Here's what my friend wrote up for me to try. I've been doing this since last week:
Breakfast: Dannon Light Smoothie (strawberry banana falvor) for me this is great because I HATE the texture of yogurt. This stuff is drinkable, just a bit thicker than milk. You can also have Oatmeal or cereal... think Fiber 1 or chereos.
Snack: Any one of these: String cheese (fat free), a piece of fruit or some veges
Lunch: Turkey on a spinach salad with green olives, green onions, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli with honey mustard on top. (not the dressing the real mustard. 10 calories and fat free) OR a turkey sandwich on 100% whole wheat bread. I have been using honey mustard on the sandwiches too. NO MAYO, it's the devil and light mayo tastes like poo. You can get any lunchmeat you want as long as it is the Low Fat 97% or more.
Snack: Special K protein bar (peanut butter chocolate is good.... and filling)
Dinner: 5-8oz of Turkey or chicken breast, whole grain brown rice, and a side of steamed veges.
Snack/Dessert: 1-2 Miller Genuine Draft 64s. Only 64 calories and no fat.
In a day I have been taking in around 700-800 calories doing this.
Also , something that helps stop the hunger if you need it is Special K Protein Water Mix. I've tried the pink lemonaid and it is GREAT! 30 calories, no fat and 5g of protein.
My friend that made up this plan for me also said that on the weekend it is ok to cheat a bit if you are strict during the week. He said Eggbeaters are ok for breakfast as are wheat pancakes and waffles and breakfast meat that is low in fat (lean turkey sausage).
He also said that if you have to eat out to get 2 items from the Fresco Menu at Taco Bell or anything with Grilled Chicken at Chic-fil-a.
I hope that helps!
I don't mean to be a downer-- and maybe you're consuming more than 700-800 calories.. but if you're JUST consuming that many, it's incredibly unhealthy. An average woman needs ATLEAST 1200 calories a day. :/ I just get worried when I see such low calorie numbers. My sister had an eating disorder, so it's instinct now. Please look into that if you're only consuming 700-800 a day, because that is too few.

im no expert on this, but that sounds extremely low.
I kinda thought it was too but I never feel hungry or run down. I just checked my fitday.com page and yesterday I had 897 calories according to the page. It may be more, maybe I should add it myself instead of the website.
I went back and looked at the veges again and it is closer to 1000 cal.

^^ I'd still try to up that number by 200 calories. Just to be healthy. You can lose weight and get in shape and still consume a healthy amount of calories.. :] Sorry I'm playing mom. Again, it's instinct now.

It's completely ok. I appreciate the concern. I can see where I was probably trying to be to restrictive and really I didn't know the the basal number of calories required. Thanks for the help
Also, for those looking for a good low-calorie wheat bread, I've had good success with the Weight Watchers bread. Has a good amount of fiber AND no high-fructose corn syrup. It's surprisingly difficult to find bread without this. Plus, the WW bread is small so you can actually have two pieces and feel like you're having a real sandwich, instead of a 1/2 sandwich.
have you tried the WW pitas? theyre the best pita bread option ive found so far. they can be a little dry on their own but once you fill them up theyre really good. and i looooooove to make pita chips with them. I sprinkle them with garlic powder, pop them in the oven for a bit and eat them with hot salsa. soo good!
ooooh - that sounds really good! I am definitely trying that.
and sweetmelissa - the other problem with restricting calories so much is that it's really hard to maintain. Your body will revolt and you'll end up bingeing.
Also, while you want to keep the total amount of fat down and make sure it's not trans, you definitely need it in your diet. It's good for your skin, hair and overall bodily functions. Don't want to be a sallow skinny girl!

Yay fitday.com! I'm so happy you like it, it keeps track of everything for me.
I love your menu, btw, I pretty much do the same basic foods.
Breakfast for me is whole wheat toast (nature's harvest light is 40 cals/4 grams fiber a slice), fruit and v8
Lunch is a green salad and Progresso Soup (60 cals a serving! you can eat the whole can for 120 cals and get about 8 grams of fiber!)
Snacks are raw veggies/fruits
At night we do tons of roast veggies and some lean protein
And it has been working great for me! According to my fitday chart I'm getting 1100 to 1400 cals a day and still losing 2-3 pounds a week.
Glad to see everyone is doing great! And SOOO happy I have so much support on here! Roosters are the BEST!

Daniroo! Keep up the good work!!!
My husband and I are both on fitday. He loves it just as much as I do!
I may have to try the progresso soups with lunch! I will not have a problem at all eating 200 more calories a day. I love to eat... I just need to keep learing to love eating what is good.

Can you get the WW bread (and pitas) at grocery stores? I've seen the frozen meals and whatnot but never bread. I have a friend who's husband works for Nature's Own (they also make the Kroger brand bread) so I've gotten so much free bread, I'm just now having to buy it.
As for my friend at work who does the small meals, she's allergic to wheat so she really has to watch what she eats. According to her, she's always hungry but methinks it's because she can't eat much that's not rice, chicken, fruit or veggies! If I snack at work, I try to do fruit or crackers like Triscuits or Wheat Thins (low sodium ones).
For breakfast, I try to stick with fruit or a good-for-me cereal-- today was Grape Nuts. So those Dannon smoothie things are good? I'm afraid the texture would turn me off! I like yogurt but not enough to buy on a regular basis.

