I love the D but I kind of agree. I just couldn't get into them headlining to close the festival like I would with the Beastie Boys. It would be pretty sick if they put together a super jam type backing band though.

haha...HAHAHAHAHA
If I was a Beastie Boys fan I would be pissed. Buy a ticket to a festival, Beasties cancel, APW gets Jay-Z, Lolla gets YYY's, and Outside Lands gets a novelty band. Good going Superfly.

What you fail to realize is the Beasties are every bit the novelty band The D is.
The Beasties, Tool, and YYYs are all festival whores this year, i'm actually kinda refreshed to see them pull out something different, even if it's not the same Tool show thats been running for 5 years
I just hope this opens The D up for Roo next year maybe as a preheadliner to someone like AC/DC. Hearing "Kilbasa", "Wonderboy", and "Kyle Quit the Band" would make for a nice time.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

What? When Tenacious D can boast an album as influential as Paul's Boutique than we can talk, but for now, it's Jack Black's project that's a joke. I don't think you can compare the two.
3 white dudes rapping wearing costumes half the time isn't a novelty. I love the Beasties and they are obviously the bigger deal, but they were playing every festival this summer, and if they never booked the beasties like most fests and originally booked The D, it would have been an inspired choice, seeing as its their first festival performance and Beasties would have been everywhere this summer.

That was my first though was how everyone was gonna jump on this for Roo next year. I'm not trying to offend anyone but this is one of the two bands that makes me ill. The D will make me look else where. While I'm stoked for the people that love them ... It's not my cup of tea.

I guess me and Sangreal will have some top spots at next years roo since everyone else is going to Rothbury
yea, quack them. it would be nice to have less people at roo.
I'll be with you guys.
Bonnaroo> everything. Rothbury needs to do a lot better job with their day acts. lineup just doesnt come close to what it needs to be. But i still had a good time there...its just not even close tho. Bonnaroo is God
I didnt mean to stir anything up. I'm sorry if I did. There are alot of D fans around these parts and I know that. You wont ever be able to please everyone. Me included. Chances are if it were someone like Archie Shepp w/ the Sun Ra Arkestra ... most people would bitch about that too.
