Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
never done coachella, but we have a place to stay for free locally - so we wont bother with VIP. it seems a lot like lollapalooza, where VIP would be somewhat of a waste of cash (but im sure its fun if you can afford to swing that much dough).
i only do vip at roo for the proximity, showers, and bathrooms. and also to keep some level of sanity. GA camping is a bit cramped and crowded for my tastes...
also, you should def go west!

I wish there was more focus on guys being healthy. I mean there is to some degree, but it seems generally expected that women should be in great shape and guys can eat or do whatever they want. I'm trying to lose weight right now, got a YMCA membership and I'm trying (trying) to eat in a much more healthy manner. It's very hard though, all of my guy friends eat anything and everything, every day. Admittedly, most of them are not in peak physical condition, but it also doesn't seem to matter much. My good friend Andrea, on the other hand, gains a couple pounds and everyone notices and she talks about it constantly until it's gone. It can be horrible, having those expectations laid on you because of your sex, I'm sure. But I honestly wish I had some outside motivation to help push me along, you know? Anyway, there's my five minutes of my guy perspective. Happy dieting and exercising!
Great health article. The author is one of my best friends, and also the new editor of the magazine Unfortunately, they don't post the entire article online, but what's there is great...and of course I want to brag on my buddy
*Welcome back, wolfaroo!! And I completely agree with your post! I wish my bf would take better care of himself. I've lost at least 20lbs since we've been together, and he's gained as much

Well, I'm not a girly, but hearing someone else's success story is often motivation for yourself.
Back in April of 2009 I was weighing in at about 233 lbs (I'm 6-1). I'm a very athletic guy, but I've always been packing on too many pounds. I committed myself to exercise every single day (yes, every day, I'm a freak) and healthy eating. By the time August came around, I had gotten down to 173 lbs. Since then I've been focusing on getting rid of any excess fat and piling on a lot of lean muscle (I'm at 169 right now). I'm going to look like Ripped Jesus come Bonnaroo.
Honestly, weight loss isn't easy, but it is EXTREMELY simple. It is all about motivation and dedication. Eat healthy and commit yourself to exercise, and the lbs will fly off.
I'm also willing to lend advice if any of you have any particular questions or queries. Just shoot me a PM. Work hard for your body and your body will work hard for you.

it's true. it's really not that hard to lose weight. you just have to expend more than you consume. the problem is that most people put time limits on themselves. like, "i have to lose 10lbs in two weeks" or something silly like that. while you might lose those 10lbs, you'll also wear yourself out on exercise, and as soon as you go back to eating badly, you'll gain it right back.
i haven't weighed myself in a while, but i'm still going to a personal trainer twice a week, and it feels so good. they're having me do a weigh-in this coming monday, so it's helping me focus more on my diet, which ends up becoming about 80% of a weight loss routine. you can work out all you want, but if you're still hitting up taco bell at 2am, you're not doing yourself any good.
my biggest motivation has been bonnaroo, or festivals in general. when i feel like i'm already pushing myself past my limits, i start thinking about how happy i'll be in june being XXlbs lighter.
I've been hooping for five weeks now, and I can tell so much of a difference. I have defined "hoop muscles" on my sides and everything seems to be tightening up much more so than with just my normal running.
I did my first 5K this morning! Granted, I just walked (no running for these knees) but I'm still super proud of myself! I've been going to the indoor track at our community center and walking a few times a week. But paying to be outside in the winter is a different monster

