If they were planning a presale, I would have thought that they'd try to get this out just before... get people's attention back on Bonnaroo and help boost presale sales.
i'm getting kind of annoyed that they haven't said anything about this yet considering they just announced the holiday merchandise that would ship by the 22nd. i wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't come out until next month.

To anyone who didn't order the DVD originally and regrets it...
I emailed Bonnaroo this morning asking when the DVD's will be sent. They haven't answered yet, but I did get an immediate autoreply with answers to a bunch of FAQ's... one of which was...
"COMMEMORATIVE DVD If you did not purchase the 2008 Commemorative DVD when you originally bought your tickets to this year's Bonnaroo, you will get a 2nd chance to in the coming days. We will sending out an email to all ticket buyers with info on how to purchase the Commemorative DVD, so stay tuned!"
Awww...that's awfully sweet of you!! I can only hope my ex does the same as he is the one that ordered the tix AND the DVD....but based on what has gone on since....I somehow don't see that happening So I suppose I will have to rely on the kindness of one of my other InfoFriends to help me out ;D Which I have TOTAL faith will happen!

Lewis Black mentions the 08 DVD in his Crazy Lewis video on Bonnaroo.com. I've gotta assume it's comin' out soon.
in 2004 i saw a Bonnaroo movie in Nashville and it turned out it was the same thing that you got from joining the "Krewe of Roo" so that was a little funny. I am excited to get this no matter what footage is on it. It will put me in the roo mood.

i think only the new purchases have to wait until January... i dunno, i figured it would be pushed back... i'm a tad bit disappointed in the song selection, but i mean with 100+ bands i'm sure it was hard to choose....
True...but no Plant and Krauss? Very disappointing! No BB King?? No Robert Randolph? Yeah...I could think of a few I'd swap out for some of the ones they got...but then I haven't seen it yet...maybe they had some trouble shooting some of the sets?
I was sure hoping for one of the other MMJ songs though....
only 2 late nights on there... 2na/galactic and MMJ.... i could have thought of some better latenights to put on there like Ghostland...
but the thing to remember is there is ALWAYS clips of other bands, but these are the full song performances... at least that's how the previous dvd's went.
my favorite dvd is still 2002 with all the crowd interaction footage. i'm hoping for alot of that!
i feel a little cheated. only 16 songs? why couldnt they have made it at least 20? hmmmm i only saw 6 of those acts. oh well. it just needs to get here.
I was sure they'd put Kanye on the dvd. Everyone thought his performance was awesome. Seriously though, I wish Levon Helm singing The Weight made the dvd. That was the best show I've seen in my life.

Boo-urns!!!
First of all - Kanye was not included hahahahahhahaha! Secondly - The Lee Boys make the DVD over Robert Randolph?!? Where is the love for Bonnaroo's favorite son? The Lee Boys shows was pretty good, but Randolph lit it up. Plus, the Lee Boys just released a Live from Bonnaroo DVD. So that show is already out in DVD format. Lame. Third - I'm not OK with the delay. I ordered one as present and now I won't have it. I should get a discount on my next ticket, or mech to atone for this delay. I think one of the selling points of the DVD was that it would arrive in time for the holidays, and now it isn't. Fourth - Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a lot of overlap from the Fuse coverage? I think I have several of these songs on my DVR already. In fact, I think all of the shows I'm interested in watching off this DVD, I've already seen on Fuse. Why is this DVD taking so long if a lot of it is recycled stuff? Five - No Plant/Krauss? That's in bad taste. Six (I'm on six, right?) - As aforementioned, only 16 songs? I'm not impressed. Seven - I was only at four of these shows. Either give me more songs or a better selection. Eight - I hope Kanye is mentioned in some aspect on the DVD. It would be really beat if they completely ignored the whole fiasco. Nine - I'm still mad about Robert Randolph not being included. Ten - I'm still glad I bought two, so maybe I should shut up.
Ok list of performances, but I'm excited, none the less. I second that they should have thrown some Levon Helm on here... as well as some ZPZ, Sigur Ros, and Phil Lesh not being on there is a shocker.