^^ I have MAJOR texture issues. I can't eat beans, yogurt, tomato and a few other things because the texture makes me gag. The Dannon Smoothies are good. It took a few sips before I was completely sold on them. They are thicker than milk but thinner than Pepto. Kinda like melted ice cream.... I hope that makes sence.

When I eat yogurt, I add some grapenuts or fiber one, and then sprinkle in a little wheat germ too. That makes it almost like a cold, flavored oatmeal. Very yummy!

yup, the bread and the pitas are in the bread aisle at any regular grocery store
I'm down another 2lbs, so 5 total since I began two weeks ago! Woot! That's half a jean size.
I've made the most yummy salsa that I've been putting on EVERYTHING! It really adds a huge punch of flavor to otherwise bland things, and it's super good for you.
you need: 1 small avocado diced into small cubes 1/2 medium red onion chopped finely 2 tomatoes chopped 1/4 cucumber diced very small 1/4 cup of cilantro, chopped the juice of two limes salt and pepper to taste
Just mix it all together, and keep it covered in the fridge, it will last a few days. The only fat comes from the avocado. And if you are just using a few spoonfuls of it, you're not getting very much at all.
I made some shrimp tacos the other night, and the boy loads his up with sour cream and cheese while I just put some of my salsa on mine. He asks to take a bite of mine, and says, "aw, I ruined mine!" It is also very yummy on grilled chicken and pork.

Thanks for the recipie! I'm going to make that soon with some pureed tomato. I can't do the chunks
Nice progress Dani!! You have some will power! And Karma for using "WOOT"!!! I say it all the time and people around here think I'm crazy.
I'm down 4lbs total. I think I had a little too much coors light this weekend and kinda messed up a couple days. I'm back to the routine now though. It has been balls cold here so I haven't been outside much but I've been killing some Wii Fit Aerobics.
Hehe! Thanks! Yeah, I'm always saying woot, people look at me funny.
It's balls cold here too, we got about a foot of snow last night. But, the pup and I took a walk for about 20 minutes today... I thought my face was gonna fall off by the time we got back inside.
Oh! I like the pureed tomato idea, it would be like gazpacho! YUM!
I've been doing so well lately... I even went to the store and loaded up on veggies and fruit last night. Then today, I accidentally left my lunch at home and had to eat out. My stomach is not happy with me right now!
On a side note, i went to a new Publix that opened near my apartment last night and got a 2lb. organic chicken for super cheap, under $3. I asked the meat dept about it and they said it was mis-labeled and just to take it. Score! BUT, I have no idea how to prepare a chicken. Any suggestions?
PS. Daniroo, I went to your blog and now I want to brine a turkey! haha

Hey... Hope everyone is doing well with their workouts/eating. I finally realized I enjoy working out. I have been going 6 days a week, skipping Sundays. The only way I have been doing this, is having a friend with me. We motivate each other and it is more fun. My eating is so-so. Some days I'll be strict, some I'll have what I want but in moderation. I have my goal of the half marathon in mind so it is helping me. My other goal is short shorts for spring lol. Also one of my friends and I decided that after this weekend (my whole crew is going skiing/snowboarding) we would stop drinking alcohol except for special occasions we already have planned. We're going to try to do this up until Easter and see how we feel and how it affected our progress. Unfortunately I don't think this part is going to be so easy. I enjoy going out, especially when my friend owns a bar and has beer pong contests every Friday. Wish me luck
DaniRoo I added you on Twitter... I'm new to it and kinda have no idea what to do with it though lol.
P.S- Yogurt with fresh fruit is the best breakfast/snack ever. I don't know why but I feel so happy and healthy after I eat it lol.

YAY!!! It's super easy, and works for chicken too!
If you give it a try, take pics, and I'll put them up!
So, I went snow tubing yesterday... figured it would be a great way to get some exercise with all the hiking and walking. Well, on the last run of the day, I banged both of my knees going down the run. I now have a right knee that is swollen up like a cantoloupe and completely black. Bah. I can barely walk on it (so no exercise for a while) and am supposed to go to a wedding this weekend... this blows.

Ouch! That sucks! I hope it heals soon. I caught my knees on some rocks when I went floating (on my stomach) in the river last summer.... I was bruised for a few weeks.
I had a banana for breakfast and I'm about to break into some yogurt!

Hey hey!
I'm glad everyone here is supportive! I know some folks who are being very unsupportive and kinda mocking me for wanting to do better and be healthy. Kinda makes me a bit frusterated.
Thanks again y'all.
Sorry about the knees Dani. I know that had to hurt!

did you already cook your chicken? If not, know that roasting a whole chicken is possibly the easiest thing to do. For the most part, you just throw it in the oven - no fussing.
I have tons of luck with Williams Sonoma recipes so here's a link for various roasted chicken.

Thanks ladies! Yeah, the knees hurt, but I'll be okay.
I've found that a lot of people like to be unsupportive when it comes to losing weight and being healthy. I'm not sure why. But, that's why we are here! We'll support you and help you stay on track.
I am actually doing something really cool tomorrow that I haven't told anyone about because I'm afraid people will mock me for it... I've got an appointment tomorrow to go see a doctor about doing a medical weight loss program. It's hormone therapy to boost your metabolism. I'm super excited and cannot wait to begin. ;D
