How is going to relate to the Roo crowd?
No No word jokes for an hour, or what?
Chris Rock can do much more than racism and stereotype jokes.
While it's not the band additions that I am so eagerly awaiting, I have absolutely no qualms about Chris Rock being added to the line-up. He's hilarious and I'm sure he will be great on the What Stage.
i'm really surprised at all the hate this addition is getting. it is just ONE addition. and he is a comedian. the website says there will be over 100 bands, and by my count there is about 70 bands so far. still more to come.

I'm totally thrilled about this. And the fact he is on the What stage makes it awesome because I will actually get to see a comedian at Roo for once. Screw standing in line for 2 hours. I think it's an awesome addition.
im not sure how i feel, with such crappy headliners i was expecting some big band names, but they still have 4 more months. I trust Bonnaroo so I'm not worried, plus Chris Rock is FUCKING FUNNY

I mean, it's not like they won't announce more bands because they signed Chris Rock. Chill people. Be excellent and the additions will come in due time.

YEEEAAA!!!!
Honestly, this is one of the best additions I could imagine. Rock is going to be hilarious, and noone has to wait in line! Fantastic news. God bless Superfly!
We are proud to announce that legendary comedian Chris Rock will perform at the 2008 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Rock will do a special one-hour set on the What Stage, Bonnaroo's biggest. The audience for this performance will be one of the largest ever for a comedy show! For more information about Chris Rock, click here.
More announcements about the lineup will be made in the coming weeks. Check back soon for more information!
it will be one of the largest crowds for a comedy show by default though because people will be waiting for whatever is on next. I mean dont get me wrong Chris Rock is a pretty funny dude just hopefully his new material is better than his last HBO special because that was some pretty tired shit

^^^I hope that's what they'll do. At the first Bonnaroo back in 02 they had DJ's spinning between sets. Amon Tobin, DJ Z-Trip. That would be a really good idea. With a comedian you could either enjoy it, or still take a break and talk to your friends. And it's true, no way he fits in the tent.

I don't really consider this an "artist addition." I wouldn't even consider this the first round of artist additions. just an added attraction. Personally, I can't wait!

To all the haters out there, RELAX. This IS a musical addition. I personally can't wait to see him and a band perform his hit song "No sex in the champagne room". See for yourselves...

I'm really excited that Chris Rock was added. Sure, they didn't release anymore bands yet, but they will soon. And really, for those complaining- it's and hour set out of your 4 days at roo, it's not going to kill you to be entertained by CHRIS ROCK of all people in between music sets.
To all the haters out there, RELAX. This IS a musical edition. I personally can't wait to see him and a band perform his hit song "No sex in the champagne room". See for yourselves...

I'm having a hard time accepting the fact that people are complaining about Chris Rock. Some of you are just spoiled.
Surely there's one band or comedian that you don't want to see at Roo... does that make you spoiled as well?? I'm having a hard time accepting your logic...

I can see where the poster is coming from. It's just one addition and people are all up in arms complaining about Chris Rock being added because they want bands. I can understand that, but it's not as if there won't be more bands announced soon. I think everyone should just accept it and move on. An announcement like this is certainly not deserving of all the harsh criticism being heaped on to it.
But hey, I'm just one guy. Sorry if I got anyone's panties in a bunch.

No one is mad the Chris Rock is going to be at Bonnaroo. Do you see anyone saying, "Chris Rock? He sucks! He doesn't belong at Bonnaroo"? No, you don't. No one is complaining about Chris Rock. People are complaining because this is the time of year we usually get an artist addition (that contains MUSIC); and this year, more than ever, we need a good addition to counter the strong line-ups of other festivals.
I will buy my ticket for Bonnaroo on Saturday no matter what; but I have a lot of friends who are seriously weighing other festivals. A good artist addition might have swayed them, but Chris Rock is not going to convince many people to go to Bonnaroo. We know that more bands will be announced soon, and that's why there is frustration . . . because they chose to announce a comedian instead of music.
Honestly, seeing Chris Rock as an addition helped convince me to do Bonnaroo over Rothbury
Think about it..Rothbury probably wont get many big additions. Bonnaroo will. This is just the first of several and its a HUGE name. Even if it isn't a musician.

You really shouldn't expect any additions til at least next tuesday. They usually don't do additions but every 2 to 3 weeks. I think Chris rock was just an early added bonus.
so in my opinion, everyone should be like... "OH. hey look, everybody. They added Chris Rock. that's pretty cool." instead of... "Why the f*ck didn't they give us more bands since it's only a week after the initial lineup came out.?
just my opinion.
don't take my karma away because i don't have much left and i just don't know how i would continue on without it.

I know how often they do additions, thanks. In fact, that's the problem. In years past we have gotten a round of additions which contained bands before tickets went on sale. For at least the past two years we have gotten additional bands within a week of the initial announcement, so I think its perfectly reasonable to ask why we got the addition of a comedian, and not music.
So, if Chris Rock really was an "added bonus" then we are all correct in our demands for a round of artist additions.