Robert Randolph's show was good, but he's no Levon Helm and Levon didn't even make the dvd. Still, I was at 9 of the shows on the dvd so I can't complain. As for the 16 songs. 16 songs for ten dollars isn't too bad in my opinion.
1. The Raconteurs - Old Enough (Saw part of this performance, did absolutely nothing for me. Weak choice to open the DVD) 2. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings - Let Them Knock (Overslept Saturday and missed this, one of my must sees of the festival. Glad she's on here.) 3. Broken Social Scene - Love Is New (Missed this in favor of other great things, as well. Glad to see they're on here.) 4. Gogol Bordello - Think Locally quack Globally (Hate Gogol. I'll probably watch this performance once then skip it every other time.) 5. Chali 2na with Galactic - Lock poop / Right Now (Cool.) 6. Metallica - Fade to Black (Awesome, not my choice for Metallica song for this thing, but great song, still.) 7. Lee Boys - Come On, Help Me Lift Him Up (Uneducated to their music) 8. Tegan and Sara - Back In Your Head (Boo.) 9. Against Me! - We Laugh at Danger (And Break All The Rules) (Boo.) 10. The Avett Brothers - Die Die Die (No opinion on these guys, yet.) 11. Jack Johnson - If I Had Eyes (Boo.) 12. Les Claypool - One Better (Saw part of this show, so that's cool.) 13. Mastodon - Colony of Birchmen (Really glad to see Mastodon on here, great show they had.) 14. Two Gallants - Despite What You've Been Told (Missed these guys, as well. Glad to see them on here.) 15. My Morning Jacket - I'm Amazed (Heard half of this show from the camsite, not shocked to see MMJ on here. Odd pick for a song, but cool, none the less.) 16. Pearl Jam - Better Man (Nice.)
i can only comment on the raconteurs, mmj, and pearl jam. out of all the raconteurs songs i don't know why they would pick anything other than "blue veins." if you were there then you'd know it was a great example of the intensity jack white brings to his performances. and i have no idea where this video of it came from since i just checked a few weeks ago. everything else was just from people's cameras, and i don't think it's from fuse. and jack white may have driven himself to tears at the end:
mmj deserves their own dvd for their show, but i think "gideon" would've been the best choice, but that's only if they had shots of the glowsticks and balls bouncing everywhere. i think it kind of sucks that they went with "i'm amazed" since it was kind of their first single or whatever. and of course this video doesn't do it justice compared to actually being there, but it means a lot to whoever saw it:
i can't decide with the best choice for pearl jam. they had never played "all night" live before, so that would've been a big deal to include it on the dvd. i'm sure a lot of PJ fans would buy a copy just to see it. they hadn't performed "WMA" in its entirety in 14 years or something, so that would've been cool too. "porch" ended up being pretty awesome despite eddie vedder getting a bit preachy. still he had some good crowd interaction though. i like "betterman" as much as everyone else. it's a great song. but what happened at bonnaroo is no better than any other time they've performed it and nothing you can't see on live at the garden. and it's one of those songs that comes on the radio and people know it, but they don't even know it's pearl jam. quack that. and i can't really find a good video to show for them
this year was my first bonnaroo. from my understanding and from what i saw it was a very special place where bands go to give very special performances. i don't think this DVD reflects that very well. and it's going to be delayed longer than they said originally? and no plant/krauss or any footage of some of the other legends who were there? i'm pretty disappointed after looking forward to this the day i got home from the festival.
After watching the preview and seeing the track list, I think they did a fabulous job and am really excited to see this and relive my Bonnaroo memories.
Quitcher bitchin. You're at least getting a DVD this year
One important thing to remember is that because of copyright restrictions the Bonnaroo organizers have to get permission from, and compensate, the artists and the labels to include entire songs on the DVD. For various reasons the artists and/or labels may not have agreed to allow certain songs or performances to be included on the DVD. These kind of negotiations can be very complicated and take time so it would not surprise me if this would account for at least some of the production delay.
This DVD, like all the previous DVDs, will include many more short clips of various performances along with backstage video and general festival fun scenes. These short clips are much easier to include in a commercial DVD as they are generally covered under the fair use clause of copyright law.
