The Allman Brothers Band has cancelled its upcoming performance at the Wanee Festival and postponed its annual run of shows at New York’s Beacon Theater. Gregg Allman was recently diagnosed with Hepatitis C and has spent the past six months receiving treatments for the virus. Though the treatments have been successful so far, and the virus has been eradicated from his system, his recovery from the side effects of the treatment is taking longer than originally projected.
"I'm getting better but I'm still tired," Allman said in a statement. "I need to be at 110% to do the shows the way we do them. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support and understanding my Brothers and our fans have given me."
The Wanee Festival will take place as planned, with Gov't Mule, Bob Weir & Ratdog, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival, moe. and Levon Helm still scheduled to appear. As of press time, the Allman Brothers Band still plans to hit the road in August and will likely play the Beacon this fall. There is currently no word on the group’s scheduled appearance at Bonnaroo.

thats too close to Bonnaroo though
but see, the shows at the beacon are like.. 20 shows in a row..i could see why greg wouldnt be up for the Beacon run (man this has GOT to dissapoint quite a few people, im sooo bummed about this) - so greg could be fine for roo..considering its just a one off, and that they WONT be doing the beacon dates ( ) - i think its a bit pre-emptive to get TOOO worried bout the roo shows being cancelled.. IMO.
I'm a fan and even I will admit that the last time I saw them they seemed tired. Maybe it's time for Gregg to just rest. He really seemed like an old man...it made me sad.
