Tomorrow's episode is #100! And as Airline said, it's Faraday-centric. It's supposed to be the companion episode to "The Constant" from last season. I'm pretty pumped for it!

I thought it was a good episode but I dont like how they handeled Faradays character. I thought he would have some greater meaning to the series but in the end he didnt end up being that important, he was basically just there to set things up for the next 2 episodes.
I wouldve traded em honestly. Desmond just does the same thing over and over. "I promised ya Penny" ect. I like him, but the only characters cooler than Faraday imo are Sayid, Sawyer, and occasionaly Ben. Locke suffers from delusions of grandeur that just make him smug to me sometimes.

They aren't delusions if they're true.
I both liked the episode and was annoyed by it. Faraday tells everyone they can't change the past, then comes back to say he was wrong and they can, a conclusion he came to by just figuring out humans were a variable? He's seeming like alot less of a genius to me now.
The part of the preview where Jack is saying all they have to do is follow the instructions in Daniel's notebook sounds like lame writing to me, too. Faraday wouldn't have written step by step instructions understandable to boring egomaniacal doctors and pointless eye candy girls, he would have written complicated equations that he and maybe a few other physicists could understand. And if his mom knew he was going to be there, she also knows Kate and Jack are hiding ten feet away. It doesn't make sense that she wouldn't kill them, too.
And as usual, Kate and Jack pissed me off. When you are stealing guns, you don't stand there and load and check them at the theft point and give people the chance to catch you in the act. Grab them and go, you can do that crap in the car after you're safely away. Duh. These are the brainiacs who are supposed to be able to understand Daniel's notebook? Pffft.

I think he was saying that THEY(Jack, Kate, and himself) were the variables. Because they know the score and can try and change it. Not that it really matters.
I just hope these next last episodes of the season aren't some lame f*ckabout with Jack trying to save the day by blowing up The Swan and whatever else.
Jack can be the hero by trying to get everyone back into the same time. That works for me. Him and Locke working on both ends. That would make sense. Jack following Faraday's failed vision of blowing up The Swan is not what I want to see. I'm afraid that, in some way though, that's how they're supposed to get back to "real" time.
I'm also sure now that "What lies in the shadow of the statue" is the H-Bomb.

Yeah, you called it from the beginning on the shadow of the statue thing. Nice job.
I don't know, this episode seemed like it had a little too much breaking down of the show's internal logic (such as it is) to me and has me worried about the end just being stupid. Or maybe I'm just tired and being cranky and overly demanding of a TV show.

About Jack and Kate "decoding" Faraday's lab book, I agree. Lame. If Jack says " I took a little Calculus in college..." I'm gonna puke.
As far as Ellie knowing Jack and Kate were ten feet away, she wouldn't. This is happening for the first time for her. Her actions since this moment have led Daniel back all originated from that moment in 1977. But at this point, I assume she has no idea about time travel and will need Jack and Kate to actually convince her that Daniel was indeed her son.
Something that makes me excited about the end of this season is we really don't know what is going to happen. And how they are gonna set up for season 6. Last season we knew 6 of them made it off the island. The only real suspense was seeing how they got off. But we knew they would. This time around it's all up in the air.

Oh yeah. That's right. Oops.
I think Ellie knows alot more about the time thing and did from a pretty early time, though. She didn't even bat an eye when Daniel said he was her son who she had sent from the future just so she could kill him. She told Penny it had been I forget how long since she hadn't known what was going to happen. She may have been bopping around time for decades for all we know. I'm curious to know exactly what her endgame is and just what she has been up to for the last thirty years or so.
I thought it was a pretty great episode. They pretty much explained exactly why and how the original plane crashed on the island. They answered a ton of questions. Now they just have to work on explaining the statue, hostiles, Black Rock, and origin of the Island.
I'm not sure that Jack and/or Kate will be the ones to stop the Swan hatch incident... I think it will be Hurley. My logic is that Kate and Jack were both pretty miserable and f*cked if Flight 815 had landed in LA like it was supposed to. Why would they want to go back to that life? They had nothing there waiting for them besides a lot of misery.
I've said this before, but I think that Jack has realized that the Island may be the best thing that ever happened to him. I don't think Kate has realized it yet, but she will.
Hurley, on the other hand, sees this as an opportunity to correct his original mistake: playing the numbers in the lottery. You can see it in his eyes in episode two weeks ago. If the hatch is destroyed, the serial numbers on the hatch door will never become important. This may be flawed logic but it makes sense in my mind
^^my thoughts exactly. Especially Kate. Why in the hell would she want to go back? She was handcuffed to a Marshal, on her way to prison. The only reason she got off, was because she was an Oceanic 6 survivor and had Jack to testify for her. Without that, freckles goes to jail.

