Wow, this is so cool! Thanks for starting this. My husband and I are coming for the first time and my first thought was, crap, I'm fat! I have started excersing and eating better. I've lost 10 since Thanksgiving, so I will be checking this often for support as I continue. FYI, I just got one of those big balls to do crunches on. It came with a DVD, Awesome! It burns, but a good burn
^^^^^^^ good thinking!! i tried turkey bacon and i just didn't like it as much, i figure that i should really give it a try again, as my tastebuds tend to evolve year to year.... one year i'll totally despise something and the next i can't get enough. im a bit weird like that..
i really love bread a lot, but don't like to eat so many carbs so i usually eat a light rye toast, and the slices are a lot smaller... so i still eat two pieces of toast and don't feel deprived but each slice has only 70 cals in it... as opposed to around 130 for bigger slices.... it helps with my portion control.
also while im on the topic, i mine as well share one of my best food secrets ever!!!! FIBER1 cereal.... it's so delicious, and super good for you, its great as a snack and comes in a few flavours usually i mix the regular with the honey cluster and its sooooo good, sometimes i add it to fatfree yogurt, you can't beat it... plus one serving has 56% of your daily fiber intake, which helps keep me "going" and keeps my insides tidy lol.
I like turkey bacon, but as turkey bacon - not as faux pork bacon. If you think of it as a completely different food product, it helps.
And the best way to get yourself to not eat when you're not hungry, is to be more mindful of your body. It's HARD and for me involves a constant conversation with myself. I have to talk myself out of eating.
It also helps me to constantly multi-task. If I'm watching TV, I'm also on the internet or playing solitaire or flipping through a catalog.
And you could try drinking water whenever you want to eat. Another way of distracting yourself and you might find that you were just needed to drink something, not eat.

Hey Girls (and Guys) I'm writing with importance today and I don't know where to post this on Inforoo but I figured I should give it a shot. I mentioned on here that I am training for a Half Marathon that takes place on May 3rd. I recently joined a group called Team In Training which is a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I joined this team because instead of running for myself I wanted to run with a purpose. I immediately joined this group when I heard about it because I have a wonderful cousin named Lindsey who is 9 years old and was diagnosed with Fanconi Anemia on July 29, 2004. This little girl is the most amazing person I have ever met in my life and I want to do whatever I can to make sure she and all other people out there with blood cancers will be taken care of.
I was trying to skim through her mothers journal entries to better explain the type of person Lindsey is and this is what I have found... "I am amazed by the depth of her compassion and her deep undoubting faith in God and Jesus. She speaks about Them as though They are personal friends of hers, which I suppose in a way they are. Lindsey has her own definite ideas about God, Jesus, and heaven which she speaks about with such authority that you can tell her faith is strong. She is so smart and sweet and kind and faithful that sometimes it is all I can do not to grab her up, hold her tight, and cry for what seems to be a very unfair situation we have been put in by having to deal with FA. Of course, sometimes I do cry, although I try my best not to do so in front of Lindsey. Mostly it is when I catch her playing or looking through a book; doing something that she is so engrossed in that she does not even know I am watching her. That is when I think about how unfair it is that her body is betraying her by harboring this illness. That is when I am at my most sad. Then there is night time when it is dark and Lindsey is asleep. That is when all of the “what ifs” start to creep into my head. I try my best not to get too down for too long, and instead focus on learning as much as I can about FA. "
Please help me reach my goal of $1,600 by donating on my personal Team In Training donation page. Any amount is welcomed, I can't do this alone and there are so many people who need our help. pages.teamintraining.org/li/lihalf09/atenebruso
alessiasurfsny - I think there is something in my eye... Your little cousin is so beautiful, so brave and just sounds amazing. If you don't mind, I'm going to pass this along to my friends and family.
And in fitness news... I'm down 10 pounds as of today! WOOT! I'm 5'10" so it takes a lot for me to notice any weight loss/gain, but my jeans are falling off of me and my boobs can almost fit in my bras again! ;D
I have my fave pair of "skinny Dani" jeans hanging up on my wall as motivation... soon, very soon.