^ this is why I work out at home. lol I'm so white I blind people! (that may be a bit of an exageration but you know what I mean)
I actually bought My Fitness Coach for the Wii about a month ago. It's pretty awEsome. It adjusts to what you want to focus on. (Right now mine is set on 'Bikini Body' and 'Belly Fat') and you can change it at any time. It starts you out slow and gradually makes your workouts harder and longer. (hehe harder and longer... srry i'm a HUGE perv) It also has a quick workout setting that you can use during a lunch break or before work. I've been working out before and after work every day since I've got it and I can feel a difference in my muscles.
Also, I would love to learn to Hoop Dance. I can't seem to find anywhere around here or in Birmingham that offers lessons and I don't have internet access at home so I wouldn't be able to watch online videos. My boss here at work is really lenient but i'm sure he would draw the line at me Hooping around my office. So if anyone knows anywhere in the Jasper or Birmingham area that offers Hoop Lessons please let me know.
Hi girls and boys! Just wanted to share a recipe with you all that I've made which is extremely good for you, super tasty, and extra easy to make!
Spicy Chicken Chili - one package of extra lean ground chicken (ground turkey will do as well, I usually go with chicken though) - one can of dark red kidney beans - one can of black beans - one can of plain (or any flavour you like) tomato sauce (i usually get salt free heinz) - one package of club house spicy chilli seasoning mix (in the spice isle) - 2 cups frozen peaches n'cream corn (we all know how much we loveee corn!) - other things that are optional would be mushrooms, carrots, chick peas, red/green peppers
Directions - fry up chicken in a large frying pan, once it's almost cooked transfer it into a large stew pot, don't throw away the juice it has lots of flavour and very little fat comes of chicken anyway. Add the tomato sauce as well as half a cup of water, mix the seasoning powder in and and mix it up. Then drain and add in both cans of beans and the corn, and whatever other vegetables you choose. I always add in a few dashes of hot sauce, because I like things spicy. Then just let it simmer on low for about ten minutes until all the flavours have melded together and then enjoy. You can put it over pasta, eat it with a whole grain pita, sprinkle a little cheddar cheese on it, put it over rice, or in a burrito, however you like.
This recipe costs about 10$ in total and makes enough for two people to eat for at least two days, it also freezes well. It's super inexpensive, very filling because of the beans (which are all low fat, high fibre), and really easy to eat.
Have any of your ladies tried the WiiFit Plus? I can't get it anywhere around where I live, I paid 1/2 down & have had it on reserve for over a month but it still hasn't come in yet. Just wondering if it will be worth it! I'm getting impatient hah, I might hafta try out that My Fitness Coach for Wii, it sounds pretty good! Also, I ordered a fitness hoop & I'm going to give that a try. "Regular workouts" have never kept my interest but I really want to be more active so I'm trying some new things. We'll see how hooping works out for me since I'm quite clumsy & pretty uncoordinated, haha!
Take a hooping class or watch SaFire's online videos, because you are going to get bored if you only know how to waist hoop.
i actually prefer to only waist hoop. i've been hooping for several years now, and i have no real desire to learn tricks. i just put on some music and dance with it. it's my release.
i did buy a 5lb weighted hoop, but it's smaller than the hoops i usually use, which means i have to hoop faster, and i don't necessarily like that. i've also made my own, but i have yet to find one that's the weight i really like.

I've started taking major workout classes that are kicking my ass. With titles like "Combat Cardio," "FBI: Fat Burning Intervals," and "Yoga CPR," I am noticing a difference immediately. I wanted to tone and trim, and it's working!

Just wanted to share because I'm pretty excited about it. I ran much further today without stopping at all than I have ever been able to. I have no idea how far in distance, I just run the loop around my neighborhood and use landmarks and I made it aaalmost all the way back today. There's a big ass hill coming back up to my street that kills me. But anyways, yay!

woohoo! that's awesome, starrynight!! we've had GORGEOUS weather here in texas for the past couple days, so i've been able to get some hooping time in. yesterday i put my speakers outside and hooped for over an hour in the middle of my apartment complex. the UPS guy stared...lol
I love this thread! I want to lose 50lbs, at the very least 20 by Bonnaroo so I can feel more comfortable in summer clothing.
I also really want to learn how to hoop b/c it looks like so much fun!
hippieNaustin, do you know of any local stores that sell them? I have never been able to hoop, not even as a child, but really want to try again with the weighted ones. I actually live in Dallas but I go to Austin at least once a month.
Or if anyone has a website to recommend, I'd appreciate it! How much should I expect to pay?
I have a very physically demanding job, so I don't worry too much about fitness, but I do worry about tanning in advance. I'm extremely pale, and do NOT wish to spend the whole weekend as red as a lobster.
Just keep putting on sunblock and wear a hat. Seriously - I burn so easily and last time I was just religious about reapplying every two hours and I didn't burn at all (though I did tan pretty well - even with SPF 30).
Hooping ladies: I'd like to get a hoop and start doing it for fun and somewhat for fitness. My question is, what size hoop, and with what weight, do I need? I've only hooped once, and it was a great workout, but I have no idea what the size or weight was.
