Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I can only dream for LCD and Mark Ronson...it could work though since the Dap Kings are playing with Sharon Jones and Ronson's done some a bit of work with them....
-and just to throw this out- The Swell Season is the folks from the film "Once". Check out the film for a taste of the tunes...

I agree totally with Eluderino. You can't keep bringing back the EXACT same bands year after year and expect Superfly to sell out every year. You have to change it up. I think its a great lineup first of all!
I'm just hoping and have my fingers crossed for STS9 and of course Franti!!
Speakeasy....you need to get some things straight, my friend. I have been to every Bonnaroo since 2004, and I have loved each and every one of them with all of my heart. I also happen to like heavy music/metal whatever you want to call it. I've seen countless death/black/thrash/whatever metal bands live and have even played in those types of bands, but I don't think I'm an @sshole (in fact most people seem to think I'm a really nice guy). Just because my favorite band is the Flaming Lips doesn't mean I can't enjoy Metallica, Mastodon, The Sword, Emperor, Behemoth, or whatever I think is good, and just because I like those bands doesn't mean I'm an @sshole. Please think before you say such ignorant, shallow things.

i'm gonna wait till the raconteurs new album to drop to decide on them. their first cd was good but not great IMO
i saw the raconteurs at ACL in 06. their live performance is the reason i bought their album. and that album is NAILS, in my opinion. broken boy soldier and blue veins are amazing songs.
i still think last years lineup was better.... regardless, i'm pumped. Pearl Jam...comeon...and i know metallica is a bunch of douchebags...but they are definitely a legendary rock band...and we still got derek trucks, bb king, raconteurs, and willie nelson.... yeah, fa sho, ima get that, fa sho

elduderino, you are making a lot of assumptions about me (and other folks who are not fans about the lineup), and i don't appreciate it.
1) I do listen to death cab. I listen to lots and lots of music.
I don't care if bonnaroo books bands with mainstream success, AS LONG AS THEY PUT ON A DECENT LIVE SHOW, which metallica cannot. Have you ever seen any kind of footage of them live at all, have you ever been to a show? When the "singer" can't "sing" in key, you have an issue.
As far as Metallica's repuatation (napster, etc):
A festival like this is about community and music. There is no band on earth that has done more to DESTROY the connection between artists and fans. You take a festival "scene" that is known for bands who like to do things like let their fans tape the shows and swap them, and give a band that has SUED to stop it from happening. Metallica is all about money. THAT is commercial.
I don't care if successful bands are playing. I encourage it. I like that decent bands are getting success, however moderate or strong. I like that they play festivals.
I'm kind of agreeing with Steve here. I'm worried about that level of adrenaline at the festival.
Tool was someone I've listened to for ages and they are well known for fantastic live shows. Metallica is not known for live shows, and it just seems like they're trying to fill out some formula that isn't really making sense this year. Tool fans are not the same as Metallica fans. And when was Metallica's last album?
I feel like there are bands already on the roster that would be a more suitable headliner than Metallica.

There is just to much info out there saying Zep is on at Bonnaroo. It makes tons of sense that they don't announce it yet. If they did all of us diehards would have alot of trouble getting tickets. The delay is Superfly showing us love I believe. Over 1 million people tried to buy 50,000 tickets to the Zep show in England and I know it will happen on a larger scale here when they announce.
Maybe I am dreaming but it makes alot of sense and AP doesn't make Lez vs Led mistakesor the Chicago sun times or the LA times.

why do all these reliable sources (the NY ap, chicago sun) all say zep is headlining? surely the professionals over there didn't misread lez zep...i'm thinkin superfly is just givin the original rooers a chance to grab tix first, then they will announce zep at a later date. or maybe surprise superjam, idk

