^^ It's a combination of metabolism booster and appetite suppressant.
You give yourself a shot in the rump twice a week that is a natural hormone that women produce in their first trimester of pregnancy. That boosts your metabolism insanely. And then, you also take a medicine called Adipex that reduces your appetite. It's relatively inexpensive, about $75 for the initial visit, and then $40 a month for your shots and pills. But the results are incredible. I've met so many people that have had tremendous success with it.
One girl I've met lost 56lbs in about 5 months, and has kept it off for over 3 years.
After I go tomorrow, I'll know more and report back!
Adipex is the brand name for phentermine - which essentially is prescription speed. It workd great for weight loss and you can order it off the internet.
Some states limit how many prescriptions you can have filled in the course of a year in an effort to curb addiction rates (because it is addictive and you do build up a tolerance for it) In Mississippi, if you go to a doctor for your prescription - you are only allowd to have 3 months worth in any calendar year.
That said - I love Adipex - I dropped 80 lbs combining it with Weight Watchers and running. Then had two ankle surgeries and gained it back.
Now I am watching calories and working out and have lost 4 lbs since January 1
did you already cook your chicken? If not, know that roasting a whole chicken is possibly the easiest thing to do. For the most part, you just throw it in the oven - no fussing.
I have tons of luck with Williams Sonoma recipes so here's a link for various roasted chicken.
I haven't cooked it yet-- it's in my freezer-- because I had no idea what to do with it! Thanks for the link, dcbee! I will definitely be checking those out.
PS. Is it like a turkey in that it will have all of the "insides" (liver, neck, etc) that I need to take out of the inside?

I haven't even read anything on this thread yet but I figure this will be a great place to get support from peers. I've lost 10lbs since the beg. of the year. It's so hard to stay on track when your habits have just taken over you. I'm so used to grabbing a mt. dew and to trade that drink in for water is so hard at times. I told myself that it's now time to get healthier and if that means me starting out with 15 minutes a day with exercise and work my way up. I hope that this year at Bonnaroo i'm not nearly as miserable as the past two. I feel as if my weight has held me back from having as much fun as I possibly can have at Roo.

Yep, all the stuff will be in it. Just rinse it out really well after you take all the parts out of it. I have an easy recipe on my website for roasted lemon rosemary chicken.
Ok! So, I am back from the doctor with all kinds of things to report!
I have my prescription for Adipex and have opted out of the shots. The doctor said I probably wouldn't need them. yay!
He has given me a diet to follow, I have to check in every month, and I am on my way to skinny-ville! I'll def keep you guys all up to date on how I'm doing. I'm so STOKED!
But, it's super easy, I just take the pills, follow the plan, do 20 min of light exercise a day and I should be good to go.
Well...i've had many experiences. One of the first I took them for a month or so...the first two weeks i lost 19.5 lbs and within 6 weeks I lost 38.5 lbs but of course you gain it back. You definately will have less of an appetite but usually if you don't eat when you take them your stomach may get upset and the main reason I don't take them anymore is my boyfriend. He says that i'm on edge/bitch when I take them. His mother also got a heart murmur from natural diet pills. I decided this time i'm going to be nice to lose weight and be nice at the same time.
I've been taking them since Friday and have already lost 4 pounds. I told everyone around me to let me know if I act any differently, and so far nothing. I'm my usual, easy going self. I just feel like I have more energy and am not hungry, ever.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience, C, but very happy you found this thread. We are all here to support each other, no matter how we are losing the weight. So, welcome!

Daniroo, does it make your heart race bad? I have taken the phentermine(sp) stuff in the past and I just could not deal with the heart racing. Good luck with your new plan. Some guys at work did that for a while last year and dropped a ton of weight. I am just working out a lot and watching my calories. So far so good, but the weekends are soooo hard for me to stay on track.
Actually, no. I haven't had any problems with it at all. I take 1/2 of it around 9ish, and then take the other half around noon.
There is a milder version of Adipex (Phentermine) called Phendimetrazine for people who have problems with nervousness/heart racing. Maybe that could work for you. But that's awesome that you are doing so well on your own. Remember, you can always hop on here during the weekends to get a little extra support!
3 or so years ago I was an adventure racer. I've mentioned this before, but if you are not familiar with it, it's a mountain triathalon, roughly 80 miles of cross country running, mountain biking and kayaking over a 16 hour period. I slipped two discs in my back and pinched my sciatica while in training for my last one, I was 24. I went from running 9-15 miles a day to strict bed rest. I had to take steroids, both pills and epidural injections to heal my back enough just so I could walk again. After I was able to walk again, I was on heavy muscle relaxers, pain killers and still had to take steroids.
Well, the bed rest, steroids, pain meds and no exercising at all for 3 years destroyed my metabolism, caused me to lose all of my muscle and gain close to 40 pounds. I have been cleared to exercise and pain med/steroid free (YAY!) for 6 months. I have been running 45 minutes a day and watching what I eat, and believe me, I know how to eat right, any marathon runner does. In 6 months, I've lost 2-6 pounds, but it just fluctuates. If I could do this without medicine, I would, but so far this is the only thing that has worked for me.
I apologize if I made it sound easy to just take pills, it's not. I still have to watch what I eat (I'm on a very restrictive diet as per my doctor's orders) and still exercise. The pills are a jump start for my metabolism, I'm now 27, and any doctor will tell you this is when it starts slowing down even more in women. I have actually lost weight over the past three days, and I am thrilled to see 4 pounds gone. I know it's not going to be easy to lose all the weight I've put on in three years and get my old body back. But, if this stuff helps and doesn't make me crazy, I'm all for it.
And all the ladies (and the few guys who wander in) in this thread are VERY supportive and we all have the same goal... To be happier and healthier at Bonnaroo. So lets please stay happy and supportive of everyone!

