Yay! I broke my plateau, and am now down another 1.5 pounds! So, 11.5 total. I'm so happy. ;D
AND... last night we went out to watch the Wake Forest game, I drank water the ENTIRE time! Not a drop of booze! I kept telling myself, "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels," and it worked.
Also, since I've gained weight, I've been wearing my hair up, and just throwing on jeans and tshirts. Last night, I got out one of my tight WF tees (and it fit!) and actually put on makeup and did my hair. While we were out, we ran into one of my boy's friends who hadn't seen me in a while. He pulled Russ aside and told him how good I looked and asked him if I had lost weight! Russ told me how proud of me he was... I about cried I was so happy.

Congrats! I know that when you've worked your butt off (literally) and someone notices it's the best feeling! I think I'm about to start working out and watching what I eat a little more. Wish me luck.
Good luck Katy Mae!! And good job everybody on your accomplishments so far. I do really well during the week but have a tendency to start eating a lot on the weekends. Plus I'm a big stress eater. I've been trying to make a concious decision not to splurge too much though. We'll see on Monday how I did...
Hey ladies! I went to the doctor on Friday, and... I'm down 15 pounds total! I've lost 2" off my chest, 3" off my waist, and 3" off my hips! ;D I'm so excited!
But... I gained a pound over the weekend... damn Valentine's Day! Oh well, I had fun and now I'm back on track.
And yes, Jen, it made me feel sooo good to have people notice that I have lost weight. We spent most of the weekend at my boy's parent's club, and all the old ladies were asking me for my "secret." hehe!

So I ended up giving myself a kick in the ass. (this was just copied & pasted from my blog about my first run w/ TNT) Today was my first official TNT run (I missed last week, so to everyone else today was the 2nd run.) I was so nervous about this run because #1 I am not the best runner #2 I am not the fastest runner #3 I get intimidated by athletes who are better than I am. I woke up at 5:30am this morning dreading getting out of bed and meeting up with a bunch of strangers to go run in the freezing cold. As I agonized over what I should do I checked my e-mail and read very motivating and kind words from fellow TNT members, which got me out of bed and out of the house. 30minutes later I arrived at Sunken Meadow State Park and met up with dozens of TNT runners, everyone was very warm and welcoming and we began the run with a very touching personal story about a family member with leukemia read by a TNT participant. The story motivated all of us and we began running. Now, for those who aren't familiar with Sunken Meadow, it is on the water, and it is freeeeeeeezing during the early morning especially in winter. So we fought the winds and freezing temperature and did (according to my pedometer) a 5.8 mile run. During the run I met some very encouraging people, one in particular who stayed with me the whole time and who paced us. Once we completed the run I was elated! It is such a wonderful experience knowing you are running and raising donations to help save lives. I am looking forward to next Saturday's run
It really was an amazing experience and it totally motivated me to stay on schedule with my training so I can just keep getting better and better. I leave for FL on Mon so I have to miss two group runs but I don't mind running laps around florida instead

YAY! Super karma for you! I'm going to go run a few miles today on the elliptical, I need to kick my butt into gear, too. But you sound like you really have!
Where will you be in Fl? My parents split their time between Lake Wales (outside of Orlando) and South Beach. Enjoy the warm weather for me, I'm super jealous!
Hey gals!!! I need to join this thread. I had a baby 9 months ago and haven’t even tried to get back into shape. However the other night I raged at Dark Star and man was I in pain from dancing all night. This is a bad sign for the roo. So I have a few months left to kick my tail into gear. Drop some weight and be in shape enough to boogie all night.
So ladies here's the deal....should I get an elliptical or a treadmill? I only have room for one right now in my spare room
I'd go with an elliptical, but that is just my preference. I think it gives a better calf workout - especially when you go backwards on them. And, I love that they give you an arm workout as well.

Can I join ya?
Of course! That's what we all want... to be happier and more fit at Roo! So feel free to join us, and we can't wait to hear how you're doing!
Where are you in Cary? I just moved up to Boone from Raleigh a little over a year ago.