Hey everyone. I am 100% nnneewww to the forum, and this year will be my first bonnaroo.. and i'll be 22. I am so sad that it will be my first, but I'm so excited because it's pretty much what my entire undergrad experience has been leading up it. It's fate that I go.
But yeah, I'm worried about the whole showering thing. I don't do that well, I at least would like to wash my hair? Maybe by the time I get there and get into the experience, I won't care, who knows.
But Just wanted to say hi to everyone, I've been reading some of the forums... but it's impossible to read it all!
I'm with you girls though, I'd like to lose 10-15lbs, then I'd be comfortable wearing minimal clothing, I know I won't get away with wearing jeans... haha.
Helllooo. This is my first post in here also, but my 3rd bonnaroo. I haven't read through everyone's posts, but for the one's I have read, my situation is a little different. Both years that I have been to the Roo I have been pregnant. (Not on purpose by any means!!) Last year I had to sit out all together because my youngest daughter was only 3 months old. With going from one pregnancy right into another, I managed to gain almost 40 pounds. I also gained a few stretch marks, which really sucked. I'm not worried so much about looking good, I would just really like to get myself back in some kind of shape. Pre-children I was a size 5 and a ballerina for 13 years. Now I'm barely a 12, absolutely no muscle left it seems, and in desperate need of some help. I've been going to the gym 4-5 days a week for 3 months now and still weigh exactly the same as what I did when I delivered my youngest. No matter what I do I can't seem to lose weight!! I've had a lot of people tell me that now that I have weaned the baby that the weight should start falling off. Does anybody know anything about this? And, does anybody have any tips for sticking to your plan when you're tired and stressed?? Thanks everybody and good luck on all your plans!!
just keep up with your exercise... and remember that you didn't gain the weight over night so you won't loose it over night either.... do as much intense cardio as you can handle, and keep it in mind that exercising isn't supposed to be comfortable you should be pushing yourself. are you lifting any weights? i find that motivating because you see results within a couple of weeks and you will feel stronger which should help you in your everyday momma activities....
sometimes when all i want to do is eat i try to keep myself distracted until it passes, paint my nails, clean my room, brush my teeth, anything really.... and i always drink a lot of water even if im not thirsty because a lot of times you might feel hungry but are only thirsty. that seems to help me.
most of all look at your babies and know it's all worth it mamma!!
ohhh also, i really like popsicles, you can get sugar free with only 15 cals each, and just the regular ones are only 60 cals.... for when you just gotta have something!!!
Thank you so much!! I was reading through some of these posts before I posted my own and saw some really good food ideas. I bought some turkey bacon today to try, so I'm hoping that goes well. (And my actual favorite activity is looking at my girls!! They make my heart sing ;D )

All right!
I've been thinking for something I could use as motivation for losing weight and I recently decided on Bonnaroo.
I want to look better and feel heathier - I don't want to feel all run down and pathetic in the heat during the day at the 'Roo. I want it to be as enjoyable of an experience as it possibly can be, since it will be my first time. (I was going to go last year but plans fell through. I was devastated!)
I'm glad I found this thread. Hopefully I'll be back for some motivation Good luck to everyone and congrats to those of you who've already made progress!
Welcome to all the new ladies in here! I can't wait to hear how well you are doing! Also, it makes me want to work harder when I hear other girls are doing well.
crazykittensmile - Congrats on the 10lbs! It feels so good doesn't it? I went out of town this weekend and there was a little too much boozing... so I didn't lose anything this weekend, but now I'm back on track. I'm really looking forward to doing yoga and pilates again, and I'm gonna try to do the sunrise yoga this year as well.
Hi Dani! It is great to hear you are doing so well. I tried your Italian Bake you have on the website last night...it was soooooo yummy. My 13 yr old son even liked it. I am having leftovers today! I have an appt in a couple of weeks for the same thing you went to. I am kind of weirded out about those shots. I guess I will see what the Dr. says. On my own I am down about 11 lbs but I really need a boost.
Grrr... So the boy and I went to Charlotte this past weekend to go shopping. We boozed it hard on Friday and on Saturday since we were hanging out with people we haven't seen in forever... Well, I'm still holding steady at -10lbs 3 days later. So I'm hitting the elliptical for 45 min today to try and bust through this plateau.
We are going to the beach the weekend of the 21st, I'd like to be -15lbs down by then. I think I can do 5 lbs in 10 days.
Last week I made some awesome veggies. Cut up your favorite vegetables (things like this are best: squash, tomatoes, carrots, onions, peppers, etc) and toss them with just a little bit of lite or no-fat Italian dressing. Not too much or the veggies will be soggy! Put them in a aluminum foil-lined pan and roast them in the oven for about 45 minutes. They are super yummy! And the leftovers are good warmed up too. if you want you can add some parmesean cheese with the salad dressing but they're also good if you leave it out.
I'll admit that I have not been doing well with my "eating better" plan for about a week. I did good for a few weeks eating fruits and veggies, and then one day last week, I was "starving" so I splurged... and didn't really stop until yesterday! I'm ready to get back on the fruits and veggies train; my body can tell a difference!
I'm in the process of trying to lose 120lbs. It's a lot but I feel like I can make it happen. I'm taking it slow, and not trying to overdo it. I figure I didn't become fat overnight and I won't become healthy overnight either.