Congrats on the 4lbs already, that is great! Since you are a marathoner I figured I'd ask you if you have any tips or advice. Last year I did the 10K marathon, but right after I crossed the finish line I told myself I would do the half marathon in 2009. I started training 2 weeks ago, along with doing body building on my rest/XT train days
This is my training schedule:
My Meal Plan is: -Breakfast: Usually egg whites, Whole Wheat bread & Yogurt (Multi-Vitamin & fat burner) -Protein Shake/Bar -Lunch: Lean protein, Veg, "Good" carb -Protein Shake/bar -Dinner: Lean Protein, Veg, "Good carb" -Workout (Endurance powder in 16oz water during workout) -Protein Shake
Like I said I am doing body building along with marathon training, hence all the protein. I get my carb load up with the endurance powder. I also bought the power bar gels to try before running (I wouldn't take the endurance drink the same day as I did the gel)
I gave up alcohol and soda. I drink water pretty much constantly throughout the day, and sometimes have gatoraid while running. I no longer plan to eat any fastfood or junk food of any kind.
I am so determined it is ridiculous. I want to be able to complete the half marathon, I never was a runner so the 10k last year was a big deal for me. So the half marathon is just huge....along with the body building which I am using to completely transform my body, I'm excited to see results (which I can already start to see !! )
^^^ AWESOME! You have a great plan and loads of determination, you'll need it, a half marathon is no easy feat. The only thing I would change, is usually a week or two before the actual race, I'd do the race distance just to get me mentally prepared.
The gels are awesome, just practice eating them while you are actually running, it can be tougher than it seems. Also, practice drinking while running, too. It's the little things that can trip you up, so prepare for them.
The weight lifting is key to running a really great marathon, but make sure you do take at least one day off to rest each week.
Your meal plan looks great too, you seem to every thing in order!
After I drop my excess poundage, I am going to start training for another adventure race, if you still like running after your half, you should do that training with me.
There are TONS of races up your way. And not all of them are 16 hours, there are shorter ones as well.
Congrats again on your success! You're doing awesome, and keep us posted on your progress.

LoL yea I can't even walk and drink a Gatorade at the same time so I'll have to practice. I remember at the 10k once I got to the water station I was like Oh Crap how do I drink this?! lol...I ended up just kind of throwing it at my face.
I would LOVE to do something like an adventure race it sounds so fun!
I never even hear about them until you mentioned it!
Ok, so I've been taking the pills since Saturday... I have lost 6.5 pounds! No jitters, no racing thoughts, I've been sleeping fine, and I haven't turned into a crazy psycho loon.
I just got back from a 30 minute walk with the pup, and besides the freezing weather and the snow, it was easy. I didn't get winded and feel really good now! It's amazing what dropping a little weight can do for your stamina.
alessiasurfsny - That's too funny! I've thrown the water at myself too, but once you get used to drinking while running, it's not too hard. How is your training coming? I'm really getting antsy to start training again, but I know I need to get rid of some more weight before I start road running again. I don't want to risk re-injuring my back.

