The island is the 1st "door" to a time machine built by the darhma initiave. The others are the ones "controlling the experiment" The flash forwards are actually the present. Locke can walk because the time the island is in was before his paralizing injury.

its a good theory. but, where do the survivors tie in? like, obvi they don't want them to know about this "time machine" but if that was the case, wouldn't they just have had them rescued from the start instead of trying to avoid them from getting off the island?
flight 815 accidently hit the "bubble" and crashed. thats why naomi said they were dead and found the wreckage. they are dead in that line of the present but live on the island. when they get off the island they are still alive because it was before the crash.
Then what's the deal with Dharma? Why is there this ongoing "war" between the Dharma people and The Others? Your theory makes alot of sense. I know there's got to be some sort of crazy time bubble thing going on on the island, hence the electromagnetic interference, and desmond's flashbacks, and them finding polar bear remains in Egypt, the one Other guy from Wings that never ages, and etc etc. I guess I think there's something bigger going on than just a time machine experiment. I think Dharma controls the world
Ben is a trator and i believe this war is against him. that i think is why ben works the way does (master manipulator) but i am stil working on this one

i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.
wow i don't think i have ever watched this show before....
i'm totally missing out. i want to start from the beginning, but i think i'd just be toooo far behind at this point.

you can catch up! believe me. over my winter break i took down the first 3 season in a week. yes, i was deathly ill and wasn't leaving my bed... so my only choice was to sleep or watch tv, but i did it. and i'm fully addicted now.
My husband used to work nights so I would watch during the season, he would get the DVD series when it was over and could catch up in a week. Right now we are watching Season 4 on Thursdays and watching Season 3 on weekends.
I wish the DVDs didn't break between episodes and it was like one long movie. That would be fabu! But the DVDs don't have commercials, you can end it before the credits and there are TONS of extras. I am loaning out my Season 1 and 2 to a coworker I have converted to the Lost Dark Side
