I'm a late bloomer with these guys. I really couldnt stand the lead singers voice. I skipped their set in 09 to rest up for NIN. I just revisited some of their music and i quackin love it! This band is crazy and I want to see them live so bad now. I really hope they're there again
Same here. I tried hard to like them but just didn't. And then they released Bedlam and I loved it. I went back and listened to their older stuff and somehow it all clicked for me. Seen them live twice since then and I just love them. Great energy. I would love to see them at Roo again, but maybe at night.

I was actually disappointed by their set. I can't really place what was wrong, maybe it was their drummer, maybe the fact that it was on the which stage during the day. In any event their set WAS good, I was just expecting greatness.
EDIT: In hindsight, I should have done what you did and rested up, considering I FELL ASLEEP during NIN.
Yeah, they should be at the farm next year. I would say an Omar solo show instead, but as we saw during the last Omar solo tour, that WAS the Mars Volta. It seems Ikey is out of the band and what we saw was the Mars Volta. Enough talk though, here's some videos.
Oh yeah. The "solo" shows were amazing. I was totally blown away when I saw them in Atlanta. To see them up close in an intimate venue such as the one I was at, was a fantastic concert experience.
All what? Dyslexicon is pretty much official, and I don't know about Trinkets at all. I guess fans just hear the songs, pick out words from them that stand out or are repeated and use them as song titles, doesn't sound too demanding to me.

I'd definitely settle for some ORLG. I saw their show in Knoxville at the Bijou and it was incredible. Best show I've seen this year outside of Bonnaroo. I guess that's kind of a short list compared to usual, but it beat out a great Shpongletron performance at the Valarium that was right up there.

I'd love for them to make a return to the farm in 2012. Their set was one of my favorites in 2009. Anyone else think that they would be a good fit for a late night set?

I think we're more likely to get the Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group. I saw them last March and it was incredible! And Cedric sings for them, for what it's worth.
That's at least 5 songs they didn't play in concert, last year... this album is going to be sick, I have a feeling. 7 of those, I'm certain, we got on the ORLG tour from Spring last year.

worst album title ever. so weird that they are going to promote a new tmv album and play shows wiith atdi at the same time.

they played 7 of them on the tour plus others that didnt make the album. the show was insane here in nyc. i freaked out when i realized it was a volta show. cant wait to hear those songs with studio quality, getting tired of my bootlegs
What the hell do you mean? It's a completely nonsensical portmanteau, just like most of their other albums. If there's one thing the Mars Volta is great at, it's terribly stupid album titles. Well, actually, if there's one thing the Mars Volta is great at, it's making overwrought noise rock that hasn't gotten any better since their second album in 2005. Now, if there's TWO things the Mars Volta is great at, you can throw in the album thing.