It's going pretty well... I'm taking my rest day today bc I am just physically and mentally able to get myself to the gym. I have been going every single day though. My running is back to when i started last year...2 miles feels like an eternity. I'm hoping I'll just get back into the flow. You are really making me consider taking Adipex, right now I'm taking MHP DREN fat burner which is a once a day pill but I don't feel anything for it yet. Can a regular family doctor prescribe Adipex? Or do I have to go to a specialist? Because I make pretty much no money I have health insurance from the Govt. so Idk what is covered. Tonight is the first Friday of my sober vow, and I find myself slightly regretting it, but then I think about the drunk dialing/twittering (which you prob saw lol)/texting that I'm relieved I'm not drinking lol. ...BTW, I only go out once a week so that is why my tolerance got so low^^
Congrats on the 6 1/2 lbs that is awesome!!!!
P.S. Those Power Bar gels are the oddest taste/texture ever lol.
P.S.S- I just checked out your webpage/blog and I am totally making that pasta for my family tonight! We have everything in your recipe at the house so I'm pretty excited lol! Love that you used the whole wheat pasta!! Thanks for the recipe!
Hey Ladies - GREAT THREAD! I am also in the losing weight mode - and im working off the cut calories/exercise/drink tons of water ideology. I've lost 4 pounds since Jan 1, so Im just hoping to keep it up till Roo. I've got 15 to get to my I'll-like-the-way-I-look weight.
I have also taken the Adipex - and i had the heart racing issues so i stopped (even though i was dropping weight like crazy... it was great!), but I also had a curious experience while on it and wanted to share with you guys. I entitle this story "That Time I Roofied Myself"
I took half an adipex around 5 or 6pm one day, and began getting ready to go to a friends house party. I took with with a little sandwich and glass of water, then proceeded to shower, get dressed, makeup, you know - the usual get cute routine. I went to the party around 8, and had ONE bourbon and coke that I made myself. Things were calm, normal party, no one getting wasted, just hanging and chatting. I made myself a second B&C about 45 min after I had the first one. I dont remember anything else from that night. I woke up the next morning on my friend Sarah's futon, thinking, "where the hell am i?" All of the following details come from various friends recounting the night to me. Apparently, I was running around like a wild woman (totally not me), stealing peoples drinks and hiding them then pretending it wasnt me (that's just weird). I would force people to take shots of vodka, while pouring myself a water shot and then laugh and laugh that I tricked everyone (i hate shots, so making others take them is also totally un-me). And then, when I passed out on my friend's/hostess' bed - I threw up all over her comforter. THAT is most DEFINITELY not me. I dont' pass out, and I don't throw up. Eww.
So lesson learned - Dont take Adipex and drink alcohol. You'll only end up roofy-ing yourself
Music Midtown'01'02'04'05'11-'13::Ultra'02'03::Roo'07-'16::ACL'10::AF/TheNational'11::Sasquatch'11::Voodoo'11'16::Counterpoint'12'14::Moogfest'12::TommorowWorld'13'14::MOEMS'13::Coachella'14'15::ShakyKnees'13-'17::MFGLASTONBURY2017
alessiasurfsny - Yep, a regular dr. can prescribe them. I'm just going to a weight loss clinc because the dr.'s fiance is my fiance's paralegal. Hehe, the gels are a little strange, but you'll get used to them. And, no, I missed your drunken twitters, I'll have to go back through my old logs. I'm so glad you like the recipe! It was nomtastic! I can't wait to hear how you like it. I'm a sucker for eggplant and will put it in everything that I can. And, yes, I love the whole wheat pasta. I hate it when regular pasta gets over cooked, so mushy! But, WW pasta stays firm, even after baking it, not to mention it is so much better for you.
Mayonaise - Thanks for the tip! I've only had a Mich Ultra or two on any given night since I've begun taking them. But, I'll def keep that in mind. Oh! But something I learned from my wieght loss doc is alcohol turns off the enzyme system that burns fat. Three drinks will stop your body from burning fat for 48 hours!
So alessiasurfsny, it's good that you are staying sober! But he did say that if I were to drink 1 day a week it wouldn't hurt my progress.

Hey, hey... Glad to see everyone is doing so well with their plans!
I've done a shit job the past few days since the ice storm. We were without power for a couple days and all we did was sit around and drink beer in the dark and grill all of the meat in the freezer so it wouldn't go bad....
I'm super pissed at myself, but it is also making me want to get back on track even more!
And after Dani's bit of info up above, I'll be cutting back to 1 day a week for my beering activities!
The husband and I are about to go walk around the neighborhood. yay exercise.
hey bonnagirlies!!! since everyones sharing their fitness goals, i figured i would add mine as well.
im a 22 year old university student and i'll be running my first half marathon in september, i joined a running group which starts a 17 week training session in may and then runs the half marathon together in my city which is London, Ontario. Right now im doing my pre training training as i call it, i attend cycle classes 3 days a week and lift weights 3 days a week. I'm already in fairly okay shape and am not really looking towards loosing much weight, just getting into better shape and tone my muscles... im lucky in the sense that i prefer healthier foods to junk food, but every now and then i can't help myself, i love bacon grilled cheese!!!
sweetmelissa - we had a hurricane party like that a few years ago! Just sat around drinking and eating everything in the fridge and playing lots of cards. Glad to know you survived the ice storm.
chawke - welcome! Good for you! I look forward to hearing how your training is going, and I LOVE bacon grilled cheese... I usually put tomato and pickles on mine too! It's kinda like a bacon cheeseburger without the burger. Nom nom nom!
