Here is what I'm trying to understand. How do these two facts go together? The smoke monster being the island's defense system and being summoned by Ben who is leader of the others, but the Others take orders from Jacob. How in the hell would Jacob or the smoke monster be cool with the other guy help running things when they're enemies?
I get the feeling that the others have been taking orders from esau for quite a while, since Widmore was leader perhaps. And that Jacob has been on another mission.

haha, I wouldn't exactly call myself an uberfan. It's more like "I have nothing better to do and I have all five seasons, I should rewatch them all". I'm sort of a dork... and a loser.

I def think Jacob is the "bad guy" in all of this. This season will be very interesting.
I've thought about this too. If only for the reason that I don't want the real John Locke to have died in vain, or for the reason of evil.
I don't know what to make of the Lost Supper pics. I'm not religious and the last time I was forced to go to church was years ago so it's kinda hard for me to interpret. If Jon Locke is in the Jesus position then I want to think he's good and Jacob's bad unless they're doing some New World Order type of thing.
I was just flipping through the channels and saw little Boone on Law and Order:SVU. I saw a picture of facial hairless Naveen Andrews and Detective Benson filming an episode awhile ago but I don't know when that one airs/if it already did.
Thats the main theory thats been going around for a while. The only thing that's weird is Locke's body is there on the beach and Christians and Yemi's appear to be stolen.
Saw this theory on the LOST facebook page (posted by a fan), thought it was interesting:
"The man in black was the man bound in the rocking chair when Ben took Jacob to the cabin (you have to be a real nerd no offense and pause the DVR or DVD and rewind till you reach a certain point and you see someone in the chair) I think this man in black can mirror and copy any body (and memory in it) that isn't buried... (hence the others rule to bury all bodies)..."

lol^^. A bar in town who has shows is putting the Lost premiere up on their big screen. It'll be nice to watch it with other fans and to have an ice cold beer in my hands.

Yeah, but NIN, Beasties, Byrne, Wilco were a surprise to me last year even though we already knew Phish and Bruce. There are gonna be more headline quality names than KOL and DMB.

There's a guy in the new background picture that reminds me of Bernard. He's slightly right of center, an older gentleman, wearing a hat with a bandana around his neck and sunglasses hanging from his collar.
ok. so. i've finished rewatching season 5 and here is where i stand: (please bear with me, i'm still working out all my theories)
i used to think that the whole idea was going to pan out that there were multiple time loops going on, with mulitples of everybody.
after seeing that last supper picture and rewatching everything i now heavily believe that the whole thing is all mirroring a christian game of cat and mouse between jesus (jacob) and the devil (whoever that bearded guy is, i don't know his name...esau??). the true major players are only jacob and this bearded man, every other single person is simply the result of the bearded man trying to find the loophole to kill jacob (jesus). he is forced to find the loophole b/c the devil can't actually kill jesus. but he could get his 'followers' to do it (which is what happened to the real jesus).
at first i couldn't figure out why 'jacob' was appearing to all these people as different forms on the island (claire, jack's dad etc. in the end finally appearing as locke) but as always himself off the island. now, i do NOT think that was jacob being all those people on the island (claire, jack's dad), i think that was the bearded man pretending. i believe now that this is part of his (the bearded man) playing the game to get the 'pawns' back to the island where the events can follow so that he can find the loophole. this loophole ends up being that he is able to convince ben to kill jacob when he is in the form of locke (ben being freaked out by the 'smoke monster' who was actually the bearded man taking another form, alex his daughter, who says he has to do everything 'locke (aka bearded man as locke)' says).
i think in this scenario ben is a judas character. who in the end says, 'what about me?' and takes action of out jealousy and self-doubt as judas did with jesus in the bible.
i think that the people who were aboard the second plane that ended up on the island (alena and team) are part of the whole idea/family of the 'others' who are lead by richard, who is a disciple of jacob (jesus). they bring the body of locke to richard to prove that locke is really dead and the other is a fake.
i also wondered why jacob visited each of the original oceanic flight members at different times of their lives (some old, some young). i think maybe this was b/c he knew he needed to influence their lives all at a certain point to get them back to the island.
then i was asking why would jacob (jesus) want to bring them back to the island to let things play out like the bad bearded man, when that is what he wanted too. in the end i believe its what he said when they were on the beach and saw the black rock ship (everything until the end is progress, and that he believed in the good, which is supposedly what the real jesus would believe i guess).
so there you go. that's it for now, and there are a lot more ins and outs that i have written down but i think that's long enough. ;D

^^uh, me too. Personally, I think it's more of a battle between Good and Evil with some biblical and mythological references. Now I just don't know which side is "good" and which side is "evil". Perhaps neither really exist? Maybe they just want to show that there's some good and evil in everything/everyone.

i actually agree with what the two of you have said...this theory could be applied with almost any religious view point (we all remember the myths of the games the gods of olympus played with humans). i simply used the christian viewpoint, as that's the one the majority will probably be familiar with.
i don't think they will ever openly admit what the 'true theory' behind LOST is, i think in the end a lot of it will be up to our interpretation.
bahahahahaha.i like the 'lost' shelter at the end.
booooo on you kevin. you're just jealous cause you ain't cool.
also, i forgot to mention that i DO think there is a 'wrinkle in time' if you will. that the devil/jesus characters use to go back over and over again to try to kill each other.

FWIW, I paused that video and went to Wikipedia to see if the ones purported to be "Lost producers" actually were... seems like it.
And I don't know if you could call me jealous... my friend tried inducting me into your cult with a Pop Up Video-esque season one in review episode a few years ago. It didn't grab me like it has some of you.