I am doing the Couch to 5K challenge. Started week 2 this week and haven't let up a day, but I thought I was going to die!! SO I might have to slow it down a notch - do each week for two weeks instead of one. I'd be on pace to do my 5K just before 'Roo.
I'm trying to force feed myself water. Been doing good on the junk food/soda front so far.
Going to try and go to the gym just about every day here soon or go walking or do yoga.
I've been feeling sick lately so I need to get over that first and then I'll be in better shape to do these things. Just a little update...

hey ladies! i'm hopping on the bandwagon - definitely need to get my bod roo ready. i'll start riding my bike to work in late march so hopefully that will help...also am gearing up to go pescetarian (sp?) next week - wish me luck!
ice cream every night, while delicious, is not doing me any favors
"Walk tall, kick ass, learn to speak Arabic, love music and never forget you come from a long line of truth seekers, lovers and warriors" - Hunter S. Thompson
Stephiejane - Welcome! Good for you! And if you are looking for an ice cream sub., try tofutti or skinny cow. Both are yummy and great for curbing those cravings. Good luck with fish only, sushi made with brown rice is REALLY healthy, and most sushi restaurants will make it for you if you ask.
Alessiasurfsny - How is Florida and how is your running coming? Can I say I am INSANELY jealous of you right now? I woke up to snow and ice and 13 degree weather.... blah.
onesweetla83 - How are you doing on your couch 2 5k? I would love to hear how it is working for you.
I am down 18 pounds! I have lost about a size and a half, and am getting closer and closer to my skinny jeans... still another 20 or so to go, but I'll get there.
One of the things I am looking most forward to is my best friend's wedding in July. She is having our dresses custom made and I had to send in my measurements about 2 months ago, before I started on my diet. I have my first fitting on March 15... with her and another bridesmaid. I can't wait for the seamstress to be like, "You sent me the wrong measurements!"
^^^Daniroo - I just noticed your "What the hell is an arepas?" and I burst out laughing in my cubicle! I wondered the same thing the last 2 years at the Roo!!! how funny! Im sure you've already found it, but for those of you who haven't - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arepa And great job on losing a size!!! I am teetering between 8 and 10. as in, most of my 10's are loose, but all my 8's are still a little too tight for public wearing. So, Im hoping in a week or so, i'll be gettin into those 8's!!! My goal for Roo (and beyond) is a between a 6 and 4. Keep it up ladies! We're all gonna be so hot!!!

^^^ haha! It's a funny story... on Friday of last year's Roo, four of us were sitting around listening to MMJ in the rain and I suddenly REALLY wanted an arepas! So, I start running around like crazy looking for an arepas stand. Well, this one guy with our group kept asking really quietly, "what the hell is an arepas?" while I'm yelling about how badly I need one. This goes on for about 10 minutes, until the guy grabs me by the shoulders and says, "I'm not moving one more G* damn step until I find out what the hell an arepas is!"
We all burst out laughing, because 1 - there was a lot of corn involved and 2 - we were standing right next to the line for the arepas when this took place. ;D
We were thinking of getting shirts made this year that said, "What the hell is an arepas?!"
And thank you! It does feel awesome to drop a size!
I'm sure you'll be comfortably in your 8's by next week!
So ladies here's the deal....should I get an elliptical or a treadmill? I only have room for one right now in my spare room
Just browsing through and thought I'd chime in since fitness is a big thing in my house. Mom is a certified group trainer and works at the YMCA, her and my dad both run half marathons. Anyways, elliptical is better. Essentially the same workout, but it's alot less stress on your joints.
Thanks Dani! I did my p90x last night - "arms and shoulders" disc, and the "ab ripper x"... boy do they mean it! that ab workout is killllller. tonight, i hit the gym with my gym buddy for 30 min treadmill workout, and legs on the machines. Then when i get home - its the p90x "yoga x." I just love having you guys on this thread. It really does inspire me to get home and "keep pressing play" (as they say on the p90x) and DO those workouts! Im not seeing much change now, but im only on day 11, and I know if I keep it up, I'll see the results I want by Bonnaroo!!! And the same goes for all of you!!! KEEP PRESSING PLAY!!! KEEP RUNNING!!! KEEP ELLIPTICAL-ING!!!

YAY!!! Good for you! This thread keeps me going, too. It feels like I have a ton of workout buddies!
I tried on my skinny jeans today and the legs fit... but I still couldn't get the booty wrangled. Soon soon!
So... I'm going to LA in 23 days for a wedding. And of course, everyone who is going to be there is a skinny, perfect barbie. And the bride is super cute and Australian and my boy used to have a big ol' crush on her... I'm not one of those girls who tries to outdo the bride, but damn if I'm not gonna try this time!
Okay - Daily update - Last night I went to the gym and did a Leg workout - those 2 machines where you have to push out using the hip flexors, and push in using your inner thighs - that sh*t was crazy!!! Then I came home and had a salad with salmon and capers! ...and a Strongbow, but whatever Tonight - It's treadmill workout at the gym, then home for p90x!
And - for those of you who wonder about p90x - it's a great program. Im NEVER bored, and almost ALWAYS sore the next day, in a good way. Im only on day 11 (?) so no major changes in body shape or weight yet, but im hoping it'll start shedding in anothe week. After my bod realizes Im trying to kick it's ass.
