I looked at last night epi as a throw away episode. It added nothing to the ongoing story line. Now if Paulo and Nikki somehow survive being buried alive and get out of the grave, then it might mean something, but if they are really dead, then what was the purpose of the episode last night????
It was just one long flashback.
Paulo and Nikkie have never been major characters except when they went with Eko and Locke to find the hatch with the TVs.
As Sawyer said last night, Who the hell is Nikkie???

I think this episode was important for two reasons:
1) The medusa spider is coming back and is going to be important for some reason later. Are the Others harvesting the venom for some unknown reason? Why all these new species?
2) It reminded us of a comment made by Eko to Locke before he died which now has new significance.
"You're next."
My thoughts... Eko didn't mean "you're next to die." Eko meant "John Locke, you're the next leader of this island." The next Jacob.
Another interesting tidbit was in the flashback where Ben and the blond Other lady(I can never remember her name) were in the TV hatch, watching Jack and discussing getting him for Ben's surgery.
There were some interesting parts that may be important later, but as far as the overall storyline goes, it's probably not gonna mean much.
Sawyer's "who the hell is Nikki?" line was classic. It's exactly what I was thinking.
I thought the very beginning was funny too. When they were talking about offing Nikki's character and then bringing her back somehow, with bulletproof breasts.

I don't know about this one. Deadly spiders, a diamond heist and randomly expendable "extras" being buried alive? I know that the ratings are down but, this seems kind of goofy to me. I was just starting to really dig it again.Hopefully they'll get back on track next week. Maybe it will all work out later but, for now....i'm pretty bummed.
not what i was hoping for after last week, but like someone said earlier in the posts somewhere that probably be rotating one week others one week island.
1) Sawyer now has an Other walkie-talkie 2) Right before the Medusa spiders appear, you can hear the clicking of the smoke monster.
This feeds into my belief that the smoke monster creates manifestations of whatever is in each characters mind(Jack's dad, Kate's horse, Eko's brother).
Other than that it was kind of cool to see the events of the island from a different perspective. Glad to see Nikki and Paulo dead too. NO MORE NEW SURVIVORS!
WOW. Great episode. Locke's gone now. I wonder if the next time we see him he'll be like Marlon Brando's character in Apocalypse Now
Everytime they have a sh!tty episode, like last week's, they always come back with something solid. It just amazes me the layer upon layers of connections that they keep laying. I've gotta say that I'm surprised that they didn't take Jack, cause I was kinda thinking that he's gotta be on their "list". I guess not. Or he could be if Juliette is actually sent to be a spy, which I'm thinking she is. Sayid is rarely wrong and he doesn't trust her. I don't like that there's gonna be all the drama with the Juliette/Jack/Kate love triangle thing going on in the last episodes. What's a boy to do? 3 some Jack. 3 some
Other random thoughts......Sawyer's got a kid. I'm certain now that Dharma = Karma and that they are the equalizer in the world to a certain extent. That amongst many OTHER things. The smoke monster rules. And so does Kate. She can kick my ass anytime
yeah she's obviously lying and manipulating Jack. I mean she had the key on her the whole time with Kate. She's a liar, and I bet this is the deal she made with Ben to even things out for her earlier betrayal.

Sayid is the smartest one on the island, he is definately gonna hurt Juliette a little. I hate that lady, she is so smug and i was glad Kate kicker her ass, even though kate is a lying lamer herself. I am soooo hoping that next episode shows what locke is gonna do to tied-up daddy. Is it just another type of manifestation or do you guys think its his real dad? man oh man, any tall buildings on the island? sure would like to see some locke revenge.
Remember Ben telling Locke that there's a box where, whatever you desire to be there it will be. Not sure if that's what that was or if they actually have his dad.
I'm very intrigued about this "list" The Others have. Locke's on the list and I think Jack is too. They want both of them. Jack seems to like to play along though, and I don't think he has any intention of "joining" them, but Juliette is his weak spot. I think Juliette is definitely spying for them, and she's gonna use Jack and his clout, to make Kate and Sayid seem crazy for not trusting Juliette. They are a clever bunch, those bastards.
Locke has gone to the OTHER side. I don't believe Juliette is what you think. She is one of them only to survive. And what the hell is with that smoke monster?

There's more to Juliette than we know so far. Remember how she took out Kate with the pool cue? How does a lab doc get super-human reflexes like that??
Smoke monster.... my guess is that has something to do with the original Dharma project members... maybe some sort of psychic gestalt gone crazy... when it hit that fence last night, anyone else get flashbacks of Forbidden Planet?

Yes, and from what I've heard, the writers have the end written all ready. So they do know where they're going, they just don't want to get there too quickly. Which explains why we get so many "throw away" episodes. I'm guessing 2 or 3 more seasons after this one. I think they can do 3 more. Any more than that, and it may go downhill pretty fast.
Thanks, I thought I heard that the end was written. I just couldn't imagine them ending it this season. Plus I am HOOKED on the show. I don't like any interruptions for that hour. I usually let the answer machine pick up, etc. Glad to hear it won't end this year.
