ya id say the best way to tell is to look at qbs in the nfl or pro tennis players who have had similar surgery and see how long it was until they could use thier arm for pro sports again. cant think of anyone off my head though.

Happy to see Tool may still play..as far as a replacement Drummer..two words....Josh Freeze... He could step up no problem..and it's not like he hasnt worked with members of Tool before
Four months is a long time and he'll have lots of time to devote to physical therapy
i hear a lot of people saying similar things to this and your argument certainly has merit, but i wonder if we're really comparing apples to oranges here. let's face it, being the drummer for a band like Tool places an -entirely- different set of demands on your body physically than a normal human being does...so even if it takes the average person x amount of time to recover from this kind of surgery, is the average person on stage beating the nuts out of a set of drums for hours a night? if Carey is -anything- less than 100% by then I can't see how they'd take the chance of risking further injury..
I look at it like he's an athlete. He's been a drummer for years and years of his life and his body is very conditioned to do just that. I'm saying that this type of conditioning will make him able to recover FASTER than most people. It took me three months of rehab from an ACL reconstruction when I was 15, while I read stories of college women basketball players that were at the gym the very next day, and working for recovery right away, shooting hoops and running within a month, while I was glad I could just stand on my leg. Not that ACL is like a bicep tear (that really had to hurt), but his good condition beforehand is likely to improve the outcome and likely the speed of his recovery. Not that I know a damn thing.
It's really all speculation. We don't know the specifics of his injury, we don't have any medical practitioner that can give us reasonable expectations or a brief on the situation.
Regardless, hopefully this afternoon we get some artist additions.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
