In 1991(or '92) a friend of mine won tickets to a concert at one of the best venues in Knoxville (The Bijou). I had never really cared for the band all that much, but I did recognize their "legendary" status. I went, expecting to broaden my horizons with some classic, old-school punk. What I saw was the worst concert of my life (& I used to be into Death Metal). I understood what they "did" and I knew that they were no longer in their "prime", but it was like watching card-board cut-outs...but worse! These guys had an odd combination of immobility and "crotch-rock ego" that still confuses me today. They effortlessly banged-out every wrong note of many songs I could barely recognize! I've seen better performances from animatronic bears at kiddie-pizza-places. It was absolutely awful! It was the only concert that I ever attended, that I regret! It was.... The Ramones
Any similar stories?

Sugar Ray at the free college fest in Philly There were other good bands there. 2 Skinny J's and Public Enemy were there, but Sugar Ray could not have sucked more balls.

Are you positive that you didnt enter the show expecting something?
Smart-assed answer: I expected competent musicians. Realistic answer: I just expected something/anything that backed-up all the hype. It was truly AWFUL!

When I saw Mates of State it was probably the worst sound I've heard live, but it was a festival so I was able to run off. In terms of biggest let-down, I think Death Cab would be up there, they were just so very boring.

1995 David Bowie show. He played with NIN and they rocked But Bowie sucked big ass
Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. I saw that at Nissan Pavillion in VA and yes David Bowie is about the worst live show I have seen. NIN totally rocked.
I also saw Neil Young about 10 years ago at the same venue and I left early because I just was not enjoying the show.

I think the worst show i've seen is Trey latenight 05'. I was just not feeling it, and unfortunatly i went to sleep after about 20 minutes of trey and missed the secret machines.

Everlast at a Smokin Grooves tour years back. Nobody around me could figure out who it was until he played that song from the radio at the end. It sounded terrible, not that I was expecting anything more.

I remember like 9 or so years ago my sister had free tickets to Kid Rock at the United Center. Having only been to a couple concerts before that I said yeah sure why not. From the minute we got to our free seats which as far high as you can get and add to that it was a Kid Rock show....... I couldn't leave because my sis was huge into Kid Rock and I was too young to have drove at the time so I endured every painful moment of that show. It's shows like this that make me really appreciate Bonnaroo.
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."

A few years ago I worked at a little club in Knoxville. When a friend of mine found-out that Everlast was scheduled to play a show there, he freaked! I never liked House Of Pain, much less Everlast solo, but I told my friend that i'd get him backstage on the night of the show. About an hour before his set, I tried to introduce the two of them. After Paul(my friend) said something like "Oh my god man, i'm so glad that I got the chance to meet you! I've loved your music since I first heard 'jump-around...' ", Everlast just said "whatever" and looked at Paul's outstretched hand with total disgust, rolled his eyes and walked off. This has-been jackass should have just been greatful that their were still any people left who gave a damn about his no-talent ass, but instead he acted like some snotty diva being harassed by the paparazzi. F*ck him...F*ck him directly in the ear!
I went to see Steve Miller Band a few years back and was really excited....but then once it started the excitement left because it was just really bad. It seemed that Steve really didn't care anymore and he was just playing because he was Steve Miller. It took me awhile afterwards to be able to listen to his music after that which was a shame.

I agree. I saw them, probably the same tour and it was just abysmal.
Marilyn Manson opening up for NIN in 96 or 97 in Denver at McNichols. Just complete crap. I had never heard of them prior to this and never bothered to hear them later because of it.

In my defense, it was free, but the worst concert I've ever seen was Tone Loc and C+C Music Factory. God awful!
I've never seen Tone Loc, but I have seen C+C once. I worked in this little club in Knoxville (where the whole Everlast thing happened) in the mid '90s and they "played" there once. It was awful/sad/comical, but light-years more impressive than LaBouche (Biggest *ssholes EVER!)! I didn't mention these "concerts" earlier because it really never occured to me. I guess I never considered them actual concerts...But they SUCKED!
I've got another really bad one that was also free. I saw Crystal Waters....she was opening for PM Dawn (who were alot of fun) and Coolio. She was awful too. Surprisingly I really enjoyed DJ Easy Rock and Rob Base.
Oh, I totally forgot about all the christian groups that I've seen. DC Talk, Newsboys, Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W Smith. Yeah, scratch Sugar Ray, these were all the worst.
I've too have seen alot of Christian bands in my day, Supertons, DC Talk, Newsboys, Jars of Clay, etc...
Nice. Yeah, I used to like the Supertones, and Jars of Clay sound pretty good live. Have you ever been to Creation? The Christian music festival. That's where I got most of my fill of those bands. Although I did see DC Talk and Newsboys at my future high school back in 92 or 93. I got DC Talk's autographs I was super cool back then. And I somehow still manage to be
didnt dc talk do that awesome song that sounded like gangsta rap. but instead of saying 40 and a blunt they said "dont need no 40 and a blunt" im just wondering because and old frined in school was only allowed to listen to christian music and i wanna know who did that song because it was great fun. id love to bust that out at fests
and my worst show was also free. my sister once again won free tickets from the radio(she works in an office) to see lynrd skynrd. worst show i have ever seen. we were like 6 rows fromt he top of the palace of auburn hills. couldnt hear a thing. seriously it would have sounded better int the truck. some dude threw up in the seat nest to me and then all his buddies started high fivin him for it. we ate enhancing chocolates when we got there which probably wasnt a good idea. and when we lit one up they gaves us shit about it. so we left. people were all looking and yelling at us for leaving during freebird. we just said it sounded like shit and kept going.
