Man that episode was awesome!! I don't really think Ben is "bad." He just wants the island to remain a secret and will do absolutely anything to prevent it from being exploited. I want to find out what Widmore's connection with the Dharma Initiative is, if there is one.

No kidding! We started keeping track of how long between commercials, but by the time we started paying attention, it was the second half, and they weren't putting them so close together. I think they planned it that way. They stuffed a whole bunch in until they figured people would start noticing, then they spread them out a little bit (but not enough to make up for all the ones in the first half)!
I keep getting the feeling that at the end of the entire show, that we're gonna like Ben. That we're gonna believe that what he's doing is right. And that the old Dharma people are the evil ones.
I still stand by this. It's already happening.
One cool thing I noticed about this recent episode was that they were pretty forward about Ben traveling through time in his flash forward. He just suddenly wakes up in the Sahara with a warm coat on. So there's definitely other "portals" to enter other than on the island, to make these time leaps.
Yes, time travel is obvious now. And Ben "controls" the smoke monster. Ben can not kill Widmore, why? And what rule did he break in killing his daughter? I liked seeing Sawyer take up for Hurly.

They had to have made a deal with each other at some point in time. I think Ben had to have worked for him in some capacity. If we know one thing, Ben is a man of his word, so he probably gave his word that he'd never kill him.

yea you noticed exactly what i did. very obvious time travel. i thought about that movie Jumper (which sucked) and how people were 'after' the jumpers...last nights ep kinda made me think about that.
I can't believe no one has commented on the newest episode yet. I know it wasn't that great of an episode. Didn't learn much of anything new. The big question is, is this the last we see of Claire?

hullo people, I only just realized that this thread existed, but I'm excited that so many people here are into LOST!
I thought this week's episode was pretty weak, though. It just seemed like every plotline had been done. OH NO! Somebody needs surgery and we have crappy facilities! OH NO! Claire has disappeared! OH NO! Christian Shepherd is appearing from beyond the grave! AND DEAR GOD WHO DOES KATE LOVE THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW.
Just found this thread!!! I'm completely addicted to this show, since the first season, I've watched almost every episode on its premiere night. I make plans around Thursday nights, as sad as that is...
I agree that last week's episode was pretty weak. It really irritated me how they made it seem that Jack might die (which I personally wouldn't mind, he gets on my nerves) when we obviously knew that he would not. I was complaining to a Lostbuddy about the weakness of this episode, and he made a good point: it may seem weak to us at this point but they are cramming 8 episodes-worth of matieral into five. Everything is most likely important, whether we realize it now or not.
Anyone else find it interesting that it seems Miles saw Christian Shepard as plainly as Claire?? And the fact that he actually understands what the "whispers" are saying?
Well, yes, obviously Miles is there to communicate with the dead... otherwise, he'd have absolutely no purpose., sort of like Charlotte (at this point at least-- she claims to be a scientist but I have yet to see her do anything but get on my nerves) We've been presented with the idea that the "whispers" can be understood. Many of the Losties on the island can hear them, so are they the whispers of the dead or something else entirely?
I never really gave the whispers much thought. Interesting idea that they're whispers from the dead. I really hope they explain something tonight. Just give me something.

Jacob wants Locke to move the island? wtf? I suspected that this was possible, but I never thought the writers would have the guts to actually do that. Man, my brain is sufficiently f'd.
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...
Dude, that was pretty heavy stuff. Move it, you think, or hide it????
On a side note, I've been a supporter of Locke's all along.... my friends have dogged on him since he turned "crazy", as they say. It's my opinion that he holds the key to figuring all of this island/mystery stuff out. With Desmond and Walt's help, that is. Those three are the most important characters on the whole show, I think....

I think moving and hiding it are pretty much the same thing considering that once it's moved, the bearings they've been using to find it will be off. . .

Locke is certainly an interesting character--considering he's been "special" all along but has been able have a self outside of what Richard had planned for him--something's got to be said for his ability to evade, or at least prolong his relationship with Richard et al.
As far as the most important characters on the show, I certainly think Christian Sheppard should be included in that listing. . .And now there's Abaddon making all these seemingly random appearances, I gotta think he belongs in that list somewhere, too.

I think the "Christian" that we're seeing isn't the real thing. The producers have said in the past that he is indeed dead, so I'm guessing that it's "Jacob" sort of channeling through his body. I also think he's used Mr. Eko's brother, Yemi, before for the same purpose. The Abaddon guy just works for the Others, like Richard Alpert (who, on a side note, is absolutely YUMMY to look at). I dont know if I'd consider Abaddon any more important than Richard.
I truly like Locke. I like most everyone, I even liked Mr. Friendly (Tom). But, I cannot stand Jack or Juliette. I would not be one bit upset if either of them died.
