So, it looks like there are a lot of other people here who are also really excited for the White Stripes. I've never seen Jack White in any capacity so this will be an exciting first chance. While I do like the Raconteurs, I prefer the White Stripes by quite a bit.
Anyways, who else is excited for this? It's especially cool because it's their first announced show since White split for the Raconteurs.

this is going to be amazing............... white stripes, raconteurs, anything jack white touches is golden.
i think by the time he is done he will be like clapton (solo, cream, derek and the dominoes, w/ bb king, etc....) and have so many different bands to his name
do not base what you think of the raconteurs on their album (please do not get me wrong, album is sweet) but go and see them live. the group had not been together as a whole unit for too long before that album was released, but if you hear all of those songs now, as they have played together for a little while now, they are mind blowing
jack white is a rock god..... in the 30 years you will see his name right there with john lennon, johhny cash, neil young, jim james, jimmy page, thom yorke, bob marley, jimi hendrix, andre benjamin..... you know- the legends
Yeah, I missed my only chance to see them this year at ACL because they were against String Cheese.
Glad you guys are also excited. Think they'll play an hour and a half or two hours? Of course I'd love something like a late-night set, but I'm thinking more along the lines of opening for the Police like Beck did last year (listed four on lineup.)
The best part is that we won't just get some of their great songs from the past, but also new songs. I'm pretty darn excited, it looks like they play incredible setlists:
The White Stripes Sydney, Australia Hordern January 25, 2006
Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground The Hardest Button to Button When I Hear My Name My Doorbell Wasting My Time Lovesick (B. Dylan) I Think I Smell a Rat Forever For Her Lord, I Just Can't Keep From Crying (T. Johnson) Death Letter (Son House) Do Cannon/Passive Manipulation Instinct Blues (teaser)/The Denial Twist Hotel Yorba Apple Blossom In the Cold, Cold Night Black Math The Big Three Killed My Baby The Nurse Red Rain
ENCORE Blue Orchid I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself (Bacharach/David) We're Going To Be Friends Seven Nation Army Boll Weevil (Trad.)
So I love the lineup and would be bummed about the omission of MMJ, Arcade Fire, MM, Shins, TV on the Radio, etc... but would give up all of them for any Jack White show...and the WS is the best possible result. I thought the Raconteurs might be a possibility but never even dreamed a reunited WSs....I am beyond excited for this.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see Loretta Lynn and/or Brendan Benson for a couple of songs...
p.s. I can always keep my fingers crossed that the bands above will be future adds.
I've seen both The Raconteurs and The White Stripes in concert. As doblejota83 said, Jack White is a Rock God. I can't even believe they were on the list, that was so out of left field. All I have to say is get ready to have your face blown to the back of your skull.
I guess it would have been in '05 (can't believe it has been over a year) that I caught them at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago during their three night run and they really put on a great show. Really cool red/black tropical background and Jack scooted around the huge stage from instrument, to instrument, sweating profusely, but without sacrificing any musicianship

I saw the Raconteurs a few months back and it wins my personal award as one of the top shows of 06. They Killed it! played that Nancy Sinatra song,"my baby shot me down" and Jack was screamin it. Never seen the White Stripes cept on some live dvd's and I was blown away then. Expressing my joy for the White Stripes at Roo is nearly impossiple. allow me to yuyalate............ yelllalalalalallalalallalalalallalalallalalalalalaalalallalalalhhh!!!!

Here's the setlist from the show I was at... Absolutely killed, and the setlist is right up Bonnaroo's alley. I can't wait! ...but notice the set time of 1hr20min....Are the Stripes part of a cool latenight split? Or does the southern appreciation evident on Jack's setlist mean we're in store for some guest apps and a long show??

I was at that same show at The Louisville Palace........man I have never seen anyone rock quite that hard.......but they play VERY short sets.....hopefully this will be their "getting back together" show and they will do something spectacular.

I remember Jack played so hard he went through 5 guitars on the first two songs, strings were breaking right and left.
Me too...they certainly have the catalogue to do it, but I am thinking they are going to be in the Beck slot (as suggested earlier on here)...but I will keep my fingers crossed.

the setlists can be deceiving....they play 24 songs but it still only last 1hr and 15 minutes lol.
yeah but some of the songs fun into each other, some are extended.
Thursday night "headliner" would be awesome, maybe the smaller main stage.
White Stripes but on one of the best shows in this age. Jack can rip that guitar up, I am excited that this will be my 6th time seeing them! The venues keep getting bigger and bigger and bonnarooooooo

The shows in August of 05? I was at the one where we got 2 concerts in 1 night. They played the entire Get behind me album in order then left the stage and came back out for a totally different show. Seemed like it lasted forever it was one of those special live shows.
