So The Mars Volta will be performing in Cincinnati on October 17th. The only problem is moe. is also performing. I need some guidance. Do I go with moe. or should I risk a Volta show. Mind you I have been let down multiple times by The Mars Volta but something makes me want to go back for more...

Saw Volta last night in Charlotte, great show. But that's beside the point.
There's talk that the show in Raleigh earlier was cancelled because Thomas Pridgen was fired. There's not much more to it, right now, but that's the word.

W-T-F. that better not be true. any updates? i'll google. i <3 tom.
They apparently showed up at the venue, set up, started soundcheck, Cedric and Thomas got into it, and either Thomas just left or he was kicked out. He then left in a cab, separate from the rest of the band.
Still not much official word. Thomas has been tiptoe-ing around it in Facebook and Myspace messages.
I've read like 80% of the posts on the "Prigden fired" thread on the coma, and there is so much contradicting information. Some people say they heard from security guys at the show he was fired. Some people say they talked to the guy that filled in for him at the tribute show and he laughed at the subject of Thomas being fired. IDk, the whole thing seems sort of awkward.
If it is in fact true, I doubt we'll get an "official" word about it until he is replaced. That just seems to be the way that these guys roll, in a cloud of mystery.

^That thread is a fucking riot. Did you see that poor kid's posts where he thought he got Thomas fired for posting a screenshot of his conversation, and was telling everyone he wanted to kill himself?

Some people, man...
ahahaha. i like the coma though... not a member though, so i dont like it that much, lol. it is pretty entertaining.
^^^the coma is awfully entertaining. 75% of the time you can't make any sort of post without being called out about it.
and yeah, I read the part about that kid, cracked me up. The were giving him so much crap at one point about it. He really thought it was all his fault haha

ya i dont know what went down but i'm startin to think that omar may be tha kinda guy who cuts his nose off to spite his own face...if ya know what i'm sayin! bein a pefectionist is comendible but bein a control feak is just obnoxious sometime! i cant imagine where they goin to find a more talented drummer! so sad!
so I'm friends with Thomas on facebook, and he confirmed on facebook he is no longer with Volta, but still nothing official from anyone really......
nola ask Thomas WTF happened. I saw them here in Nashville, and two days later he was fired????
I'm not gonna do that. The guy gets like a million and one questions on his fb each day about it, I'm sure he's tired of hearing about it and answering questions about it. He just made some interesting posts on facebook though that I posted over on coma....
from Thomas' facebook account....
Thomas Pridgen karma......... in 6 months you'll understand why i wrote that........
Thomas Pridgen well im recording my own project with some friends....but yeh....karma homie thats real nuts
Thomas Pridgen i was a lil bitter about that situation but now im focused on myself...i spent 3 years focusing on being someones "sideman" who takes drum solos on records...name one drummer whos a sideman who takes drum solos on records!!! i thank god that in those 3 years i stacked and bought a house, i won a grammy......shit like that..but sometimes god has ... Read Moreto take you out of a situation to put you in a better one...ive been playing for 23 years as a sideman, if you know anything about me...it seems like my life was already setup...so why couldnt this be another setup that leads up to bigger and better....
just a thought
The top one was his status and the rest were comments to what other people had to say about his status...
I'm glad for the guy, he clearly wasn't happy with where he stood in the band, so I commend him for going his own route. He says he's recording stuff with friends of his, so I think he's on the right track. The guy has a world of talent, so I'm quite interested to see where he goes next.
That being said, I'm also interested to see where TMV goes next as well. They've got a show next Sunday in Oslo, so maybe we'll get an official announcement before then, or maybe we'll simply have a fill-in drummer for the time being (a-la Deantoni Parks in 2006)

Very good first impressions, with this one... definitely stronger than Xenophanes, his first album with Ximena on vocals. Well varied, and sonically dynamic album right here, folks. Give it a spin.
The new drummer is indeed Dave Elitch... and here's the setlist of tonight's show:
Son et lumiere-> Inertiatic Cotopaxi L'Via L'viaquez Eriatarka Goliath Since We've Been Wrong Cicatriz Halo Of Nembutals MIRANDA Teflon Viscera Eyes The Widow Roulette Dares Total time: Just over 2 hours.
Haha, thats not in the cards for me. Love to and see the Volta. I'm just hoping that Superfly chooses the Volta as a band to return for a second straight year.
