I got in touch with Nicolas Bouckaert (the guy who started Echo) though one of the many online communities. I asked him whether or not there would be another this year...
This was his reply:
"Thanks for supporting the Echo Project, glad you enjoyed last year! As for the future, we are hoping to make an announcement of some exciting news to the public fairly soon. Can't say more right now, but please stay tuned and we'll let everyone know shortly..."
...so take it for what you will. Maybe the "announcement" will be another Echo, maybe something else entirely.

Good detective work. That sounds promising. Karma.

eff that. Somebody slept through their business classes. You don't have a big event like that with a huge success, and then just take a year off and say it's gonna be bigger and better the next year. It won't.

Man that news sucks. Thanks for investigating though. Echo was going to be my last fest of the season. Any other festival suggestions for the South East?
For those wanting another festival in the southeast this fall check out the thread I made for Bear Creek. It is at the Suwanee Music Park where they hold Wanee.

Would any of you like a free Echo Project poster from last year? They are really cool looking. I was on the street team and have some leftovers. They pretty much look like this: the-echoproject.com/ I can take a picture of one if you'd like.
Any way, if you do want one just send me a PM. I've got about 10 of them. I'll have to get your address, and maybe 3 bucks for shipping or something. 'cause if I send all 10 out, it'd be $30, and I'm poor.

Trinumeral Music Fest in Deerfields NC, which is right near Asheville will be amazing this year. The lineup is great and Deerfields is beautiful and has a lake and a great presence in Music, ARt, Community, and Vibe. Check it out if you can make the trip. Now that Echo isn't going on, which BLOWS ROYALLY by the way , I am definitely not missing Trinumeral. Though I was probably, ok definitely going to both anyway. The Site is....
hey mattlikesrock - i would love one of those posters - i tried doin their survey for a free poster and didnt get it of course...... love meatcamp and echo - but come on guys! But yea Trinumeral and Loki @ Deerfields this fall will rage so hit em up!

I picked up a creative loafing today its a Atlanta free newspaper and for its fall guide it had The Echo Project listed! Does this mean there is still a chance of its coming back or was it just a misprint and they havent even checked to see if the event will be held. It makes me wonder because alot of people see this Atlanta Fall guide and it would be a big misprint.
i talked to the dude who sells blinkies at all the shows while at gratefulfest. he has a 9 year contract with echo. he said they took a big financial hit last year but that he was told that it will go on in 2009 for sure. and he also tossed down the spring echo thing. obviously he cant be positive but he was pretty damn sure about no echo this year and echo in the fall of 09 for sure.
Agreed. I got excited upon spotting the listing in CL, but was saddened to see that the dates were the same as were the bands. MAJOR misprint that will surely let a few folks down.