I don't like irrelevant money-hungry meatheads.
I guess that makes me close-minded.
I have seen Metallica in the past 5 years and thought they put on a great show, personally... but I understand everyone gets off with different things, so no worries... But do know that just because you didn't get anything from their performance doesn't mean they are always a terrible performer. People told me they thought The White Stripes were offbeat and out of tune at Roo last year and I, as well as my friends and surely others, thought that was one of the best sets of the weekend! Different strokes for different folks...
And I thought that Metallica actually supported the sharing of their live shows?? They only spit on anyone who tries to snag and swap recorded jams... Not saying that I agree with this philosophy, but I think you may have a skewed fact in your argument there... I could be wrong also tho, I'm not 100% sure.
think I'll take a pass this year - last year roo cost in excess of $1500 (plus 3 weeks of the roo flu) - don't feel this lineup is worth that (and I love PJ and MMJ) - I'll take that money and see REM/Modest Mouse and Radiohead on tour

last year, i would have gone to roo for the white stripes alone. this lineup has nothing of that caliber for me.
The Raconteurs aren't of enough caliber but the White Stripes were???
Raconteurs= White Stripes - Meg + The Greenhornes, more or less. Just a thought...
no, the raconteurs don't do anything for me. i like the jack/meg energy. and i saw the greenhornes open for the stripes a couple years ago, and i found them rather boring.
Expecting bands to be about anything other than earning a living is ridiculous. They may have entered the scene because of their love of music, but once it's their livelihood it's what puts food on the table. These are not side jobs for the musicians.
I'm not a fan of metal at all, but I have no beef with Metallica. The whole Napster argument doesn't hold water with me.

Take it easy.
hey don't take it so personal....i too, have been to every roo, and all i'm saying is i like the vibe we as a community have built. the vibe at a "heavy" show is something else. the crowd is different. do you really want moshing at the roo?
My lady read me the line up for coachella and I have to say, it looks way better. There is no way I'm heading out to California. The festival out there just doesn't have what Bonnaroo does. The camping is not the same, I didn't see any VIP packages, oh and there is that earth quake thing they have out that way. So, hopefully there will be some standout additions to get her and I excited about this year. I could always fine a way to have fun, but the lady is not seeing this as worth the money right now. We will have to see if this year is going to happen for us. I told her she has a week to think it over.

if you have not seen the raconteurs live, don't count them out. their live performance is actually what got me into them. i have never been a huge white stripes fan(don't kill me), and i think meg is, at best, an average drummer. the raconteurs bring it hard, and i for one will be there to support them
For a group of people who are supposedly "open-minded" about music, I am frankly shocked to see the rampant closed-mindedness towards music on this thread. It's a little disheartening. I would've thought Bonnaroo would have opened some people's minds (as it has done mine - yes I was a "Give me jam and only jam" kid in 2002, but no longer. Bonnaroo helped change that.)
You're really shocked, man?
I think you and I are on the same page and you've been around here long enough that you surely saw this coming. It has been the same thing for the past three years -- it's people who would let a few acts they don't care for RUIN their Bonnaroo. It's just sad, really.

I feel like the term "closed-minded" has often been mistaken for "not a fan of this band" on here too many times.
If I say "I really hate ________" I'm not being closed minded to them. I'm saying I don't like their music. for example... I hate Lindsey Lohan. I'm not closed minded to girlie pop music. It just makes me want to rip my ears off my head.
Now, if I said "I've never heard of _________ Whatever, they probably suck!" then that would be being closed minded in my opinion

you know, everyone who is so disappointed can be disappointed. Roo isn't about ONE headliner, or even the headliners in general. its about a group of music-loving people who want to share the experience of seeing a favorite band with thousands of other people who love the same band.
its about the experience of meeting new people, being exposed to new music, and just being in such a loving, accepting community for 4 days. leaving Bonnaroo was like coming down off the mountain top. i had to completely readjust when i got back to the "real world". to this day, everyone who knows me knows that Bonnaroo was, and still is, the most amazing weekend of my entire life.
so, you can choose to be disappointed, you can choose to think superfly has sold us all out. i, for one, choose to be elated, excited, and just generally happy about the thought of being back at the farm with all of those who share my love for music. isn't that what we're all supposed to be there for anyway?

I'm just going to go was Lez Zeppelin praying that Plant is gonna jump onstage...granted it's a long shot but hey Bonnaroo has pulled off some crazy shit in the past. I mean it won't be the whole band...but it's better then absolutely nothing.
