i think he told him to stay on course cause of the fact that that rocket or whatever took an extra 31 minutes to get there than it should have. if he gets off course, who knows how long it could take him to get back on course. i guess hes just saying, this is no time to take risks.

Ok. so I watched the episode again. A few things. I think that Daniel told the pilot guy to stay on course because of the whole electromagnetic interference that the island has. It's what made flight 815 crash to begin with. I think you have to stay on a direct path in order to make it off the island without crashing. It's the same thing that Michael was told when he left on the boat.
The smoke monster is definitely connected to Jacob. Whoever he is. When Locke was looking for the cabin, they found that trail of what looks like gun powder but I think it's actually ash. It's the trail that the smoke monster leaves behind. I still have no idea what any of this has to do with anything.
Lastly, I keep getting the feeling that at the end of the entire show, that we're gonna like Ben. That we're gonna believe that what he's doing is right. And that the old Dharma people are the evil ones. That rocket thing is obviously some sort of delivery mechanism that they were giving a trial run for. Probably some sort of gas, like the others did to kill the Dharma people way back when.
I keep wanting to see that dude from the show Wings. The one that doesn't seem to age. I somehow think that he's connected with Dharma. I dunno. Maybe he's nothing. But he seems like a major player, and I'm surprised not to have seen him or any of the others in the new episodes. I think we will soon enough.
And I still think that Michael is Ben's man on the boat. I love this show.
wait a second?!?! dan said, "i wouldn't say it's our primary objective" right? during the instructual movies, with the asian guy from dharma, wasn't the line "this is your primary objective" used a bunch?
^^^^^ THAT MAKES SENSE, and i completely forgot about michael, what a perfect way to reintroduce him to the show, and i dont think desmond has ever met michael has he?!
I think (hope) Locke is in the one in the coffin. I think by the end, he's pissed everyone off, which is why nobody but Jack shows up. And the reason crazy messed up future Jack shows up is tell John's dead corpse that he was right about not leaving the island.
eat your words much?! ;D jk, i thought the same thing first episode of this season...
why would i eat my words? ben in the coffin is a valid point. just because we saw him in the "future" doesn't mean he doesn't die. maybe ben's "future" is before crazy jack's "future"?

Just like crazy Hurley's future was before crazy Jack's future.

For the record, after what Sawyer said last night ("I've got nothing to live for back in the real world"), I'm thinking it's Sawyer in the coffin. That's why Jack was so surprised that Kate didn't go to the service... she was the only thing Sawyer ever really, truly cared about.... enough so that he'd go back to a meaningless life in the real world to be with her...

very good point indeed.
But, why would Jack want to jump off a bridge after reading about Sawyer's death? Especially if Sawyer was with Kate? It's got to be someone who Jack thought would provide a chance to return to the island. Ben or Locke?

Plus, in that episode, when Jack was reading about that person's death in the paper, while he was on the plane, it said "New York man killed", or something like that. And also when Jack and Kate met up in that episode, Kate said something like she needed to get back him, cause he'll be wondering where she is. I've been wondering who that him is since I saw that. It could be Sawyer, or it could be that she has a child, or it could just be some guy. You can never underestimate how far the creators will go with misdirection. It's so frustrating, yet so great.
whats the deal with the bracelets??!
It's just to show that Naomi and the other chick, in the flash-forward, both work for the same people, methinks.
