorious evening.
Haha, yes. I remember Saul Williams before Volta as well. For the first twenty minutes or so, everyone was just looking around like "what the hell is going on?" The Volta show had a similar feel...like everyone knew something interesting was happening, but to try to hold on to it would have been futile.