I don't think there is any way the hatch can be destroyed. If it is and the plane landed as usual then everything we have seen so far never happened? I feel like that would be too easy a way for the writers to get out of all this time travel, whatever happens happens bullcrap. So they just erase everything? If that happens I will be irate. As far as Faraday's death...I didn't get it either. His whole purpose was to bring Kate and Jack to Ellie? If that is true it seems like a big waste of time. I think something else might get revealed about why Ellie had to send him back to be killed. Other things in the episode definately solidified some of my theories regarding Charles and Ellie. I am guessing we get an Ellie centric episode soon, which will be great.
Also, one more thing. Anyone catch Juliet basically telling Kate to get the F*** out when they were in the house. She saw the way Sawyer looked at Kate and then told Kate exactly where to take Daniel. I thought that was awesome. I like Juliet mutch better than Kate. She is a realist with the situations they face, and Kate is not.

I agree, I think Hurley definitely believes that. I think he's wrong, it seems like the numbers have some kind of mystical significance wherever they are used and that it didn't start with the hatch. But you're right, Hurley's eyes were all aglow with purpose as soon as he saw the hatch.
I was wondering why Jack seemed all gung ho in the previews to put Daniel's plans into action when his life was not so great before the island. And it makes no sense for Kate to want to change things. Plus erasing the whole event means they erase the people they have become, and they've all grown in ways. That idea freaks me out, that they won't just be changing events, they'll be erasing who they are now to become who they were then. Creepy!
That episode did answer how they got to be there, but it didn't explain to me why they are there and why a group of people who all have connections to each other should all end up in the situation together. It gave us means but not motive and I'm much more curious about motive. The main character, the island, is still a complete mystery.
"In most subsequent depictions, Taweret was depicted with features of a pregnant woman. In a composite addition to the animal-compound she was also seen with pendulous breasts, a full pregnant abdomen, and long, straight human hair on her head. As a protector, she often was shown with one arm resting on the sa symbol, which symbolized protection, and on occasion she carried an ankh, the symbol of life, or a knife, which would be used to threaten evil spirits."
That is the season 5 promo shot. Supposedly there are clues hidden in the picture. Well Faradays left foot is clearly missing in the picture. Could this have something to do with the statue and the Left foot that remains in the future?
^^ Looks liek Sun has on her ass-kicking boots, very appropriate! And before anyone else says it, I'll say it first: John Locke's head looks huge! I claim it's a photoshop error
I'm certain The Incident is going to happen no matter what, or who, tries to prevent it. I don't think the writers will get away with erasing everything; they are quite aware of how many fans the show has and I don't think they would disappoint us with something stupid... I mean, they aren't the Heroes writers! But once again, there's no way we'll all be satisified with the ending of the show, no matter how cool they make it.
There is no way thats a photoshop error. You can clearly see Faradays pant leg which you shouldnt be able to see if there was ever a foot. Also after looking again Juliette is missing the tip of her left foot. Also on her you can see the palm blades over her foot.
So maybe the "clues" have to do with their feet? I did a quick analysis (I'm bored today at work, if you can't tell): No feet showing: Locke, Jack, Sawyer, Desmond Both Feet obscured/missing: Sayid, Charlotte Left Foot obscured/missing: Farady, Juliet, Hurley, Sun Right Foot obscured/missing: Kate, Miles
Ben is the only one who's feet we can see both of. Hmmm.....
